Love this song. Been a Giant fan since 1962 when I was 15 years old. I think the song came out in the National league playloffs against the Pirates. Unfortunately we lost. But I could be wrong. Everytime I hear it can't wait for baseball. Also a Niner fan since I was ten in 56.
Every time I listen to this song, it brings back great memories from my childhood, and listening to Giants games with my dad, my friends and their families. At least twice a month I go back for another listen. Love my Giants. Always have and always will.
I've been a Giants fan since I was a boy and my father has been a Giants fan for 50 years. Winning the World Series was a dream come true for all of us loyal Giants fans. Although I wasn't born when this song was written by Allyn Ferguson, I remember hearing this song every time a Giant hit a homer as a kid and I still remember the words to this day. I even have this song as the ringtone on my phone. I still love hearing this song on TV or at AT&T Park after a Giant homer. Go Giants & Hum Baby!
im 13 and live in the bay are and ive been to over 50 games and i love that team and i play baseball and they have some great people their and i love this great game i was the second best pitcher and hitter in my division
Go Giants!!!!!! My grandfather, Aaron Edwards, a former KSFO newsman wrote part of this song, according to announcer Russ Hodges (who said "bye bye baby" whenever the Giants got a homerun):
@PenguinKowalski Penguin-allow me to build on your post: When Renteria gets a home run, Its bye bye baby! When Ross hits one offa Halladay, It's bye bye baby! Historys in the making at AT&T Park Cause of those homers of incredible arc! If your a fan of Giants baseball, yell bye bye baby! If you watched us win the series, scream bye bye baby! Lincicum Cain Wilson on KNBR Crank up the Krukster and you'll go far! Every time UUUUribe connects...It's bye bye baby! (Official 2010 WS Version?) :)
@PenguinKowalski Cetteferge-Yay for your dad! Beki-me too! Penguin-building on your post: When Renteria gets a home run, Its byebye baby! When Ross hits one offa Halladay, It's Bye Bye Baby! Historys in the making at AT&T Park Cause of those homers of incredible arc! If your a fan of Giants baseball, yell bye bye baby! If you watched us win the series, yell bye bye baby! @Keeper1st (You can't strictly "download" it, but rather you can make your computer record itself while playing it, which is easy enough to do -- Volume Control, Properties, Recording, select your Wave Out. It's a better-quality recording than the ones you'll find on YouTube.)
@Keeper1st You're right! My father wrote that tune for a KSFO promo spot. GET THIS! The Giant's "people" have NEVER paid a cent to my father (deceased this year). He was a wonderful man, and I cannot believe they have not compensated him in SOME way when it has become an ICON! My father, born in San Jose, loved the Giants. I am very proud that his music is associated with the team. Too bad, the "ones in charge" don't feel he was worth being paid for it! We have the original sheet music & 45rpm!
@brabon1 Hi. I appreciate your response. I know Johnny Mandel, as well. My father didn't even get paid to write the jingle, however. He submitted it because he loved to write music and it turned into the giant fight song that it is! At this point, it doesn't really matter, as you say. It is a wonderful fight song, and I'm proud of my father's work. At that point in his life, or ever really, the writing of music was what mattered...not the money.
@twoweektrial Yeah, me too since my father wrote this tune in the 60's! We have the original sheet music and 45 rpm of this tune! Too bad he was never paid by them!
When I was 6 years old back in the 60's, dad would have his cheapo AM radio listening to Russ Hodges, while working in the back yard. He would occassionally whoop a holler when some guy named Mays or McCovey went yard.
I don't live in San Jose anymore, but the theme song here hit a chord.
@cetteferge I remember that song all through the 60's and 70's. I was a Bay Area brat, San Pablo, and loved the Giants, still do. Your dad did good. Peace
@cetteferge - all honor to your Dad, this fight song is the best, and always has been- they should use it today, revamp the words, and pay your father's estate as he deserved in the first place... it would be only right...
@theedlos Thank you so much. I appreciate your words, and I love that the song has really become an iconic fight song, known & sung by so many for generations!
@cetteferge Are you serious? This is the classics of classics. My kids queue it up on the computer and play it when the Giants hit a home run when we're watching on TV. Amazing.
This brings back so many memories; I was one of the lucky 61,389 patrons to attend the last Giants game at The 'Stick, & one of my most lasting memories is the final group singing of BBB after Mays threw the Ceremonial Last Pitch with Barry behind the plate. I also recall a game in '99 (I think it may have been in August or September) honoring Willie McCovey. He tossed baseballs to the fans from a chauffeured convertible while a continuous loop of BBB played for about 5 minutes.
Memories of listening to this on the transistor radio in the early 60s with my dad! Good times

@cetteferge the song was written as a jingle for ksfo....did ksfo pay extra for any other jingles written by their staff?
i know the guys who wrote the "sounds of the city", copyrighted the tune and were allowed to sell it to other stations
and forget the money...your dad lives forever because of this song...one of the best fight songs written for any pro team
