PPS here in the states this Honda Hero Indian crap 250 is having many stalling issue while at hiway speeds. Stalling on a USA hiway can equal a quick death, India does a not beat an asian QC built Ninja 250.
i live in los angeles and would spend most of my time in heavy traffic so i assume the honda would suit my needs better? also im 5'10-'11 about 165lbs. would it be a good first bike to get me through college?
@DarkKnight896 Hi, if you have experience on dirt bikes then that will make learning to ride a street bike easier. They are different in some ways though, e.g. you have to be smoother with the controls with a street bike. But I don't think you will have any problem with it :)
I am a strong supporter for the 2012 Ninja 250 and the top reason is because I won it last summer in the Kawasaki Let the Good Times Roll Sweepstakes. I only had to pay license title and tag. God is good because I have been praying for a motorcycle, and I was going to get one that spring, but I just didn't fell right. So I waited on God and the Blessing came. I praise God for answering my prayer. Peace.
This was actually the first video that changed my mind from the ninja to the cbr. I was doing my homework on the ninja250 before I bought, and came across your review, which led me to this video. After watching a few more, you sold me on the cbr.Originally didn't like the look, but the P-FI and the digital dash really sold me. Now the only thing to change is that damn exhaust! :) (the 2011 ninja exhaust is probably the only advantage other than the 7~ mph difference)
@SocialFallout Plus the fact that here in the U.S., the fucking ninja is carbuerated. I'd almost bet my life that the 2013 ninja250 will be FI'ed, after they see how many customers they lost. LIKE THIS COMMENT IF YOU THINK THE CBR SHOULD COME IN MORE FUCKING COLORS!!!!!!!
is the bike to small for someone big like me? Im 6 foot about 72 or 74 inches which ever it is and i have a tall abdomen and big hands, I want the bike badly but I cant get out to check one out in person quite yet
@Ericules555 Hi, I'm about the same height as you and I was comfortable enough on both bikes, but you definitely want to try sitting on one for yourself to see if you're comfortable.
@gpzDave sweet hope it doesnt cause back pain though because ive had a neck and lower back injury since i was 12 and doing the dishes kills me, sinks low, but yeah if the bike fits absolutely getting the CBR, in my eyes the ninja is overrated and to many people like it and in my opinion because it has the word ninja in the name plus I prefer the CBRs look and ride
I'm revisting these two motos after a few months of not thinking about it. The Honda is now a heavy consideration because I got over the single cylinder engine and exhaust pipe, for the most part :) What's important to me is that I need these bikes to do pretty well on the freeway. I commute to work and school both on the freeway and I need to be able to keep up with traffic, over take some cars and possibly use the speed to get out of a sticky situation.
One of the best reviews ever. I have a cbr250r and it's my first bike. Perfect for beginners. ABS is one of those things I thought " better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it" done almost 4000kms and no problems. Even take my kids on the back and they love it too. Can't say anything bad about the ninja, never ridden one. Just found a lot of riders short shift them and loose their power band too easy. CBR is far torquier and easier to handle at any speed.
@TheMGOotaku Thanks! ABS stands for "Anti-Lock Brake System" which basically decreases your stopping distance on wet or slippery roads. In the UK both bikes have EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection), this basically means that the bike will start better on cold mornings and adjust to changes better.
Well, I started out my biking life on the the HONDA NSR125R, then I moved up and had 3 HONDA CBR600Fs. Now currently riding on a HONDA Fireblade. That's 5 HONDAs so far. I have to admit the favourite is my CBR600F (2004). But don't know why, I really want to buy and ride one of these new CBR250R :)
One of the best videos i've ever seen my friend! I'm getting very excited about getting my little Honda SFX on the road in a couple weeks and am watching videos like crazy! I'm just wondering your opinion on ''is the CBR250R a good first motorbike coming straight from a 50cc?'' Also what speed were you doing during this video, it was perfect riding in my opinion :) Cheers and awesome, awesome video!
@CiaranRooney125 Thanks very much! :) I would say the CBR250R is a good bike to go to from a 50cc, because even though it is pretty fast, it will never do anything that will surprise you. It has good balance and is a very easy bike to ride. And I was only doing about 30mph in this video to stop the sound getting messed up by the wind ;)
@LittleBrightLED The top speed is around 160 kph. The bike pulls well up to 140 kph. Your mileage may vary. The Honda motor can be run at high rpm no problem. At 250 cc, the engine will sound busy at higher speeds. If you want a more relaxed engine note at high speeds, then you'll need a bigger bike.
Very Nice review. After seeing and reading all the reviews about the Honda CBR 250R I am quiet satisfied with the bike. Now my only concern here about the bike is that I have heard many people saying and facing a problem with this bike is that at times when the bike is moving at a speed above 50KMPH the engine shuts down. This is a known issue for this bike. Have you faced or heard this kind of problem with this bike. Please let me know as I am planning to buy this bike.
@tonyjacob80 Thanks for the feedback, I trust Honda's reliability and I personally don't know of that engine shut down problem and I wouldn't worry about it if I was going to buy one. Honda should get it sorted under warranty if it does go wrong anyway. :)
Thanks for replying, Yesterday I went to Honda's showroom to test the Honda CBR250R bike. I am a newbie for a sports bike and I had so much fun riding this bike. This month end I would be buying this bike. Here in India Honda is a huge name and a reliable company. I stay in New Delhi, India. Thanks for helping me out.
Great review, honda single cylinder, not a good idea, Kawasaki have "bullet proof" engines, they are like toyotas and run forever, who cares about ABS?, another thing to go wrong, ive never had abs on any bike, the only thing it really does is reduce your insurance premium.
@NASAvsPETE1 ABS can be really nice to have in a panic situation. It allows the rider to shift more attention to the bike's path than to modulating the brakes perfectly. It also allows more braking than would be available if the rider wasn't prepared for the sudden braking. It offers peace of mind.
Nice review man!, btw the roads looks so fun, i wish i could ride a bike there at scotland one day..
in my country here, most people prefer ninja to the cbr250 because it has bigger HP, has 2 cylinders and more racy feel.. and in my opinion ninja just looks more sharp , aggressive, better styling and faster too!
Back in my country the price for ninja250r is 22k and cbr250r is 21k on road. Petrol is cheap here so i dont really care about which bike is fuel efficient and i'm more to performance so i'll chose the kawasaki instead.
Great review! Thanks! However, I must disagree with your comment regarding reliability. I've owned both Hondas and Kawasakis, and I have had fewer issues with Kawasakis, on a regular basis. Plus, the Kawasaki Ninja 250 has decades of proven reliability, whereas the new Honda, nor its motor, has yet to prove itself. I give the reliability nod to Kawasaki for these reasons. Again, a great review and very informative! Thanks!
Great review, covers nearly every important aspect but would love Appearance to be covered a bit more extensively. After watching i must say i prefer the Honda as it is a lot more beginner friendly, especially in city driving.. Only thing about the honda i dont like is the exhaust, its plain ugly..
@JDMARLO That is a fair point, I just thought that judging appearance is maybe a personal thing, one person may like the Ninja more, and another may like the CBR more. My opinion doesn't matter, I'll let everyone decide for themselves on that one ;)
You did a good job. In the USA the price of the 2 is exactly the same. I love Honda, but for the bikes reliability I'd have to go Ninja. It's been made for 18 years now and is totally bullet proof. The Honda is still unknown. Great review though!
@gpzDave: I bought the Honda CBR 250R two month ago and have to say, it is awesome. Was also looking at the Ninja, but here the CBR is about 50% cheaper, so it didnt take me long to decide. Apart from it, I love the styling and how it handles. And then, like u said, the feeling of owning a Honda :D But I made an interesting observation: The CBR is faster from 0-100 then the Ninja.Above that the Ninja is faster. I guess its due to the plus of torque. Seems a bit like comparing a Diesel to Petrol
Great comparison. And I love where you were riding. It looked freaking beautiful.
Anyway, I plan to get the Honda when I find a job. Unless the 2012 version of the Ninja 250 comes with a major update, in which case I will have to see how they will compare. At the moment, the Honda has the edge thanks to its better torque and ABS brakes, which will be a godsend to a beginner like me! lol
