Wasn't Blackbeard a tubby guy. At least he old depiction of a pirate was of a tubby guy. Did a quick google, and the script was written by Bryce Zabel. He of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, Lois and Clark: New adventures of Superman, and The Crow, stairway to heaven. So the one thing he most definitely does not know is how to write a script, and how to write a good script.
But I wasn't defending the script as a masterpiece.
Also, Blackbeard was tall, not fat, but Angus did do an OK job.
Also, my argument is that the negative reviews of this are less about the mediocre script and more about its production value, CLEARLY forgetting this is TV, not a MOVIE.
The best BlackBeard is Terror at Sea starring James Purefoy and Mark Noble!!!! WITH OUT A DOUBT!

Blackbeard is Edward Teach from England, he was a well build pirate, with broad shoulders, jetblack hair as well as his beard, and brown eyes.
