Apathy. I first heard Offspring last year, as I was one of the true nonmainstream and never thought punk meant anything. When I listen, it's not about politics or even conveyed ideas. It's all stolen anyways, we just repackage it. The point of music is sharing it with friends easier with the same ideas... but I'm still just a fool. But I'm glad to be one. All it is nostalgia.

It's commentary is both angry and subversive, using a 'bubble gum' rhythm and 'formula' of cliches as a counterpoint to the content of the lyrics. Oh, and the Casbah is a reference to the Clash's song "Rock the Casbah", which is in many ways the same kind of song. Enjoy your social bandaid, you're going to need it.

punk died in the 1980's it was a movement that lasted almost the whole decade and was about feeling and inspiration compiled into two or three minutes of pure angst. Punk music was never about money AT ALL! the only reason that real punk bands got any money was so they could play in more venues and pay for the transportation to different gigs. It has always been about not giving a shit about what anyone thinks. bands with thousands of screaming fans and huge tour busses aint Punk their spoiled!
