  • Buffalo does the Hay River to Yellowknife run as a scheduled passenger service but they also haul freight and people with DC-3s all over, and freight and bulk fuel with DC-4s and C-46s all over Canada and even outside Canada. You can charter a Buffalo DC-3 to haul passengers or cargo anywhere, anytime you need to go.

  • That was fantastic.... I have not been on a 3 in years.

  • just awesome....incredible......maybe not incredible.........just awesome

  • I like the DC3 but would rather ride on the DC4

  • @ sibtupolev - Joe owns Buffalo Airways but lives in Hay River so usually flies the 3 to get home. I do love aviation and have had tons of DC-3 flights.

  • Was Joe flying this plane? He usually does the Hay River flight. Good video...and Buffalo operates the one and only DC-3 in the world that still has a scheduled passenger run.

  • @lexany I don't remember the pilot's name but it could be Joe. Buffalo staff are great, all of them. I wrote them a few month in advance to be sure to fly a DC-3 and I had a warm welcome. If you love aviation, you must go there and fly with them!

  • Nothing but respect for an aircraft that is still viable OVER 70 YEARS after it was introduced. And listen to those gorgeous radials purr - simply beautiful

  • NOVA did a great episode on this aircraft, reviewing how several innovations in aircraft design all came together at the same time to produce a very rugged machine that could be modified for many applications. The title was "The Plane that Changed the World".

  • Do they still fly as airliners? I never got to go on one there banned in england

    :(

  • @crabmaniac1 only Buffalo still fly the DC3 but it only flys this route.

  • That engine sounds incredible <3

  • did yall drop some paratroopers along the way? XD

  • Damn, that plane is in better condition than the runway at YZF.

  • over 60 years on and STILL hard at work, i can't see a modern pressurized jet like a DC9 747 or A380 being hard at work in 60 years time, though i would place my bets on a DC3 still flying

  • What a flying coffin..

  • @Dragon22873 a flying coffin?? are you kidding me. its only one of the most reliable aircraft that has ever flown. i think they are safer than any modern jet aircraft. there has never been a structural failure of a dc3 ever. they are quite safe, i assure you. learn something about history before you open you uneducated mouth

  • @ad356 Hold on here smartass, what does me expressing my opinion having to do with me learning history and being uneducated? I most likely know more than you do about aircraft. Stick to your video games and keep your mouth closed instead of wearing your ignorance on your sleeve. Fucking retard.

  • @Dragon22873 you called a dc3 a flying coffin, dumb ass. you expect me to respect that dumb ass. that aircraft has has had a longer service life than any other aircraft on the planet. when maintained and flown properly it is a safe and reliable aircraft. when someone calls a dc3 a flying coffin, i find that to be a really dumb statement. the dc3 has proven time and time again that no aircraft can replace the dc3 for certain applications. you my friend are the dumb ass.

  • @ad356 Do I really give a shit what this aircraft is or has? It's shit, I think it's shit, and that's that. If you don't like other peoples opinions on the internet, I suggest you either shut off your computer or delete your Youtube account. Fucking idiot.

  • @Dragon22873 its only your opinion and most people will disagree with you. history disagrees with you as well. it is a proven aircraft, proven countless times. if you hate the dc3 why the hell are you even watching this video. i will keep my youtube account, i enjoy historical aircraft, cars, and tractors. you are entitled to your opinion but sometimes opinions are better kept to yourself. i volunteer at a local museum that owns an airworthy c47 that participated in d day. its awesome

  • @ad356 Funny thing actually, I didn't watch the video. Why do look at women when you like men? Same thing.

  • New runway?...

  • @Roetgen72

What's wrong with the runway? All those cracks are impossible to avoid in northern climates. The freeze thaw cycle causes all our roads and everything pretty much to crack up. they fill the cracks with tar and away you go.

  • @jayturf It was a joke. You're right! Thanks..

  • dude...your risky using Buffalo airlines...watch Ice Pilots sometime...you'll see what i'm saying...their safety rating sucks

  • Does anybody know if these are still in active service? I guess this video partially answers my question. It seems so cool that they would be so old and still flying, yet a bit hard to believe given today's litigious environment.

  • Check on their website. It was 3 years ago. Great experience! Great crew! Great airlines!

  • Thanks for the info. My grandma used to be a flight attendant, and I would imagine this is the sort of plane she flew on...

  • Buffalo Airways still operates this on passenger services; I just checked on their website. Man, would it be great to fly on one of these classics!!

  • @Nick410s Yep Buffalo Airways has a couple of DC 3's still in service as well as a DC4 and a couple of Electras

  • there is still a cargo and charter airline in the philippines that uses dc-3

  • Comment removed

  • I used to work for PBA on Cape Cod back in the 80's. We had one with 96,000 hours on it.

  • Cool!

  • @lucabrasi1337

thats very low hours considering age....

NW/DL recently just retired a DC-9-30 that as about 40-41 hrs old with about 103,000 hours on the clock.

  • I really like tha toyu can hear all of the mechanical parts of the engine wind up as the power increases. Very cool...

  • i live in England

and absoulety adore these aircrafts and would love to fly in one before i die.

If anyone nos where i cna get a flight in one in the UK let me Know.

  • What i don't understand is how the prop can be all blurry and turn so slowly, become stationary and even go backwards! And the aircraft still flies! Amazing piloting skill!

And yes i am kidding :-P

  • is it me or does the runway look broken up in pieces?

  • It's not you

  • it looks cracked and patched

  • its an old runway, patch up the cracks with tar

  • Man, that's just sooo cool. That's one thing I want to do before I die ;D

  • cool

  • calling a flying coffin a DC3..dude show some respect!

  • @kubanpanzer

The guy obviously has no idea what he's talking about. The DC-3 is one of the best - if not THE best - designed aircraft in the history of manned flight.

  • A DC-3 is an unpressurized aircraft, the airframe's lifespan is practically unlimited as far as i know

  • Yes, I saw the second highest time one is 82,000 hours and still flying with no trouble, these are only 20,000 or so, for the most part. (82,000 hours @ 150MPH is about 12 million miles.)

  • take a video of the engine @ night

  • Flew in one of these in Coventry UK 2003,

    Brilliant Bone shaker!!!!

  • Awesome video:)

  • wow cool lol

  • very cool indeed !!!

  • the runway looks even more than 65 years old!
