  • Try to play with this video.

    watch?v=LJ4R6qnNUWk&feature=related

    Enjoy!!!!

  • @Navyseals3 watch?v=l_VQiou_Cgw You should try with this one.

  • @Necrolokost It is a nice one. This one is diving, really beautiful. But Chopin is just like shipwreck. Feels like strong wind, strong waves.....

  • At first when I read some of these comments I wanted to laugh at the incorrect grammar by some non-native english speaker typing his comment into google translate. Then I realized all that meant was Americans and Brits weren't enjoying this. T_T

  • not a big horowitz fan but this is very well done

  • I have yet to see a better interpretation of this Etude.

  • can you the hear the sea?

  • I watched this, and then bbc's so-called "kung fu" piano and LOLed

  • Bravo!

  • Perfectly played IMO

  • i heard this while on my waterbed. and call me insane but i think the waterbed was trying to fuck me.

  • His hands are so fast I can't even see them moving!

  • I took a simple joke too far, didn't I?

  • The reason we can hear the sound is because it is dictated by our thought, what we expect, the same force that holds the universe together.

  • @CoolCat123450 i got a joke.

horowitz once drove to god's house. god opened the window. on witch horowitz said. I would like a big mac with double fries.

god and horowitz once had a discussion about who was more awesome.

horowitz said, i played choping, scarlatti and rachmaninov once... before i got on stage.

on witch god replied, i made mankind.

horowitz said, o yeah i herd something about that, weren't you the one that made rosie o'donnel.

    horowitz epic win!!

  • The reason we cannot see Horowitz actually playing is because it's so far out that it takes the light time to come to our eyes.

  • but chopin was no JEW. jews always try to claim everything

  • so? Think about it: Albert Einstein, Arthur Rubinstein, Harry Houdini Sigmund Freud Bobby Fischer, the greatest chess players ever Jerry Seinfeld Garry Kasparov, the best currently Hshachmtai Tommy Hilfiger ..... And there's lots - you see all the best people were Jews! Including the Vladimir Horwits
  • @TalBarakPiano You're completely right! Not to forget that the best soaps were made of jews :-)

  • He was a Jew just like me Jews are the best in all!

    יהודי כמוני!

    היהודים הכי טובים בכל!

  • @TalBarakPiano Horowitz was also gay!

  • @waltwhittwit Think about it: Albert Einstein, Arthur Rubinstein, Harry Houdini Sigmund Freud Bobby Fischer, the greatest chess players ever Jerry Seinfeld Garry Kasparov, the best currently Hshachmtai Tommy Hilfiger ..... And there's lots - you see all the best people were Jews! Including the Vladimir Horwits
  • yeah, Jews probably mount up all that evidence to make them not feel so bad about killing Jesus. Until they accept him, they will suffer the wrath of God. That's what the bible says. and you can see it in the world today.

  • @retrogamerdave you can see it in the world today? we run the entertainment industry, we run the Legal system aswell as many others Jews are some of the most succesful people in America

  • @rutzen21 Thank you! Outliers by Malcom Gladwell also shines some light on how successful Jews have been, despite and often because of how badly society has treated them.

  • When I listen to Horowitz play this I literally get the chills. With litsitsa....nothing. Down with the robot pianists!

  • @guitarguru1040 THANK GOD SOMEONE finally agrees me with on Valentina's interpretation! Her interpretation of this master Etude is just soso robotic and she makes it more of a technical exercise rather than the beautiful piece of music that it is!

  • @darkkerrigan i like valentina a lot more than horowitz but i like this ocean etude better than hers a lot

  • when will come the time to play this

  • I thought Lisitsa had the best rendition but the wonderful Horowitz too and his performance is very "original"

  • Little Mermaid... step aside!!!!

  • horowitz is amazing

i bet listening to his live preformance could put people in such a trance it will be wery dificult to get out of it

he is one of my favorite pianists of all times i wouldve gave the world to go back in time and hear him play live

  • Incredible performance....The best pianist fo all time.

  • speechless...

  • Oh to have hands like that!

  • Never forget: Titles of music - usually just cheap sales tricks by music publishers! Beethoven NEVER mentioned anything about "Moonlight". But "Ocean etude", it's OK!

  • I PLAY THIS PIECE AND IT IS FUN! although I'm not as good as Horowitz... and might never be.

  • 6 people have feel seasick xD

  • 6 persons find that the ocean is cold today

  • This is so amazing..goosebumps EVERY time! <3 Horowitz

  • He always makes me feel touching eternity...

  • Yes, fantstic. What is this from--recording, live performance?

  • damn i can FEEL the ocean in his playing. feel the strength of the waves that mercilessly rise and break down and in this majestic manner shape the whole image of the sea. hes painting with sounds like nobody else, its fantastic.

  • horowitz rules...forever and ever

  • i mean...so powerfull. Is Horowitz for sure

  • 5 people likes hip hop lol

  • @TheFeuillesMortes it would appear so. im glad people keep commenting. hkeeps returning me to listen to this piece.

  • You know, this piece isn't as hard as you imagine, memorizing it may be tricky, but the rhythm is the same throughout, so it is a matter of memorizing the appropriate notes to play and then picking up speed. Performing it like horowitz will take years, but to perform it shouldn't take too long. Go to IMSLP (google it) and look for Etude Op. 25 No. 12 to find the sheets for this.

  • It gives me chills. Every time.

  • Chopin composed it and played it. Insanity.

  • This kills for any hope of sitting in peace- I'm all antsy.

  • well i think this a kind of too much show off...this etude is not intended to make such a speed, it is sure good to be able to play in such a tempo, but this shouldnt mean to f**k the etude up just because you wanna make speed. pollini or richter plays this etude better than horowitz. because the arpeggios in the mid, should certainly be heard. here are the arpeggios...just swallowed...it is easier to play this piece so, than play it slower and make the given nuances...

  • @paganviodio Etude means practice. So when you practice you play things how you interpret it. So what I am saying is that you can play it anyway you want to play it.

  • Chopin...lovely to listen to, difficult to play. If there were pictures/video clips of the ocean to compliment this it would be perfect!

  • The genius it took to write this piece, and the wsonderful preformance from Horowitz. the 3 people who dont like this can go to hell for all i care

  • A wonderful performance!

  • Chopin the genius, Horowitz the pianist.

  • The compositions of prokofiev and the interpretations of Horowitz make vibrate like a piano string. They both trigger something indescribable in me. To this day, I do not understand it and do not know where it comes from or its significance. I thought they were BOTH reborn in me but I was born before they BOTH died and I certainly do not have any of their genius.

  • 2 people only like justin bieber

  • @AlbertXWang Just no

  • lol... at the top comment

  • 2 people sank into the ocean

  • Incredible! in this interpretation the midtones almost sound like they're rippling like water. Horowitz always knew when to put all these subtle accents to give such character to a piece.

  • I get to learn this etude for school! Im so excited!!

  • Amazing how he can play this faster without even moving his hands!

  • @Xiphosss it's just the same effect that one can witness in a fast moving wheel :)

  • @Xiphosss hilarious. Epic Phail.

  • The video was cut out, because the last person who watched him play this immediately combusted

  • A genius is palying!! Vladimir Horowitz'll stay in music legend for ever and ever!!!!

  • 2 people drowned in this song

  • @SSvolksgrenadier

My god it is rare I spit up anything while watching YouTube videos...you got me, lol.

  • @SSvolksgrenadier

I Think It's up To 5 Now! lol

  • Please, could you tell me where did you find this recording?

  • i was the first one to dislike this video for one reason.. i love it so much i have to hate it!

  • @nightywhitey what?

  • @nightywhitey You made me laugh, really! I liked the video though

  • @CarlthePianowoman dont get me wrong I love Chopins pieces! i just hate learning them haha. like this one.. i will never be able to play this one.

  • @nightywhitey Did you really thumbed the video down?

  • @shenkeey yes i did. lol. its a great song i just wanted to be first OWNED!!!

  • @nightywhitey That's one of the most horrible things you could do to someone uploading a video :x

  • fantastic little finger... so magic, and emotional...

  • It's not Horowirz. It's me playing.

  • @alienacidtechno

I thought Horowitz past away some years ago, but... hello Mr. Horowitz, wellcome back!

  • Love the accentuation of the higher notes... Great interpretation. Love it! :-)

  • DEFINATELY THE BEST RECORDING EVER

  • this is by fare the best recording i have heard....

  • Zero people dislike the ocean.

  • I've already heard when i was a child in the 80's that he was one of the famous but in fact he is much better than that.

I imagine many musician from all horizons trying playing smoothly like him even not so fast strongly and clearly as himself with elegance in fact...

Trying trying trying.. the summit is far away and thin ...

    Thanks for that colored gift..

  • This doesn't sound like Horowitz.... could it be Cziffra?

  • Wonderful!

  • <3 this one so much sends shivers all over everytime i hear it lol

  • roll

  • That's not Horowitz. Its not his piano.

  • @CharlesWilburPiano its a piano roll of him...

  • what album is this from? I want to purchase the CD.

  • No, "Octave" is Op.25 No.10 this is the "Ocean" Etude.
