That was as boring as boring gets. You could see it in her face. I hope nobody is putting any kind of restrictions on her on what to play. That would be shameful. The throughout the entire piece, she looked as if she was dying to cut it loose. I think the song needed it just as bad as Chelsea did.
@BabyBat0323 same thing happened to michael jackson...should never put that much pressure on a kid. I don't know how the parents are but....i't sure looks like they're trying their best to cash in on their kids talent. *shrug* may not be like that at all, i mean it's hard for parents to control their pride. I think it's better if the pride is kept inside though is all i'm saying.
It's her white side that is talented. Mostly all black child prodigies are half white like andre watts, this girl and others. blacks cannot play classical piano without one parent being white. if they do play and they are not half white, they don't play well.
When playing music your mouth and stuff goes funny ways. I dont' know if you've heard of "guitar mouth" but it's like, when you're not singing whilst playing, your face and particularly your mouth contorts in weird ways.
It's not necessarily that you're bored or anything, it's that you're putting everything into your music and if you look out of it and unemotional while playing it is often because you're actually entirely in the music and not in the normal physical self. If that makes sense.
Sorry, to elaborate it's like you're no longer in your head/face and you're actually in your chest., just below your collar bones. As such you don't really make facial expressions but might move your chin and chest out.
Music is personal. Having your gift so young can i am sure be quite difficult as everyone wants to be involved with such a talent. I hope you keep it yours and let no one use for you it. Compose because YOU want to and may music make you smile as it does for people whom you let enjoy it with you! keep it up as long as you feel it ;)

its hard beeing a child prodigy... i was and i still am.. just keep playing...and playing hours and hours a day untill you cant stand it.....love your work and thank the lord for your gift.and cry over your piano.... make it feel.. breath life into it as you breath air. give it power and love..you are and will for ever be great..no one else will understand you exept the other ones out there like you.....i hope you come join us at Juilliard.
I've seen quite a few of Chelsea's videos, and I've noticed something in each of them: She seems to lack passion. She plays in an almost bored manner. Not to say that isn't because she has practised each song so much, but it is strange for someone who plays so well to be so stiff and unaffected by the music. It makes her seem unapproachable and miserable
Sad! I don't think she's miserable or anything, it seems to be one of her passions in life (haha, obviously xD)I agree that she's a little stiff, but I think it's more that she's focused. To say she's miserable is a little harsh.
Hey, u know, I have watched a few of Chelsea's videos as well! She plays beautifully! If you were to compare her to a different individual-such as the other girl who also played in the Big and Rich concert you can see that they are "different". She's more reserved and shy, personalities differ so much, to say that she is unapproachable or miserable is not fair to say unless you have met the young lady for yourself!
Keep up the good work Chelsea! - Wish I could play so beautifully!! :)
BabyBat. I disagree with you. (sorry). Chelsea is a classical pianist. She is totally absorbed in what she is doing. If you watch most classical pianists such as Kempff, Barenboim or Rubenstein, they do not jump around and exude passion. Richter certain does, but he has a different style again. You have to listen to the sound Chelsea is producing, not look at her. The passion is certainly there in the music.
Imitating the masters in performance is easy, but it does not elevate one to their level; to compose after the masters does, but as you see: that is not quite so easy.
shes great...lol u kno wats funny its so black of her to want to be a producer and the other chick emmily bear to just be a Composer crazy...both great female pianist
Alisha was classically trained, too. Why would you say something like that? I am not her biggest fan, but at least she writes her own lyrics and composes her own musical numbers. I wish Chelsea the most luck in the world. There are so many talented people out there, and it is hard to make it in today's music industry.
That is wrong to assume. Just because you don't see everything she is doing, doesn't mean that she isn't doing anything with her talent. She still needs time to perfect her craft.
this is soooooo good!!! i love this!!! you are awesome! keep it up...cuz not that many people have the chance to be this good!! i will have this song stuck in my head all day!! =)
She never left classical. Chelsea is just a child. She she should be allowed to express herself anyway she chooses musically. Chelsea loves all genres of music. She recently performed at the CMA's in Nashville in front of about 60,00 people at the LP stadium. This event was televised on the ABC network. It was an opportunity for her to perform country music. Would you also call this genre crap?
OH my GOD!! Thats like getting Picasso to paint by numbers for you.(of course he can) or getting Pavarotti to sing a lulaby(or course he can) or just like gettin Beetohoven to play chop sticks( oh please) That must of been sooooo boring for her. Let her run please. Those finger need to MOOOOOOOVE!!!! Just my opinion. :)
I loved it!!! keep it up I wish I could work with you and sing on your stuff even though I'm all the way in Canada ! don't stop doing what you are doing >
i just came to this realisation isnt it possible that she may have outgrown her piano teacher. i mean different teachers have different technical abilities and the fact that she had him since she was 4 1/2 yrs old isnt it possible that shed be better taught with one of those elite teachers. or was it chance that she happened to run into one of them at the very beginning.
what happen to the sustain pedal?
