My great grandfather (1881 - 1953) was in WWI a Belgian Soldier, and he survived this war without any wounds (He also didn't had mentally damage), but on Christmas, 25th Decemer 1914 on 0:00 A.M., he and some other soldiers heard the Germans (on the other side of the Yser river) singing: "Silent Night", and the Belgians Soldiers also began to sing "Silent Night". The next morning, the fight continous, but he never forgot that little moment of peace.

He told us than a very seriously sensation was to understand than the enemy´s soldiers are people like him , with wifes , sons and parents . But on battelfield all the men becomes on monsters .
