@limovancouver - ignore front page - everyone confuses it with 'first page', and joomla 1.7 doesn't even use it. Go to your menu manager and put the gold star next to the link you want to be the 'first page'. Hope that helps.
@FullOFaults - it is there by default, however if not you'll need to install a plugin and install the TinyMCE libraries where they need to go... Does yours not show by default? - it ships with Joomla. If not there, how to install is a little outside of a YouTube post :o
How do you get a top menu to show up on your site. I understand the heirarchy but this is ridiculous. I've been at this all day and can't get a simple menu bar on the top of my pages.
@advantagesocialmedia - good question. This will be entirely dependent on the template you are using and what 'module positions' are available. For example if the template you have doesn't designate a top menu position then unless you manually add it (a pain) you won't be able to make it show. Otherwise after the .com/ in your domain name type index (dot) php?tp=1. This will show all of the positions available. Go to module manager and make the menu show in the appropriate place.
Nevermind, found it, didnt realize it was the title of the 'home' menu item...
however now i have run into a bit of trouble setting articles to show on the index, rather the front most page of the site.... hopefully my terminology isnt too horrible
@michaelcorelone - cpanel can be accessed through adding /cpanel after your domain name. Cpanel is the interface for your hosting environment, which is also where the files of your Joomla platform sit.
I'm assuming you used the default install with sample data? Start by deleting all the articles, then categories, then sections. It must be in that order. Also, you'll have a bunch a modules you can remove. I would recommend not installing sample data if you know what you're doing. Hope this helps.
You are a very good teacher. I just started with Joomla. I need my site tweeked a little still. Would you be interested? I have done most of the inputs, but I need some help. Will pay of course. Thanks Mike
