  • The timing they wud have had to dun to make this work. and with one fuck up, they'll have to start all over again.

  • This is actually 3 shots. Then they are seamlessly cut together. The first cut is when it pans past the corner at 2:30. The second cut is when Theo falls into the building at 3:55.

  • @Jammed9000 where did you hear that from?

  • @Jammed9000 sorry for the other post but i just read the article, your right, still fucking amazing though

  • @chillydog12345

Yeah it's still incredible. I was just clarifying how they did it.

  • @Jammed9000 cheers!

  • At the beginning before the tank shows up, those guys were screaming in Swahili saying something like "Huyo ana kuja"....literal translation "Here he comes"..........I don't remember hearing any swahili when i first saw the movie and where was this scene meant to take place?

  • this is so sick

  • Impressive stuff.

  • i'd hate to be the dick to fuck up halfway through... man how guilty would u feel... great piece of cinematography btw

  • @therealdjcammONUTUBE actually, it was a whole bunch of smaller shots that were joined by CGI.

  • Amazing shot.

Watch how the blood sneakily disappears off the lens at about 3:59 onwards.

    Good stuff!

  • Face it folks we aint far off this shit in the world today. Good luck see you on the other side.

  • great take of an extraordinarily good movie

  • yeah there are cuts, but only two, and they are very subtle. another great long take is the traffic jam scene in Jean-Luc Godard's "Week End" (1968)

  • Amazing artistry in all the dressing of the sets/location in this scene and through the film. Whatever problems CoM has, it's immersive in a way few films manage. That's a tribute not just to the director and dp but to hundreds of technical people working at the tops of their games. Thanks to all of them, and thanks for posting this clip.

  • This personally is my favorite Long-take scene from the movie. It is so incredible how well rehearsed it all is and the blood splatter on the camera is just the perfect addition to it all^^

  • That's a hell of a scene. Thanks for posting.

  • Directors like Alfonso Cuarón are the only reason to watch movies at all.

  • If anyone likes this style of long takes, be sure to watch Oldboy, Atonement and Warrior King. Those 3 films contain the greatest one take shots ever put to screen.

  • as AK47MONCO recommended other long take-movies, I don't want to hold back either. :)

pretty famous for its one take only is Russian Ark. check it out, the movie was made stunningly well.

  • The first shot of Boogie Nights is also incredible.

  • really this scene was shooted on 2 takes, see the min. 2:05 it was a cut, because the blood marks on the chamera´s lent come out in that minute, but that scene is AWESOME!

  • Sorry, that was not in the min 2:05, was in the min 4:05. (:

  • i believe that they cut it just when he enters that building right before the blood drops disappear.. theres a little moment where everythings black...

  • There is no cut.

Director Alfonso Cuarón says: "The blood was great, but after a while it started to feel like it was on your face. It started to feel distracting." In every frame of the shot after Theo enters the building, the blood was digitally removed in post-production.

  • There ARE cuts, but they removed the blood as well.

  • What Guggo13 said. The blood is removed in post-production. Stop making up your own theories and posting them as facts.

  • The director said that there's no cuts, not me.

  • Well I never read or heard him say that. I just had a workshop with Alex Rodriguez (the editor) and he said there were 4 (!) cuts during this sequence, although they are all pretty invisible. One of them is around 2:33, I think.

  • Amazing take

  • And I gotta watch this film for my media studies course!

    :D

  • this sequence left me stunned. Brilliant filmmaking!

  • Alfonso Cuaron + Emmanuel Lubezki = Visually stunning movie.
