cool video...i am new to blender. 2 things. i dont know how you can start off your screen with x an y axis...default (and the one in the book) starts off with z and x. and the second thing (which might be throwing people off) is at 5:47 when he says he is going to "object mode" to show you what we've got, he is actually just selecting a different viewport shader but toggling it with the "z" key. also can be done by choosing from the menu next to the "modes" menu

How can you go to object mode??

For those of you who can't get the mirror to work, this is because when you moved the plane to the corner you did it in object mode and not in edit mode, in edit mode, the pink dot which marks the center of the shape is not moved when the shape is, the mirror modifier works mirrors about that point and if it stays in the center, it does mirror, you just don't see it

ok i figured it the mirror problem out for myself and you guys, go to edit mode and try again, then move your first plane over a bit, the mirror should be under it, then it will move into place "mirroring" it.

Try pressing the X or Y or Z axis mirror buttons underneath the Merge limit bar in the Mirror selection.

Whenever I start cutting for the second time it makes an octagon instead of a square? I follow your instructions to the point, but its still not making a square! 8C
