it's called growling.

you hum a different pitch at the back of you throat.

at least that's how i do it.

i was supprised to hear it too.

usually its on the tenor and in jazz.

Growling's also easy to do if you know how to roll your tongue ie "r"s in spanish.

Why are people posting comments saying "Don't move so much while playing"? I'm an all-state tenor sax player and I move when I play.

The tone seems very suiting for this piece. It's bright to add some humor to it and make it stick out above the other instruments. You have very nice control as well. There are a few tempo problems, but nothing very noticeable to the untrained ear. The only thing I'd suggest is maybe getting your tonguing lighter to make it bounce more.
