When you said, "The laws says"...That's your sign. If you do a little research about early Jewish culture and laws about marriage, you'll see that Jewish law was one of the first advocates of women's rights. A lot of what you're reading is early Jewish culture. Take a second look at what "Yeshua" (Jesus) said about women. They wanted to execute a harlot He stood up for her. They accused another woman he did the same. He never disrespected women. You'll find a big difference in what He said.
do you live in america? cuz i'm not sure if you know but... there's a thing called woman's right's and i'm pretty sure a priest wouldn't preach about such things.
Those passages about women are shady. If you read between the lines of the gospels and learn just a bare amount of history, you find that Jesus (and early xtainity) taught gender equality. Mary Magdalene was considered an apostle. In the first 300 years of xtianity, women were preachers and bishops. History reveals that sexism was forcefully reinserted and the texts altered when xtianity became more mainstream, which adds a layer of irony to every fucked-up and sexist thing in the new testament.
Yeah. It almost makes the fact that xtians don't read the bible acceptable, knowing that so much of it has been changed and can't always be trusted. It definitely shouldn't be seen as authoritative, like, at all.
Not too hard to figure out why fundamentalist Christians are among the most sexist. And for the "liberal" "non-literal" Christian who is always attempting to steer us clear of the Old Testament (Jesus! It's a new dispensation!) all I can say is...
...sorry. Got to go. My wife said I've been on the computer too long. She's usually right.
lol, Matthew 25 compared heaven to marrying 10 virgins. Does that sound familiar or what? The Bridegroom ends up marrying only five because they were prepared. I thought Christians were into monogamy? Damned if I was wrong...
Yeah, I'm sure you weren't surprised in finding these things in the Bible. People at that time were that way. Too bad people now still try and believe that crap.
Seriously though this is pretty messed up. Women and children are blatantly property in the bible. It's obvious this was all written by men with control issues.
I don't see how any women can call themselves christians anymore. They either have to be extremely ignorant or masochistic or have some sort of battered wife syndrome thing going on. It sad that they would follow this sort of thing.
A moral person is probably not a cristian.

You don't even realize how much the New Testament church elevated women far above the Hellenistic culture around them did.

The only reason a priest wouldn't preach about this is because of MORAL PROGRESS, which takes place in SPITE of disgusting bullshit like this.
You think people didn't preach about this when it was first written?
You think people haven't used the Bible to justify annihilating cultures, persecuting "heretics", and enslaving people?
I like that people have moved on from most of these ideas, but the point is people think the Bible is the WORD OF GOD.
And this is what's IN it.
You eat a cock, sir.

Well that's certainly interesting, but I think I probably did more research than most Christians do just by cracking open the Bible and reading it.
If all of these passages are shady, what about the passages about slavery in the Bible?
What about the passages of the "words of Jesus"?
I mention one that I know for a fact was added in later, in my video about Christian beliefs without Biblical foundations.
But my point is that it's there at all, and people think it's the word of God. Gross.

It's kind of hilarious because I was making shepherd's pie casserole and organizing my thoughts for this video at the same time. Hahah.
And I can't tell if that's supposed to be insulting my earrings or liking them. Hahaha.
