In an age when most music bought, sold and broadcast is as produced/processed as high fructose corn syrup, and major record labels have Monsanto-like control over the industry, Martin Sexton defines "organic". Help decrease type II musical diabetes and listen to more Sexton. raw. pure. talent. His music is beneficial for life long consumption without the side-effects of engineered loops and auto-tuning. I don't care how many people know about him or don't; how popular he is or isn't. He's good.
The best part of this video is the fact that the audience actually shuts up and doesn't ruin the performance like every other Martin video on youtube. Please plug into a soundboard Marty and give us some good live stuff to watch!
wish i could hear MrTrapper a little better....i like that they didn't sing the obvious harmonies in this performance...they were creative. Professional. Beautiful.
Okay, Chris Trapper is a talented singer/songwriter in his own right, not creepy at all! Get educated a little people! He and Martin are friends and tour together quite often. I love Chris and Martin singing together.
Chris Trapper is amazing in this song, he makes it so much better if that could ever happen! i Can't hear this song without the harmonies he adds here. Wish they were a little louder though.
the last 20 seconds of this song is what i love about music!
Thanks for posting such a fantastic live video of this! I saw Martin & Chris Trapper play an outdoor show during that same tour, but no duet like this. Cheers!
There was an audio of Purple Rain by Marty posted on someone's Myspace fan page a couple years ago, lifted off a slightly fuzzy radio broadcast, the BEST rendition ever. can't find it anymore.
Yes yes. He does a great purple rain!! this is my favorite one by him, though so many good ones. just saw him here in charleston, wv- he came to the Mountain Stage @ the Clay Center...he has one of those voices that give you goosebumps.
@mrbillymorris12 I have a recording of it from a show he did in Burnsville, NY in like 97'. He covers 'A Day in the Life' in the same show. It's so amazing.

"Glory Bound" .. such a classic Martin Sexton fave of mine! And several of you who have posted are correct in that the 'guy' standing beside Martin is, in fact, Chris Trapper, an amazing singer/songwriter, who coincidentally is opening for Martin tonight (10/17) at The Strand Theatre in Rockland, ME...if you get an opportunity to check out Chris with or without Martin..trust me..you will not be disappointed! ROCK ON..Martin and Chris...Peace and love from Syracuse..
so I thinks to myself " how would a song by Guster sound on Uke by a chick with this amount of imagination?" Very interesting proposition I says back to myself.
Saw this guy sooo many years ago at High Sierra Music Fest. He was the definite highlight and there was mucho talent too. Seen him twice now at the Filmore in SF and he was awesome...did some great guitar simulation on vocals with the mic...incredible! Not nearly known enough out West.
it's tough far a Mass native, to make it out west, especially when you are a 1 man show, it must have been awsome to see him at the Filmore, GOD BLESS MARTIN SEXTON
I am not entirely sure but If I was to take a guess it would be Chris Trapper. They are friends from Boston. He is an artist in a band (formerly?) called The Push Stars. They opened for him on previous tours. He is touring with them currently doing a solo act I believe. YouTube his name. He is pretty decent. 'Keg on my Coffin' is a fun song by him to play if you are an acoustic songwriter. See you in Toronto on Saturday Marty!
i listen to this song whenever i need to just calm down..like for example doin highschool homework...haha it just makes me feel soo much better.. thx for posting!

has anyone heard his cover of purple rain by prince?
he is amazing
mrbillymorris12 2 years ago 22
Absolutely! I bought "Solo" when it first hit the shelves and it hasn't been removed from my car stereo since.
Purple Rain is the best track on it, though they all excel. When he starts in with "It's pouring rain outside", I get goosebumps every time.

Much like Michael Hedges, I'd rather listen to Matt tune his guitar for hours than see the majority of other acts these days play full sets.
