Eddie, You will once again want to play these great songs and be friends with Sammy again if for nothing else than to jam out some "goosebumping" music. Are you really getting that with Dave?
This period in time was the absolute best time for Van Halen fans. In my opinion the F.U.C.K. album and tour was the very top for the Van Halen sound. All the members of the band seemed to be in great shape and they all seemed happy.
I saw this same tour when they came to Columbia,Maryland way back then..I know everybody with our crew was toasted..Motley Crew opened for these guys..an epic concert..a lot of screamin' smokin' n pukin' going on..ah the good ol' days
Man I Freakin Love this video!!! Its one of my fav Van Halen videos!! Seriously I found it two years ago on your channel and still watch it like every week. How did u get it?? Thanks for this video thats given me eternal enjoyment!!!!!
i was there for this. filmed @ Cal Expo in Sacramento CA. sold out two days. sunday and Tuesday. this was the second night. you're right, they were on fire then (for sammy era). Thx for posting!

Wow... I remember this show like it was yesterday... the old Cal Expo amphitheater... they did three takes and the crowd was up for each... it was Van Halen, and it rocked!!! They closed alot of the shows that tour covering "Rockin' in the Free World" and it was freakin off the charts!!! I think sometimes we forget how great those guys were together. Thanks for posting.
Does anybody know the name of that Van Halen video (w/ Sammy) where the band is in a night club/bar after closing and a bartender is cleaning up? (It's one of their 'love' rock songs)
Rock and rool, and music in general started to go downhill in the early Nineties. Though, I have hope that the next decade will bring a rebirth in rock music. Either that, or we find a DeLorean, and go back to the Eighties.
i recorded this on vhs the day it was first on mtv.
they premiered both versions that day. also i just saw they also made another version using the dallas free show footage. using this same audio. look in my favorites, i just book marked it.
i was there with dave front row sacramento awesome concert eddie is the GREATEST...alice in chains opened...eddie played the national athem before the band hit the stage....
i was at this concert too! correct me if i'm wrong but the entire video was filmed at the sacto, ca cal expo show or is this multiple shows? this was my first 'real' concert as a senior in hs and already being a 'chains' fan, where do you go from that point?
i dont know why he hates it...its not the hardest song he has to play infact its kinda simple but fun to play on guitar one of my Fav's from the Hagar Era
And do you believe I just read an interview where Eddie said he didnt like this song, and HE wrote it! Everyone else loved it, so he said whatever. LOL Awesome tune Eddie. Dont stop writing these "awful" songs!
HA HA HA .. Thats why I am here too!!.. I read the same article.. not sure where you got your source from, but I got mine on AOL news.. This song rocks, but being artist, you are your own worst critic..
Yup! AOL stinkin news. LOL I dont usually like AOL for any of my news, but I saw an interview with Eddie and had to click on it. Then came right here.
1991 was the first time I saw VH in concert but not the last. Saw them at the old World Music Theater in a suburb of Chicago. The memories are amazing!

AWESOME!!! This is as good as it gets people! Not to sound cheesy but this is what rock n' roll is all about. GREAT song, the band is at their BEST and there is FANTASTIC interaction from the crowd! Not to mention the girls...more than a few hotties out there! Thanks alot for posting this!!!
I was at this concert in Phx AZ. They swramed the audience with camera men during this song "Standing on top of the World" and "dream is over". I mean alot of cameras. I remember this vividly 'cause I can see several of my partying buds from the day. In the early nineties we played this video at the dance club always as the last song of the night (last call). What a song to end the night too...."This version" PERFECT!
This video was shot at the Cal Expo Ampitheater in Sacramento Ca. MTV stopped playing this version when the studio version was made. And previous posts are correct hot as hell that nite but a great show from a great band at a great place wish it were still there.
What a great show that was! We were there when they filmed this. It was in Sacramento, CA. They told us before the song that they were going to be filming the video. That's why at the end you hear Sammy saying, "you did it" and "you really helped us out". It was such an awesome show!
They said that in Phx AZ too. Ours is when sammys hair is pulled up on his head due to all the sweat. They were all dripping in 110 plus temps here, so it a collage of a couple of that leg of the tour.
Rock from 80's & 90's rules! Thet were the last decades of very good rock & pop music. The rock & heavy metal used to have melody & good vocals then. Lyrics were also much better. Pop was good as well.
