@longdeek My guess is the thermostat, or water pump. But if it's not overheating, it's probably not the water pump. I would start with the cheapest thing first. I couldn't get my heat to work either until I changed the thermostat and flush the radiator. I'm no mechanic but I would try that. Good luck.......
@jster1963 i have same symptoms as this guy but i hear rushing water coming from behing the dash or floor area when i rev it up if heater is off ??? any ideas?
@yz100f I had the EXACT same "water under the dash" sound! I was in Miami for the first 10 years I owned the blazer and never used the heat. When I moved and needed the heat, it didn't work. I took it into the shop to fix the heat and they flushed the radiator and heater core. That fixed the heat AND the water sound. Good luck......
@modelleg Yes, but I didn't need a lot of antifreeze out of the system. Just a few cups. It is so messy when you drain from the bottom when you don't need to drain the entire rad.....
Thanks for the vid, Just did the wife's 97 Bravada which is the same setup.
I just had to undo the 2 10mm nuts holding the bracket that touches the metal inlet pipe and I had enough room to extract and replace the thermostat with little difficulty. You will likely need a 13mm deep well socket to get to the back bolt.
Also for everyone out there my coolant was bubbling out of control in my resivour. Everyone online said it was the head hasket but it was definately the thermostat. Just know that a closed up thermostat can cause the problem of bubbling coolant and bad overheating.
Thanks for the video. I had to take the throttle body off to get to the thermostat but after that it was simple. The who job took only 10 minutes and thanks again for the help.
@Blazen1212 I tried my best not to take that throttle body off! That's why I had to be a gymnast moving around it;-) Thank you and I'm glad it helped.....
@blazinloud Thank you. I take safety very seriously, but I don't know what a hood pin for the starter is. I'm just a do it yourself-er, but I will look into it. Thanks again.....
@jster1963 the hood pin is there so you cannot remote start it with the hood open. hate to have your arms down there then accidentaly push the button.
@blazinloud You are SO RITE!!! Excellent comment! From now on I will disconnect the battery when I'm under the hood. I don't know how to hook up a hood pin, but I know how to disconnect the battery. Also, I will make a comment so that others understand the hazzard of the remote start when working on their vehicles. Thanks again.......
YEA I HEAR YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for you tube and other sites i would be broke from repairs of all angles cars, house, lawn mower you name it. If its broke i come here first.
