Leifur´s Grandfather was exiled from Norway and moved to Iceland with his son Erik who then grew up in Iceland and met his wife there and and had their sons, one of them was Leifur. "Leifur Eriksson found america but he had the decency to let it be" E. Hemingway
@strokkur75 omg omg! Now THAT is rly fucked up! omg!... ok seriously, he would have spoken Old Norse actually, pretty similar to modern icelandic but still... You did some bad reaserch yourself buddy...
@strokkur75 No u fuckin idiot.. He was born in what we today call Norway. But back then sweden denmark and norway were all divided in to smaller kingdoms.
THE DELETED BIGSCENES ARE JUST AS PART OF THE MOVIE AS THOSE THAT WERE LEFT INSIDE! I ONLY RATE A MOVIE TOGETHER WITH DELETED BIGSCENES, NEVER WITHOUT THEM!
Cursed thing? The mask (or Loki, whatever) isn't itself evil. It just reflects whoever wears it and can be used for good or evil.
When Stanley Ipkiss (good) wears it, it helped him fulfill his wildest dreams (to have Tina, to be rich, get back at his boss and the autoshop guys, scare the landlord) but caused all sorts of mischief in the process. When Dorian (evil) wears it, he turns into a hideous demonic creature.
0:23: So that's God Loki's face! Gee, I allways wanted to see someone reconstruct the face of that viking god according to the mimical propertys of the wooden mask!
I can't describe why this scene didn't made the cut, but I realized that the old woman set a curse ( which the mask is cursed already) by damming the land and cursing who ever finds it and wears the mask was placed in a wooden chest, several millenias pass by reaching the current present time shows the cursed land is known as Edge City, USA where a diver discovers the chest, the same chest that the vikings hid the mask
He actually says "the southlanders"; the word Italy wasn't much in use at that time.
The main actor here speaks fluent Swedish, but the other man is obviously a foreigner. Unfortunately the main actor speaks Swedish in a modern way. They could have found an actor who could talk with a little bit more dignity. And one who didn't sound too young to wear a beard.
nope, sorry there was only 2 deleted scenes on the dvd. However, there is another deleted scene not in the dvd where it shows stanley meeting the bikers. it takes place right before he enters his apartment and it's also in the original comic. this can be seen on Valkr's youtube channel
@MetalArcane Loki is a Norse god. Also, if you've actually seen the film and don't understand the concept of Loki and his role in the film, you clearly paid no attention...to...well, to anything.
you're right, i'm swedish and we never sailed in that direction on our voyages. we went to todays russia and down to constantinople. maybe som swedes went with you to the new world.
The swedish imitation is just a placeholder for what they actually spoke. (Very few people will know the difference anyway)I don't think your suggestion to let them speak danish would have been any better, cuz leif erikson came from Iceland. If they wanted to take the viking language seriously, they would have to gotten some experts on the old norse language, which is a lot closer to icelandic, norwegian or even sewdish than danish. What a silly suggestion on your part.

@qwuezalothus
A primary rule for you, perhaps.
One of my primary rules is that - in order not to look like a moron - don't type everything in caps. But maybe that's just me.

"Leave that to the Italians." I laughed my head off when I saw that the first time. This should not have been cut.

AdmireRoxtars 6 months ago
@AdmireRoxtars I appreciate the effort they went to but it still isn't accurate, as they should be speaking Old Norse.

how would the vikings know that the italians would discover america first?
rockinamber18 7 months ago
@rockinamber18
Italians were great see-traders even in that time. They were the best in Europe, besides the vikings.
By the way: on every site, every critical writing, I always counting the deleted full bigscenes of movies.
For example: The Mask was 8/10 by me, but together with the deleted, remastered scenes it's a 9/10 now.
qwuezalothus 6 months ago
@rockinamber18 He actually said in swedish: The southern people... so It was just a bad translation.
