  • Griffin sent me here

  • Test footage would be nice. Besides that great tutorial.

  • Awesome video, very funny but informative!

  • I feel like PVC pips are just Lego's for men

  • omg... you are my hero!!!

  • Great idea!!! Thanx homie keep it up with dope ideas on the low budget!! added a little xtra support around the neck to the other shoulder and used wrist wrap weights for more stability! This thing works awesome thanx for the idea!! tried to leave a pic but it keeps giving me an error message.

  • @TheMayhemRevolution post the photo on the quick fx face book wall!

  • you look a bit like Jack Black :D

  • is it possible to do this with out the spring? i cant find it anywhere

  • man u r hilarious!!! great video

  • I really loved this. I want to buy a 5D and definitely be doing one of this. My only concern is how to set up a monitor. any suggestions?

  • see you bite your nails

  • 1:06 So fricken perfectly delivered for a joke!

  • Love your videos! there so inspirational, you inspired me to make my own out of metal here flickr.com/photos/howla-photography/6876112911 its weighted nicely check it out

  • @HowlaMusic Excellent design! You should create a quick video showing off your design, I'm sure some people would like to see it!

  • future reference.... you dont have to use primer and if you want to, there is clear primer

  • This tutorial is exactly what i was looking for. Thank you!!! Subscribed and favoriting this video!!

  • This guy is awesome XD

  • 3:28 LMAO! Great tutorial dude

  • The electrical conduit body is called an LL. Its shaped like an L, so that is the first L. If you hold it like a gun, an LL will have the opening on the Left, an LR will have the opening on the Right, and and LB will have the opening facing up, or Back. for this project, and LL or LR should work. Just make sure you get the PVC ones.

  • @monkeyfacevideo Very cool, I didn't know that. I added an annotation to the video. Thanks!

  • is that a gun put at the background wall ?

  • Where did you get that viewfinder thingy? You remind me of Jack Black.

  • made this but strapped a weight to the back of it. thanks!

  • @ethnicreign beat me to the point. :D

  • that.was.awesome :)

  • Wow, The video quality looks great on this video. Which cam/lens combo did you use on this?

    Thanks!

  • if you attach a viewfinder to the camera's LCD, can you look through it on this rig?

  • dam, now this is the nicest DIY rig. i have seen

  • Just built it and it works great. Thanks!

  • Really like the bombed and confused type your playing , great stuff.

  • Love the tutorial man, great way to save money!

  • Best tutorial on youtube so far :)

  • Great video, but it looks really good finished I was wondering other than the foam what was used to make it all black looks like it was painted or some black tape too?

  • this one was awesome !! definitely trying it out .. comparison to the LEGO builders is really a confidence booster .. i can make it yaye

  • This video would have been better had he prepared even a bit. He spends the first 35 seconds trying to figure out what the video should be about? A little pre production next time!

  • Soooo good! Informative and fun to watch! Can't wait to do this!

  • hey man, you are pretty funny, i have to watch your videos 5or6 time, but i love your ideas, going out today to get some stuff, will let you know how it works out.

  • Where can i get the background music, it is funky as hell lol

  • Great tutorial. But I think, for the maximum effect, you'll need a counter weight at the back.

  • Hey guys great tutorial, but i don't have a DSLR instead I have a Sony HVR-Z7U HDV. I was wondering if you had any suggestions to a homemade shoulder rig for it seeing its a bigger and heavier camera with 2 wireless receivers and on board light. or made maybe even a suggestion to alter the one you have created here so support the weight and height difference of the LCD display!

    Thanks!!!

  • @hute0898 That's pretty good sized camera you're working with. You may have to invest in an actual rig. jag35 might be a good place to start.

  • @hute0898 Yeah, I have an HMC40, also quite big and I've used something similar to this and once you add your external Mic to the camera it gets a little wobbly. How about adding another shoulder support, two would make it more stable. I also added some PVC pipe downwards to connect with my hip (padded) takes some of the weight off and works quite well for bigger cameras.

  • @hute0898 Metal. Lots of metal.

  • This is great...

Where i can buy online the pvc conduit box?

  • Hahahaha...

    Blues Clues much?

  • Great idea. I built off of some of your ideas to make my own rig. Thanks :)

  • this video inspired me to make a shoulder mount of 1 mountain bike handle bar, 2 seat mounts reversed as handles, and one bull horn mountain bike handle to grip behind me. really strong and sturdy. Great videos man. Keep it up!

  • Am I The Only person who doesn't get how he got the screw in the Conduit box??? Need help!!!!??? they don't come like that do they??

  • @JaygreenTV Drill the hole through both the top and bottom end of the box. Push the screw up through the bottom and attach the bolts inside before pushing the screw all the way out of the top..

  • @JaygreenTV He talked about how he did it real fast. 1/4 inch 20 thumb screw that is 2 inches long. If you look inside the conduit box as he is showing it you can see how it stays in place; there are two nuts and then a spring which keeps tension on the screw to keep it in place. Kind of a cool setup. I think the spring would be the hardest thing to find.

  • Making one today fingers crossed (I've never build anything before in my life lol im 21)

  • You have no counter-weight in back...and no front stabilization mechanism for movement. The rig is nearly useless.

  • @ElectrofilmsENT This tutorial is just a template for viewers to work from and create thier own adding the some of the elements that you mentioned.

  • @Knoptop I think you should at least have mentioned a balance/counterweight system or even a spring rod for the front. A balance is the fundamental element of what makes this rig work. Just as you would expect a car to some with wheels. Other wise it is as useful as setting the camera on your shoulder. Your traffic isn't professional so the people who come to your video need this sort of information.

  • * come with wheels

  • @ElectrofilmsENT I made mine and to make more weight, first I put cement on the pieces once it was dry I started to fill it with gypsum powder (only the part that goes over the shoulder), then I seal the hole with hot glue and once it was done I assemble it to the front part, and that helped a lot to make the counter-weight.

  • Great tutorial, mine turned out great!

  • Have you tried attaching a rail system? I want to, but can't think of a way to attach it

  • This video went viral on Lebanon

  • My dad and I just got finished with building this! I LOVE THE IDEA! We (mainly my dad) made some adjustments here and there and improved it. I will post a response sometime. And again, thank you for making this!!!!

  • he haz one in the background

  • I did this rig and found out instead of using a t joint at the handles use a cross joint and add a third handle about 6inches and you could focus easier than holding the rig off centered.

  • why do we need a pvc cutter?

  • @itstheChristianLife a hacksaw will work too! the cutters just make it a lot easier

  • @Knoptop hahah, but do u use it at all for this project?

i thought u can just go to home depot and get the size u wanted.

sorry for asking a lot of questions. haha

  • @itstheChristianLife i literally use it for all my projects and prototype rigs. I purchased a cheap version from Harber Frieight (some can be pricey) But yes, it's a good investment if you plan to make a few pvc projects.

  • Wooooowww... no homo or anything but your memorizing... its sooo weird

  • This is great. Thanks so much for posting. I combined yours with this follow focus... youtube.com/watch?v=oAeSTAkPOO4 made all with pvc of course.. Great job. And I'm going to build your LCD loupe too. : )

  • Nice tutorial, thanks.

Your camera op should focus the lens on the talent instead of the background - oops.

  • hey if i send you money can u make me one and send it to me ?? i have paypal if your intersted

  • Man u are the "BOSS" Rick Ross Voice!. Thank u for the help it took me 10 min to do this!!!

  • Are you plumber? Or, no-no-no, you just think that it is wise to put expensive DSLR at this cheap self made plastic construction.

  • @SergSpace It is very sturdy as the pieces are no more than 10 inches. Once cemented into place it is rock-steady. Since it is easily customizable, one could add extra support if you feel it is necessary.

  • This is fantastic! I built it and tested it a bit today. I will head out to the airport and do some shooting and modifying. Great plans and directions.

  • @fight2flyphoto was it good?

  • @dasadopeboy Yeah, worked out really well. I modified it a bit to my needs by having the camera in between where the hand-grips are and the shoulder braces. Also, instead of having two braces on the right shoulder, I mad the braces go on BOTH shoulders. This helped stabilize things for me a lot. I intend on having a video of it soon.

  • first second into this video i noticed bill cosby in the back

  • Just finished mine. It tested great! Thank you, thank you.

  • lol. guns in background

  • A shoulder mount doesn't work without a counter balance.

  • @ZUPERCURTIS Good point. That's why I'm looking to add one myself.

  • This was really enjoyable to watch. I laughed well over 500 times.

  • dude, thanks! just made mine! i love it!

  • You're a lot cooler than Zach Finfag

  • Spoiler title ruined the intro

  • Just made mine yesterday! Just wanna tell everyone that if your small (like me) you can cut down some of the pieces to fit better on your shoulder. That's what I had to do.

  • Hey Man - great work. Love you teaching style as well. Question about the thumb screw for this rig... If the 2 inch thumb screw goes all the way up through the conduit box with the two nuts at the top (inside) what purpose to the spring have? Isn't the thumb screw locked in position? A little hint here would helpful...

  • @genoandrews the spring is just there to keep the bolt from dropping down out of the top hole when nothin is mounted to it. it's not needed, just something extra.

  • @Knoptop -- Thanks, Man. That makes sense. I went to the hardware store and worked with the spring and now I get it. Duh. Another dumb question... the rubber foam pad? Didn't find it at Home Depot. Where'd you get that?

    Cheers.

  • @genoandrews art store, art supply section of major stores. or just put a few layers of tape on there.

  • Should I add a counter weight on the back of the shoulder piece to give it a bit of counter weight? Just wondering. Cause I am concerned about it being front heavy

  • you are awesome my friend

  • never mind. I see now......

  • did I hear you say SPRING somewhere in the box? where does a spring go? I'm gonna try it. thanks.

  • pretty cool,, but for heavier stuff,, not sure if it is still cool

  • is there any place to add weight in the back on the shoulder?

  • @MENGELproDUCKtions sure, you could tape on some ankle weights

  • Bill Cosby keeps scaring me

  • does the conduit box come with the whole in it ? if not then how do you do it?

  • @AGPJL you'll have to drill the hole in it.

  • I like how its sitting behind him when hes pretending to make it up on the spot. Lols

  • thanks man awesome stuff here !!!

  • JEREMY TOULALAN! :O

  • Have you used it with a battery grip? I have a 7D with a battery grip, and I'm wondering if it will affect it in a negative way. :P

  • what about for larger camera's like Canon XHA1?

  • @TheN3DChannel woo, you'd probably need to double up the setup to a dual shoulder rig.

  • @Knoptop I shall see what i can do, thanks for replying, you're a legend!

  • This si the type of device film schools frown upon, but hey, it works, and that is the importnat thing. Love your videos.

  • What Canon do you have in the shot? Thanks!

  • @cdillman83 t2i

  • how did you weight the back of the setup? I'd like to try & modify this to support a ZoomH4n, an LED light panel, and a lillput 5in monitor. Thoughts? do you think this will work for something so complex?

  • @ShutterlabCreative If you taped attached two 'ankle weight' strips to the back shoulder mount area that could help counter balance the weight. Also, adding a t-joint pvc piece, you could add a circular weight. I have a another version of a camera rig I'll be sharing very soon, that may be better for the setup you are trying to create.

  • @Knoptop Thanks for the fast reply. I enjoy your work.

  • @Knoptop Is the new model also using PVC? Any ETA on the how to?

  • Great video. All the parts were at home depot. I found that 3/4 pvc worked a lot better for me - little heavier and just a better feel to it. I use a canon 550d/t2i.

  • Nice spin off of Indymogul's BFX!

  • I went to Lowes today, can't wait to make it tomorrow! :D

  • Will this work for a Cannon 7D?

  • you can cut the the pvc pipes at home depo when your save money

  • @danofazz home deop has it

  • do you paint before you connect the pieces or after connecting them together please answer.

  • @NinjaHira after. tho, i'd recommend covering in the tape, much easier

  • do you paint before or after connecting them

  • I can't get a conduit box!!

  • You think this could work for a compact camera? I got a Casio Exilim FS10 and wanted to use it for snowboarding and stuff. Really great work thanks for sharing your idea.

  • I came up with design so similar in my head. Then usually when I have an idea like that some one else has already thought of it. So I searched and found this. It's awesome save a lot of the hard thinking for me. Great tutorial.

  • This is seriously the best DIY on camera mounts. Not only is it simple and cheap, but it also looks good.

  • Thanks for the Tutorial. It was useful...but $15 my ass. It was 50 with the $17 pipe cutter. $34 without it. Not a problem...just saying.

  • This isnt time lapse. This is actually how fast i work. xD nice!

  • This guy is awesome xD

  • just made mine but my conduit box was 3/4 inch so I just hooked it straight up to the 90 degree angle instead of having a fitting. Thanks for this DIY.

  • Thanks

  • Made mines looks nice.Yea

  • I've got all the stuff!Making one right now... so EXCITED!!!

  • sweet!! gonna make one in a few weeks!

  • check out the tutorial I made that's surprisingly easy if you're looking for a shoulder rig

  • nice, but i found a better one.

    (remove the spaces)

  • What did you use for the foam padding/ where can I find something like it? Its the last component I need and then I can build! Thanks for the video and your response in advance!!

  • @TheBCProject The padding is optional and you could simply use a few layers of tape. But the stuff used in this tutorial is called "crafting foam". I put a link in the description if you need more info.

  • @Knoptop Thanks so much! I love your videos! I'm a college student so my budget is EXTREMELY low for things besides the t3i i just bought. Just when I thought I would go broke getting everything I needed for steady camera work and audio, your videos saved my piggy bank! Thanks again!

  • where can i find conduit box

  • @seekertheg your local hardware store should carry it, if you can't find one, there's an alternate version link in the video description.

  • thumbs up fore the cuted hand

  • @UrbanMovementNL "athletic tape"

  • shit i just bought that for 110$ i got screwed lol

  • never mind that's a hot glue gun....lol

  • what kind of cutter is that you are using to cut the pipe insulation?

  • building this as we speak!

  • @GalaxyFishing how'd it turn out?

  • @GalaxyFishing how'd it turn out?

  • @Knoptop Not bad at all! Did some of our own mods. We took a old table top tripod and took the head off of that and installed that on top of mount (your set up) but as for the PVC electric box, took that and placed that on one of the sides for the Mic kit to be installed. Then used spray on black rubber to give grip plus looks pro.

  • ... I will buy that from you for 15 dollars... consider the offer please

  • What's the spring for and where did you find one?

  • @neverhood311 the spring isn't necessary, it's just there to keep the bolt from dropping down when there's no camera mounted. They can be found in a pack at major hardware stores.

  • Any configuration suggestions for those of us who are right-handed but LEFT-eye dominant?

  • You should put a shopping list in your video description. thanks

  • @ashnabwa7d I just added a link to a detailed breakdown of this build.

  • @Knoptop Bravo, much obliged.

  • if you have any experience with legos then you will do good with pvc thats funny

  • Can i just buy one from you? I'll pay you
