@Sir047 he's saying that if your are willing to kill someone else, be prepared to be killed yourself; in other worlds, pistols aren't for threatening, but for killing
im sure there was an episode where luffy said the "risk your life " quote. and then remember he told the guy he took that line from shanks. do you remember which episode that was?
@l1k29 reading your post I just reliezed I was wrong, man I feel like reeading one piece from the start so I can start pwning people, like you did to me, but yeah Thanks for the reply! and oh I understood wat u wrote
@GeneralGhost he couldn't use Haki with Luffy around, he wont have been able to handle it, and it could have maybe even killed him, remember wat rayliegh told him at the island where they were traning to be careful with it b
@Thebeastmode1994 1. shanks didn't use haki because it wasn't necessary... 2. late he did use haki on the sea monster 3. rayliegh told luffy not to use the third kind of haki when he can't really control it, because it could effect other people. but shanks knows how to use it and he can control it... (sorry for my english i'm german)
It took me ages to realize who Shanks was really talking to. Luffy had kept on saying "My punch is as strong as a pistol!" It was Luffy that Shanks was talking to, that he would be betting his life on his own strength, on his "pistol". You think Shanks is gonna give advice to some mountain monkey lackey? Shanks is far too badass.
@Zakerandsaisu I dont think so dude, he wasnt giving anyone advice he was challenging the bandit. I really dont think that in that situation he was going to stop to give luffy or anyone else advice his only objective was to save a kid that he really cared for and respected.
@GeneralGhost There was not a single instant in this scene when Luffy was not 100% safe. The strength of his crew and his skill with Haki allowed Shanks to take his time with what he wanted to do. I think it was a warning to Luffy really, after Luffy so recklessly risked his life for reasons that Shanks had previously told him were unnecessary. Shanks used the mountain bandit to show Luffy how dangerous life can be. He needs to bet his life on his "pistol," and if he fails he dies.
in the 4kids version, that bullet was a cork. not even joking. It's quite sad really.

I wish he would just used his Haki to over power them all, but then i guess luffy would have never be taken and he would have never lost his arm.

The best but is Lucky Roo is giving more attention to his meat than killing the bandit, that's how far he outclasses them.
