  • BEAUTIFUL BROTHER

  • Truly beautiful music, glad I found it

  • Jack black wishes he could even compare to sexton.when sexton doesn't try

  • chris trapper and martin sexton!!!

  • In an age when most music bought, sold and broadcast is as produced/processed as high fructose corn syrup, and major record labels have Monsanto-like control over the industry, Martin Sexton defines "organic". Help decrease type II musical diabetes and listen to more Sexton. raw. pure. talent. His music is beneficial for life long consumption without the side-effects of engineered loops and auto-tuning. I don't care how many people know about him or don't; how popular he is or isn't. He's good.

  • martin sexton= jack black if he was serious about music

  • A song to end an old life and being a new to. Truly one of my top 10 songs- for now and forever.

  • The best part of this video is the fact that the audience actually shuts up and doesn't ruin the performance like every other Martin video on youtube. Please plug into a soundboard Marty and give us some good live stuff to watch!

  • wish i could hear MrTrapper a little better....i like that they didn't sing the obvious harmonies in this performance...they were creative. Professional. Beautiful.

  • Damn!!!

  • this dude ROCKED traverse city 2nite. Awesome

  • finally. a musician not from the 70s/80s that sounds good live!

  • I nominate this as the greatest Martin Sexton vid on youtube. This is really great quality and an AMAZING performance. Thanks!

  • wow...so authentic

  • Marty=Amazing!!!

  • Can't wait to see Marty in April, it's been too long since I've seen him live which was last July in Lake Placid. None greater than him, none.

  • Mr.PhD in Bio guy, I lost you! I didn't mean to close out of the window.

  • Okay, Chris Trapper is a talented singer/songwriter in his own right, not creepy at all! Get educated a little people! He and Martin are friends and tour together quite often. I love Chris and Martin singing together.

  • Jack black and john mayors love child

  • the other guy reminds me of a creepy will ferrrel character in an akward situation

  • side vocalist kind of looks like lee harvey oswald

  • Chris Trapper is amazing in this song, he makes it so much better if that could ever happen! i Can't hear this song without the harmonies he adds here. Wish they were a little louder though.

the last 20 seconds of this song is what i love about music!

  • what...no fair...its all down hill from here...apex of life...now have to live like lambeau after encountering superior genius...so nutritious

  • the last 26 seconds are why i play music...

  • Wow. I love Chris Trapper just as much as Martin Sexton, and I think he's equally underrated too.

  • Amazing. I wish I could sing like that.. On a side note he looks and sounds a bit like Jack Black.

  • @DMitch810 LOL yes, totally.

  • @DMitch810 Yeah Jack Black is totally Martin's evil twin brother. :)

  • Reminds my of John Martyn, voice and guitar.

  • Класс

  • Thanks for posting such a fantastic live video of this! I saw Martin & Chris Trapper play an outdoor show during that same tour, but no duet like this. Cheers!

  • FANTASTIC...WISH HE WOULD TRAVEL TO THE SOUTH

  • really great song-

....... I often find myself hitting repeat over and over just so I can sing along over and over.

  • Just saw him at the Ogden in Denver. He's awesome!!

  • love the beginning.

  • MY WIFES NAME IS PRONOUNCED CHERI AND THIS MAKES A GREAT SONG EVEN BETTER.

SAW THE MAN LAST NIGHT. i HOPE HE TAKES CARE OF HIMSELF, PUTTING OUT SO MUCH EVERY NIGHT.

  • Goosebumps. absolutely amazing.

  • There was an audio of Purple Rain by Marty posted on someone's Myspace fan page a couple years ago, lifted off a slightly fuzzy radio broadcast, the BEST rendition ever. can't find it anymore.

  • This is one of the greatest songs ever written.

  • Yes yes. He does a great purple rain!! this is my favorite one by him, though so many good ones. just saw him here in charleston, wv- he came to the Mountain Stage @ the Clay Center...he has one of those voices that give you goosebumps.

  • a-maze-ing...kinda sounds like jack black...a little better tho :)

  • @riversautumn6895 I agree, except martin sexton knows how to control his voice better and make it sound beautiful :>

  • has anyone heard his cover of purple rain by prince?

    he is amazing

  • Absolutely! I bought "Solo" when it first hit the shelves and it hasn't been removed from my car stereo since.

Purple Rain is the best track on it, though they all excel. When he starts in with "It's pouring rain outside", I get goosebumps every time.

  • i know

its such an amazing cover from an incredibly talented artist

  • who did the original ?

  • @mrbillymorris12 Um... YES!!! It's absolutely GORGEOUS! You said it, he is amazing :-)

  • @mrbillymorris12 shit, i saw him a couple years ago and he did the prince cover, dude is awesome!

  • @mrbillymorris12 I have a recording of it from a show he did in Burnsville, NY in like 97'. He covers 'A Day in the Life' in the same show. It's so amazing.

  • @mrbillymorris12 I have a recording of it at a show in Burnsville, NY in like 97'. He covers 'A Day in the Life' in the same show it's amazing!

  • @mrbillymorris12 I have a recording of it at a show in Burnsville, NY in like 97'. He covers 'A Day in the Life' in the same show it's amazing!

  • @mrbillymorris12 Yes, love it. Have it in my collection of bootlegs...

  • incredible: gives me the goosebumps: he speaks and it's music -- no effort needed for melodies.

  • I actually can't even believe what a talent Martin is.

  • 4:25 add to favorites XD

  • sleepydood - I totally agree. With Michael, every note counts.

  • "Glory Bound" .. such a classic Martin Sexton fave of mine! And several of you who have posted are correct in that the 'guy' standing beside Martin is, in fact, Chris Trapper, an amazing singer/songwriter, who coincidentally is opening for Martin tonight (10/17) at The Strand Theatre in Rockland, ME...if you get an opportunity to check out Chris with or without Martin..trust me..you will not be disappointed! ROCK ON..Martin and Chris...Peace and love from Syracuse..

  • I could listen to the intro all day long.

  • and that's just him tuning his guitar! :)

  • got damn, what a voice!

  • My dad knew him before he was famous. and my mom dated his room mate.

  • so I thinks to myself " how would a song by Guster sound on Uke by a chick with this amount of imagination?" Very interesting proposition I says back to myself.

  • Martin Sexton is a pure genius, he deserves the success of The Beatles, I'm not kidding

  • How had I never heard of Matt before? Wow.

Much like Michael Hedges, I'd rather listen to Matt tune his guitar for hours than see the majority of other acts these days play full sets.

    This man oozes talent.

  • Haha. Martin. I mean Martin. My mistake.

  • I love this song!

  • his voice is orgasmic. the end.

  • @jaded5683 orgasmic period.

  • trully great

  • Saw this guy sooo many years ago at High Sierra Music Fest. He was the definite highlight and there was mucho talent too. Seen him twice now at the Filmore in SF and he was awesome...did some great guitar simulation on vocals with the mic...incredible! Not nearly known enough out West.

  • it's tough far a Mass native, to make it out west, especially when you are a 1 man show, it must have been awsome to see him at the Filmore, GOD BLESS MARTIN SEXTON

  • True enough. The guy is an amazing talent.

  • What's with the guy standing beside him? lol

  • pretty sure hes hanging out singing backup.

  • I am not entirely sure but If I was to take a guess it would be Chris Trapper. They are friends from Boston. He is an artist in a band (formerly?) called The Push Stars. They opened for him on previous tours. He is touring with them currently doing a solo act I believe. YouTube his name. He is pretty decent. 'Keg on my Coffin' is a fun song by him to play if you are an acoustic songwriter. See you in Toronto on Saturday Marty!

  • your right, that is Chris Trapper. Saw him and Martin Sexton in Winnipeg last month. Great show, just amazing.

  • yep...chris rocks too! i saw them both in houston and it was awsome!!

  • hahaha...thats weird though but funny as hell. like a stalking fan or something. i wander if thats chris trapper?? i think so

  • @jamesrichardson63

Isn't this Torquil Campbell from the Canadian band "Stars?"

They opened for Martin when my wife saw them a few years back.

  • no...its Chris Trapper, although he was in "The Push Stars"

  • Ahh...either I don't listen or my wife was mistaken, either way she liked em!...thx for info

  • Nice. I love this song.
