  • @fullthrottlektm nice! I've been on so many of these calls and it's funny how about 90% of them ( excluding elderly falls) morphine wont touch their pain... I'm glad someone took a video of this. It's always good to step back and critic a call makes a better Medic or EMT ...

  • @78forbing contraindications for aspirin is recent surgery or major bleeding you want those platlets to bind since on average you loose 1000 to 1500ml of blood in a femur fracture. I didn't watch the entire video but hypotension is a contra indication for morphine ( which he probably wasn't ).... With that being said I agree as long as vitals were stable and no allergy morphine should of been given prior to movement

  • @carbonmartian you are right CarbonMartian they didnt give him anything at all until in the hospital, and the next day he was in surgery they rammed a rod through his butt into the bone. they said it was strong enough to ride on it the day after surgery he just had to wait for the muscles to heal.

  • Same thing happened to me, It was during a football game. I was tackled and my left femur broke in 2. My leg was in the same position and they couldnt get the velcrow over my leg either. It was in very little pain. thank god

  • @RyanBloom54 its incredible how something as simple as velcro would give them such a problem and not have it replaced to work correctly.

  • no o2, no iv ,no pain meds,

  • did he really just step over the pt like tht

  • In good Pt care as a medic you always try to take the edge off before you move the patient. This also includes given a anti nausea medication.

  • @78forbing they cant give morphine legally and they wouldnt give him advil or anything because those are blood thinners and would kill him if he had any internal bleeding.

  • @FullThrottleKTM Hey guess what! I worked as a medic in California and you can give Morphine for this. Medics out there only carry baby asprin for Cardiac Pts ASA and advil are NOT blood thinners. There anti-platlet inhibitors. Im sure this Pt has a good blood pressure and then give the pt some pain meds. Poor Medicine.

  • @78forbing Maybe private ambulance companies can give morphine but our fire department only carries saline on their RA's. and he was fine, he was conscious and had no pain other than the leg (obviously). but they never gave him any medication before transport.

  • @78forbing Sorry 78Forbing you are totally right I have no clue what I was thinking actually I do, I have never had to restock morphine in an ambulance only restocking saline has been asked of me.

  • Meds aren't giving for the most part...trust me it hurts like hell stabilizing it but after the Hare traction splint is on its feels so much better. This is a good video to show EMS students.

  • @trl724 took the words right out of my mouth

  • I hope to Almighty GOD that they at least gave him a shot of MS (pain med) before they started work on him!

  • @emjee

No they didn't actually they just went straight for it! I think he might have had some Advil if he was lucky.
