no, that's because of i only have a normal usb controller and it stays grey. I searched it in google and many other users have the same problem. But at least the 360 controller fits good in hand ^^

LOL. Who negatively rated my comment? I have been a games developer for years; if you think you know better, I'd be happy to hear an explanation.
Why is it impossible? Because it takes hours to render, that's why. In Blender, for example, it takes on average 50 hours to bake an accurate fluid simulation.
Particles/shaders do not "simulate" water! Look carefully at 0:16. You can clearly see the flat blue textures! -.-
Search "Fluid Simulation" in Wikipedia for the true method.
Technically, Its not impossible. People are now working on games harder than ever. Its been advancing alot. Yes, It would take awhile, but eventually, Theyll make it if well buy it. Ya know?
You're right. I phrased it wrong. I meant it would be impossible [at the moment] for Crysis to have implemented such a feature. It can be done with an 8800 Nvidia using DX10, but it's still rather crude and inefficient to be used in games. In the future realtime fluid simulation will be normal, but at the moment everything is done using pseudo-techniques such as particles and shaders. ;)
That's not realtime water simulation. Realtime water simulation is impossible. The true method takes hours to "bake". What you see here is the emission of many particles with blue textures, basically.
It is not impossible it just requires extremely powerfull hardware. This is done using a particle effects where each particle has collision physics. The only thing that stop this being impossible for modern hardware, is that the particles don't collide with each other
@openracing true water physics is impossible to this date yes, but many companies use small balls to simulate water, this works rather well, just not 100%, although you wouldn't see the difference.
Damn man, thats crazy! I gotta add something like this in one of my maps. Nice job on getting water physics, is it done with simple collision or simple physics in particles editor, or something different?
that was scary
yeah i know but realy that was scary ^^

How you make that?

What sort of CPU would be need to render fluid in realtime, with about 1 million particles :)

can i connect a controller on my pc and play crysis
i just got into pc gaming and im still used to analogs

Yeah, if it is a usb controller, there's a gamepad option menu for setting it up in Crysis.

@openracing
This IS real time. -.- The water as Genome said is that the water particles don't react with each other.

You should render some videos using capture_frames so we can see the full wave without the stutter.
34minutes 4 years ago
I want to do this all in Realtime, no precomputation...
Genome66 4 years ago
Yeah, we know it's impressive. But still you're getting 2-3fps on that video, and we can't see the water in it's true smooth motion glory.
34minutes 4 years ago 6
Yeh I'm going to optimize the particle effect. You get the idea though.

jackoneill45 4 years ago 2
You see the collision of the particles, but the physics is invisible and is behind what you to make the water act like real.
