  • Hey confused by what exactly a hipster is? Check out my latest video on my channel for an exclusive interview with a world renowed hipster expert!

  • THAT SHIT WAS FUNNY!! ;D Great remake of the original. Good lookin, Big City :)

  • Shit, it's fucked up how almost every rapper this guy mentions is way better then anything anyone has heard in a while and they still don't get enough credit. Just 'cause you've been in jail and wear your pants down to your ass doesn't mean your not a good rapper. I mean you never know, maybe this "hipster" rap can "save hip-hop".

  • Love the pics

  • in the course of 3 minutes he shot and robbed half of my ipod.

  • the guy is a dumbass and now is in jail for transporting special K over the border

  • LOL that talib line killed me

  • this guys a fag and would get murked by any of those rappers he name dropped

  • @killacam206ickxxx internet thug.

  • so let me get this straight real hip hop is about robbing niggers and killing them

  • ladies ladies ladies!!! you are looking way past the point ITS FUNNY HES CLOWIN DUDES THAT YOU LOVE AND DREAM ABOUT SO YOUR GETTIN YOUR PANTIES ALL TANGLED UP....dope! We need more City!

  • Funny thing is that Lupe got killers out in Chi. Too bad he can kill dude lyrically or literally.

  • @keybladekid0 got that right im a fan of 95% of them but this was funny i laughed

  • this is dope but u disses some people who didnt deserve it

  • @3dakainsane anybody a target in hip hop.. thats why you need "real lyrics" and not no wack ass gimmick..

  • lol

  • Comment removed

  • ight dope songs nice rhyme and delivery but i dont agree with the shot he fired....some of these niggas can actually rap

  • So Lupe, Kweli, and Mos Def are hipster? When did I miss that? And Wale dumb nice he proved he ain't none of those other rappers. Smh 50 should smack dude for ruining his song :-\

  • Mos Def and Kweli are dope as fuck. Classic hip-hop. Reflection Eternal and Blackstar. Dope shit.

  • I'm well aware of that. I was using sarcasm when I asked if they were hipsters. And I love there BlackStar album.

  • ah kewl

  • "Hipsters you better realize I'm fresh out the joint

So when I see them skinny jeans... Well you get the point"

    ^

    Pause?

  • everyone needs to realize that big city is one of the dopest artists out to date. his mixtape is a breath of fresh air, but i think this song isnt about hating its about pointing out what popular in hip hop right now and how gay it is

  • I listen to everyone he mentioned

  • what the fuck?

  • Bikes for my daughter, her birthday 'round the corner. lol

  • daaamn, my anthem

  • mhmm ... notice he didn't get at Curren$y.

  • track is fire. and this shit early too, way before jigga's death of auto-tune. way to stay ahead of the curve city.

  • You maaaad doggie?

  • your stupid ass with prob shoot ya own dick off trying to play cowboy.

  • dude I went to school at the Milt with PHIL, AKA Big CITY. He was like a big brother to me even though I am bigger then him now.... Let me break it down for the Haters, if and when he makes it big time, it could never happen to a better guy.... He never used his pass life when I knew him as a crutch. He messed up when he left the MILT, however he is on to better things, if u knew the dude u would be proud. He deserves success more then people ever will know.

    Do your thing Phil!!!

  • pierce media, ur an idiot. why u bringing up racism? he never targets black people, he targets hipsters, and some of them are black, some are white, some are sri lankan, some are mixed black and white, hispanic, etc. the guy is just dissing their style. you're a racist for criticizing him based on the fact that he's white.

  • So this Italian guy likes Black rappers only if they are thuggish and promote violence, smokin' and the usual rap cliches.. but if you try somethign new, he calls you a hipster and you should get robbed. i know it's a joke, but he clearly only like stereotypical Black folks that don't challenge his brain.

  • Don't make it deeper than wut it is

  • Yeah b/c people want to use the stereotypical people.

  • @PierceMedia You gotta know South Philly. It's pretty much an Italian and black area of the city, but lately hipsters have been moving in, esp. close to center city. There's been some clashes between Italians and hipster (though its pretty one-sided if you know what I mean) Fuck gentrification

  • hahaha imagine cudi rapping on this beat. that would be the funniest thing i ever heard. cudi would "rob u for ur purse cause the one i already got is worse..."

  • Mean, but funny.

  • lol. bro if you tried to rob m.i.a you'd probably end up being killed by tamil tigers.

  • is this the same sonjay that was chatting with city at that show in queens back in august, and tried to give city her number? if it's the same sonjay, i just pulled ur card, cause u were busted in the face and ur body was wack, and now ur just bitter cause he told u he was married when u hollered. lol what an ugly bitch. no lie people, sonjay is a crusty ugly west indian bitch with no tits and a flat ass. she's a failure as a groupie.

  • Sonjay is my middle name, you fucktard. I don't know who the hell you're talking about. Jesus.

  • Uhh...did anyone else think the whole "I'm straight out the joint, so when I see them skinny jeans...well, you get the point" line kinda gay?? 0:21

  • not really cos he clarifies it with the line after

  • Lmfao...

  • Comment removed

  • lmao.. i love everyone he rapped about but he honestly did do a good job on it...

lol, havent heard a song this funny since the actual how to rob.. lol..

  • Relax, hipsters. He's not a hater. He's just making fun of you. You guys come off so liberal and now someone pokes fun at you and calls you gay and you get all PC on our asses. just relax, it's funny

  • Rap died around 94'

This guy is bringing it back

  • shut the hell up lmao you a asshole for that one

  • i was really looking for a reason to hate on this, but this shit is pretty hilarious.

  • Phil, love it brother!

  • phil i love you!! you are so funny.

  • i dunno bout that. he has more than a few tracks on his mixtape that show serious rhyming ability. big city state of mind was pretty impressive. another one called outlaw about his father is lyrically on point. he's pretty legit.

  • Haha, that's funny! However, I hope Big City realizes that all of these rappers are better than him.

  • HAHAHAHA FIRE

  • THis is why AMericans are so angry. All they so is hurt each other. I want the real hip hop that is Kanye West and Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Forget the fake gangster stuff. That was created by Dr dre and Snoop in the 90s.

  • moron, dre and snoop didn't invent gangster rap. i cant even address everything u just said - too much anger (im american).

  • You been listening to rap like what? 5 years tops? Bet you like Aesop Rock too

  • I just created this account now cause I wanted to comment on this video. Am I the same as evollce and staqs4dayz? I just wanna say I don't think much of the vid, but I do think anyone vehemently defending Q-Tip and Common is the same type who was bullied in high school, and is in need of vagisil.

  • I dont get that eryka badu clip with shwartzenegger. the fuck is on his head?

  • Thats his headrap from terminator lol. I guess he looks like Badu with it on. That shit is pure comedy.

  • hahahaa @ 2:00

  • Fucking haters this shit is beyond lame

  • True dat.

  • Like KRS-One said "Hip means to know, it's a form of intelligence, to be Hip is to be update and relevant."

This video sucks, just another hater. Very good artists mentioned on the track.

  • UR the hater, not this artist. He's at least doing his commentary through rhymes over a dope beat. Ur just talkin ish acapella on some spoken turd.

  • His 'commentary' is only ripping artists - Talib Kweli, Common, Mos Def, Lupe [some of the best rappers right now] as well as some of the newest rappers with great potential like Asher Roth and Kid Cudi. I don't like it. Why am I a hater? And KRS-One is one of the greatest MC's ever - no doubt worthy of quoting, especially when he speaks the truth.

  • everyone involved in this conversation is gay. hip hop is all about dissing and seeing who can do it better. if u cant stand the competition, go listen to showtunes. and dude is right about doing it creatively instead of anonymously on a youtube comment. fayg.

  • Thats were ur wrong. Hip-Hop ain't about 'dissing and seeing who can do it better', maybe when your battling someone - but in this song this cat just says everyone is gay and then moves on to the next guy and does it again. There is no competition, cause they ain't battlin, so fuck showtunes. And as far as anonymously, you and staqs4dayz are ones to talk, creating an account yesterday, not posting shit on your profile and then typin' that ignorance in these comments.

  • And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Evollce and staqs4dayz are the same people seeing as ya'll created an account yesterday just to talk shit about what I said. Ya'll probably some male groupies, of this criminal. Anyways, I was just giving my opinion, I didn't like it, some people do - nothin' wrong with that. I just didn't like him knockin' every good rapper out right now. It isn't any disrespect to this artist, cause I saw his rooftop freestyle and that was good. Just didn't like this.

  • wow, now q-tip and common are saviors of hip hop. funny how you can't name one quotable line from either of them. just a lotta album filler lyrics. bottom line is in their hayday they were still getting clowned by street mcees.

  • Q-Tip and Common?? Really? wow

  • ur gonna tell us tip and common didnt have that coming? have u seen any of there latest videos? i would say big city gave them a pass by calling them hipsters instead just coming wit it and callin them f@ggets. he was respectful to only call them hipsters. and if they give a sh!t about hip hop, they would appreciate the comment and check themselves. give the kid credit for callin it like he sees it, regardless of who he's takin shots at.

  • If it wasn't for groups like Tribe Called Quest and MC's like Common Sense there wouldn't be a hip-hop. They kept shit going in the 90's, back when money and style didn't matter, just ill beats and dope rhymes, aka good music. And now look at how wack shit is with Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne type cats. In all honesty this dude rappin on this vid ain't even that amazing or anything. He's ok, but I wouldn't put him in the legend category like Q-Tip or Common.

  • who cares, some will like this others wont

  • I hate hipsters, but none of the rappers mentioned are hipsters. Just because you're not rapping about blasting someone's grandmother's head off or selling kilos of crack to first graders does not make you a hipster.

  • Common,Lupe,Wale,Kid Cudi,Q-tip,Mos Def,Talib Kweli & Mickey Factz aren't hipster.Shit, probably alot more artist that you mentioned weren't hipsters. You just hating on as many nigs as you can and get more views.

  • Fuck baggy jeans.

  • thats so gay u want dudes to wear tight pants so u could see his nuts

  • I fucking hate hipsters

  • song is hot but the dude is out of his mind hahaha

  • I love all artist you were dissin but this was still dope. Nice 50 remake

  • Agreed. I honestly prefer hipster to gangsta rap, but I gotta admit this was hot.

  • and all you seem to be saying is that you like east coast gangsta/golden-age rap more than other kinds of hip-hop, so therefore other acts are corporate and packaged to be sold to skinny white kids. that makes no sense

  • i listen to the kids mixtape, and hes definitely no less talented than any of the guys hes ripping. i respect the lyrics of common in his heyday and maybe some mos def. but after a while, true hip hop fans wanna hear the rhyme skill AND an authentic street sound. hipster rappers are entertainers who appeal to soft college kids when harder stuff is just too much for them.

  • well i'm one of those "suburban white teenagers" who happens to like some hipter rappers, but also listen to artists like lord finesse, big l, cormega, gang starr, az...etc. and what defines a "true hip hop fan"? do you have to be black and only listen to artists with "rhyme skill AND an authentic street sound"? you're an idiot and just as ignorant as the people who listen to corporate shit...why don't you run along with your ignorant friends and bitch about how much you hate everyone else.

  • you're not even making an argument any more. who gives a fuck what posters college kids have on their walls? doesn't make that type of rap more corporate, doesn't make it inferior, and doesn't change the fact that this cat in this video is calling out some much more talented emcees because he thinks their clothes look gay

  • moreover, who do you think is buying the majority of contemporary gangsta rap albums? my guess is those suburban white teenagers, but i guess i don't have access to your "demographics of record sales." the only reason 50 and all these clowns sell as much as they do is because white boys think it'd be cool to drive around in cars listening to music about killing people.

  • i dont need official data to tell u that every college campus across the US has more dorms with posters of tribe called quest, talib, and mos def than cormega, tragedy khadafi, big pun, lord finesse. content isnt the issue. its how a certain style appeals to a certain audience. if u think universal isnt telling q-tip how to dress in videos in order to reach a college audience, then u just dont understand how the game works.

  • @oscar2bk

tribe called quest? suburban corporate rap acts? you fucking kid yourself. have you listened to that black star album? or heard anything that's come out of mos def's mouth for the past 5 years? sure as hell isn't aimed at pleasing suburban white kids

  • i have listened to the cool kids and it does not sound like rap for white people. i would more consider eminem rap for white people. there is nothing in the lyrics of cool kids music that white people that can actually relate to. and that goes for most rap music anyways.

  • I agree with a good portion of this list. On one hand I am a huge fan of "real" hip hop. I grew up on Nas, BTNH, the Wu, etc. but I also don't think that the current mainstream artists are hipsters or fakers or whatever just because they dress differently or spit a different game. Music evolves, it changes. Even pop music nowadays sounds and looks WAY different than it did in the 90s or 80s. So is it fair to call lupe or talib packaged because they're pants ain't hanging low?

  • but the cool kids are TOTALLY hip hop made for white people. Still...listen to them even though I'm not white but. Oh, and M.I.A. is a mainstream hipster...but her music isn't hip hop so I'm not sure how that's relevant

  • if this dude ever makes it big ..he's goona need a beat or a feature from a hipster..but this song iz fuuny as shit

  • Comment removed

  • Even Peter Rosenberg pulled Talib's card when he asked how it felt to be the favorite rapper of every white girl who just got into hip hop. When Peter Rosenberg is pulling your card, it's a bad sign.

Everyone on this record has been a&r'ed, cultivated, dressed, and marketed at one time or another to target a middle-American, 'intro to hip hop' audience. That's the only reason you know their names. Kudos to an unknown starving artist who hit the nail on the head.

  • Hit the nail on the head? More like attempted to steal some of the attention for himself. This is for publicity and we all feel for it. Decent song. Would like to hear more from him.

  • anyone can see this dude aint sub par, whether u like him or not. the fact u defend suburban corporate rap by shitting on a talented dude from the street is pretty bad. the problem with rap today is there are 2 many people like u involved. difference btwn u and me is im not sayin that to shit on anyone, just sayin it cause its true.

all suburban corporate rap acts (and this is FACT based on demographics of record sales):

    -mos def

    -talib

    -common

    -q-tip

  • @oscarb2k:

learn how to read. i said *some* of the best emcees (tip, common [back in the day], talib, mos def [black on both sides]). sayin these guys are dope doesn't take anything away from the cats you listed

  • u show ur true colors when u say that. u didnt grow up on hip hop, u dont know real rap, and u worship the same politically correct pseudo-intellectual spoken word garbage as these rich kids from the suburbs. we might rather hear a familiar artist spit this anti-hipster message, but understand u shittin on the wrong side. nobody is pullin these fakers cards right now. and by fakers, i mean corporate products that stand for nothing other than targeting a college market. thats all they are.

  • i think you don't get me. please believe i'm not tryin to claim the fuckin cool kids are better than jigga and rakim. i just think it's too easy for sub par rappers to go after better emcees because they think they can call them hipster (and btw, none of the rappers i meant are really "hipster rappers." tip is un-fuck-wit-able) and jsut dismiss em. but i agree with you on most other points (ghostface is my fave mc, btw, not really a pc rapper...)

  • Good thing that Asher Rotten bullshit got diss on the track

That white boi is disrespecting the game

    haha

  • LOLthis dude done pissed off one of the hipsters and now he's hatin under like 10 diffrent names (and sayin some crazy shit). mos def n common is nice, and kanye gets some respect for lyrics. and q-tip is a classic. but who the fuck u talkin about being some the best mcees ever? i fucks with new wave shit, but only cause its all over the place, and the production is insane. but please dont disrespect dudes like g rap, ra, nas, big, jay, mega, pun, etc, by dickridin the dudes in this diss record

  • kind of a dope hook tho

  • what's funny is, dude name-checks some of the best emcees ever in the game, a lot of these guys are classic. but no one will ever, ever give a fuck about the dude actually doin the name-checkin

  • the best lines are about talib, kanye, santogold, cool kids, but the shwartzenegger shot is priceless

  • Wow kid ur a hater ass nigga

  • Wow, a weak rapper dissing some of the best. That's funny.

  • hahahaha pennys out his lofers lol that made my day!

  • i agree, i always had love for q-tip, but with him catering to this new wave of hipster hop lovers, u gotta expect to be put on blast about it. ironic though, that on the mixtape, big city philadelphia raps over 'straight out the jungle' which was off the same jungle brothers album that introduced the world to q-tip.

  • that is the funniest shit this week.

    thank you for this song.

    LMBAO

  • laughing my black ass off?

  • Mos,Kweli, Common, and q-tip are all precusors to this whole new wave of "hipsters". Also the material they are now releasing is on some weird shit

  • Don't know if anyone has mentioned this but... Kweli, Common, Mos Def, and Q-Tip don't really fit the bill as "hipsters"....

  • you talkin plain garbage, like my dunks from last week.

  • LOL@ shwartzenegger + headwrap = badu

  • do the stanky leg is way hotter and harder even though they have bitch moves

  • i hate all white rappers they suck

    peace

dirty hanks black/native boy mrguy187 on all white rapper fuck yall stay off the wax stay underground cause all ur little white bitches rather fuck us niggaz ahahahhahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • GOOD SHIT MY DUDE lol

even tho the industry might TRY to call me a hipster since i be on my experimental shit, but I respect this...if i was a gangsta rapper i prolly wouldve did the same shit

  • lol @ talib line

  • Creative concept. but I don't get wut ya beef with the "hipsters"

  • ignorant song and lol @ calling Common, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli hipster

  • hehehehe thats really funny i wish i could see something like that in real life instead of just on a video.. seems like it would be better in person.

  • I never have got rap disses. Doesn't make no sense why should say how much someone else sucks if you're really that good. Hipster is definitely not what I would call alot of the people he names. I would classify more of them as "vintage" than hipster (see' how he's mostly basing this on how they dress). I feel like people don't even know what hipster means? I agree that skinny jeans on dudes just looks ridiculous. By the way, Santogold is a singer.

  • Dope.

  • this is dope

  • Why u such a hater just because u cant afford beats from the hipsters cause that track SUCKED You rhyme good but you need to call up a hipster for a track. they are the only ones smart enough to read the manual on the music software :)

  • It's the "How to Rob" beat, dumbass

  • this actually pretty funny.... hope this guido's not seriously serious though... hipster rap's the DOPENESS n everyone knows it.

  • i fuc wit hipster rap but some of dem cats need to turn down dey arrogance. cool kids my fav though.

  • One rapper i don't see going is Common. This is hot,but not a good way to come into the game right now. 50 dissed tons of commerciality,u going at the real shit, but i do like it.

  • sidebar santigold's a singer

  • so is kid cudi - this song is about robbing "hipsters" not hip-hoppers.

  • awesome....nicely done

  • Bangin

  • wack

  • This might be alright if dude wasn't a FAT ASS GUIDO.

  • hahaa good shit

  • You sound mad smh

  • just downloaded his 'big city phildelphia' mixtape. few things come to mind:

    1. he has skills. 2. about 99% of the tracks are remakes of classics. 3. the hipster track is the only one that addresses the state of music today. no other track really has a message (except one about drugs and his family done over a cnn beat).

all in all, same old content. for what it's worth i did enjoy the remake of slick rick's 'childrens story' (gangster story).

  • I can't disagree more. big city state of mind is the best track on that mixtape hands down. he KILLS it. i dont understand why they didn't put that out instead of this corny hipster shit.

  • this is classic!

  • that was fuckin FIRE

  • I see this track getting big reaaal quick

  • This might just be the dude we been waiting for to give Hip-Hop CPR...Good work Big City...Now lets see more of what you got!

  • yo this white boy is mad corney. just cuz your outdated rap is whack and nobody's feelin it, don't be hatin on people tryna make something fresh. you just mad cuz you ain't wit it. if rappin is your main hustle you goin hungry real soon.

YOU = NO TALENT, DERIVATIVE, UNORIGINAL

  • My (only)favorite 50 track flipped VERY nicely.

  • Lame RApper stop hating because u still grinding and aint making shit from your wack ass music

  • that was fresh i liked it

  • He is just mad because everyone he mentions get paid more than he does :P

  • puts hipster rap in its place - THANK YOU!

  • talib kweli the only 1 that got me cus when i copped ur album homie u robbed me lolllll

  • lol funny. watch him dap each and everyone of them. some time or another.

  • " If Andre 3000 came out today, people would call him a hipster. " - Mickey Factz

    nuff said.

Honestly most of the people throwing this hipster word around don't even really know what a hipster is.. reminds me of white kids running around sayin " that's gangsta "

  • tru say homie...

  • Haha dead funny!

  • lame as FUCK. GTFO
