Thanks for the advice. The video is more than one year. My swing is quite different by now. My index finger is holding the handle as to the trigger of a gun, if that is what you mean. My knees are more flexible. My swing plane is a tad flatter.
This is way too dangerous! My handicap is currently 11. This product is only good for golfer have good swing and good ball control (not necessary a professional). For new golfer or high handicap that could hock or shank the ball once a while, this could be extreme dangerous to place it in your living room.
Don't worry, the ball is soft foam ball. It will not damage anything even miss-hit. I started using it as a beginer 3+ years ago. and miss the target many many times. The only thing I broke is the blinds on the window, which is behind the target. That's why I put a curtain up.
Yes, if using real golf ball, it is extremely dangerous. Golf Channel's funiest golf video showed some cases.
Yes, the ball is soft foam ball with dimples, same size as standard golf ball. Simple physics can tell that the initial trajetoy of the soft foam ball and standard golf ball will be the same after been stroke by a club.
That's why there is no golf ball manufactory claim their ball is more accurate or forgiving than other balls. They can only make balls harder or soft to have different spin rate.
You don't get it. The product is patented, specifically designed for practice swing at home. If there is a danger to smash the 50" TV when miss-hit, you think I would show the setup publically?
For every hour of practice, I save about $5 of range ball fee. I spent at least 500 hours a year practice with this. For 2 years I saved about $5000, which can buy 2 or 3 of this TV.
Did you invent this? I like the idea, but I don't have room to use in in my house. I suppose it would still work in the backyard... if I had one :(
I could see myself hitting into that over and over. I'm a driving range rat. I never leave that place and the cost does add up. I have to quit going when money gets low.
Don't worry about the haters making fun of your swing. It may not be perfect, but I think it is better than most of the average golfers I've seen
Actually I was like you. I went to driving range after work 2 or 3 times a week. Until the day-light saving time change and the range closes at sun set.
So I invent this product. I can practice swing at home any time I want to. and save money.
The ball is soft foam ball. It will not damage the wall. But may shatter glass. That's why there is curtain behind the target panel, to protect the window.
The video is not about how good or bad my swing was. It only shows that you can use that product to practice golf swing at home. Especially, when it is raining, snowing, too cold, too hot, the driving range is too far. And it will save you money. On driving range, it cost about 10 cent per ball/swing. It adds up.
Well, I have never sliced a ball onto the TV for last 2+ years. But I did miss the target and hit the wall many times. And the bounced ball did hit the TV several times as well. Since the balls are made of soft and spongy foam. There were no damage to the wall or any other furniture.
Believ or not, I used this setup for practice swing whenever possible. I started golf June 2007. Now my last 2 round were 81 and 82.
@sallacjpko2008 yeah it is pretty good for 3 years golfing. The majority of golfers never break 100. 11 is pretty close to single digit handicap. What was your best round after 3 years of playing?
If the ball hit the target panel, it will bounce back to the left of the ball mark. A slicing ball mark shall be on the right side of the target line. The more severe the slice, the more skewed bouncing back to the left.
For a draw, the ball mark should be located on the left side of the target line. And the the ball is bouncing back to the left side of the ball mark slightly.
Yes, except putter, you can practice with all the clubs you have. With driver, you looking at landing the ball between 10 - 15 degrees area on the panel. A good drive should has not much spin, so the bouncing back is almost straight backward.
Do all you guys hating realize those balls are foam? And hi Hank Hills Neighbor

How high does your ceiling need to be?

@quadzillaxxx
8 feet is barely enough for me, 5'7". 9 feet should be good for most people.
The real danger is the club, not the soft foam ball. Find a place is safe for you to swing
or find a swing is safe for the place.
