My Donkey Stallion does this.

He lets himself into my house and 'guards' the carrots in the kitchen.

Even if there is no food for him, he comes in for a cuddle. Yes, even Stallions can be gentle and affectionate souls :) .

Donkeys are wonderful and loving pets. All of the kids near my farm simply adore my little Donkster herd.

@Rainmanxxl1967 "Stubborn" is a different term than "stupid". “Stubborn” essentially denotes when an individual (includes animals) has the balls to go against authority, and create their own decisions, instead of following someone else's. “Stupid” is pretty much the definition of the average human being.

@TheREALSoffish Stubborn also means if one choses not to learn something and continues to remain stupid beyond belief. I have seen many people who chose to be stubborn even though they are wrong. It's not always a good trait to have.

However, it's agreed that most human beings are flat out dumb. Example: Governor Walker's proposed budget bill in Wisconsin at the risk of cutting education, medicare and other needed funds.

One of my donkeys can open the ribbon lock of a barrel, take it off, get rid of the lid (it takes me some effort with both hands to do it because of the tight gasket) an tip the barrel so he can helo himself with the barley flakes ! He recently taught himself how to open the lock of the paddock gate...

You are SO wrong, friend. Life is contained by a soul, and I've seen the life/soul drain from pets that I've had as they've died. However, if by your theory animals have no soul, and only humans do, then humans in general contain some pretty messed up souls. At least animals don't go off and murder their cousins for pure pleasure. And if that's what it means to not have a soul, then goddamnit, I wish I didn't have a soul.
