@SirSirRobin Having grown up around cattle in Australia I can tell you now that slitting an animals throat does not magically kill it instantly. They lose a lot of blood pressure instantly that is for sure but even a cut across the trachea and arteries can still result in a lucid state and it can still breath (much like a tracheotomy) even if only for 5 minutes - it is still 5 minutes too long.
