1. he has skills. 2. about 99% of the tracks are remakes of classics. 3. the hipster track is the only one that addresses the state of music today. no other track really has a message (except one about drugs and his family done over a cnn beat).

If it wasn't for groups like Tribe Called Quest and MC's like Common Sense there wouldn't be a hip-hop. They kept shit going in the 90's, back when money and style didn't matter, just ill beats and dope rhymes, aka good music. And now look at how wack shit is with Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne type cats. In all honesty this dude rappin on this vid ain't even that amazing or anything. He's ok, but I wouldn't put him in the legend category like Q-Tip or Common.

i listen to the kids mixtape, and hes definitely no less talented than any of the guys hes ripping. i respect the lyrics of common in his heyday and maybe some mos def. but after a while, true hip hop fans wanna hear the rhyme skill AND an authentic street sound. hipster rappers are entertainers who appeal to soft college kids when harder stuff is just too much for them.

I agree with a good portion of this list. On one hand I am a huge fan of "real" hip hop. I grew up on Nas, BTNH, the Wu, etc. but I also don't think that the current mainstream artists are hipsters or fakers or whatever just because they dress differently or spit a different game. Music evolves, it changes. Even pop music nowadays sounds and looks WAY different than it did in the 90s or 80s. So is it fair to call lupe or talib packaged because they're pants ain't hanging low?

I never have got rap disses. Doesn't make no sense why should say how much someone else sucks if you're really that good. Hipster is definitely not what I would call alot of the people he names. I would classify more of them as "vintage" than hipster (see' how he's mostly basing this on how they dress). I feel like people don't even know what hipster means? just downloaded his 'big city phildelphia' mixtape. few things come to mind:
1. he has skills. 2. about 99% of the tracks are remakes of classics. 3. the hipster track is the only one that addresses the state of music today. no other track really has a message (except one about drugs and his family done over a cnn beat).
all in all, same old content. for what it's worth i did enjoy the remake of slick rick's 'childrens story' (gangster story).
