you know, this is good for armenian football. this is a big learning experience. Some teams go in inexperienced and gain experience, some teams gain experience by getting treated wrongfully because of ref. this was more than handful for armenians. This is as GOOD as it gets.
even irish comentator was saying that armenia is playing incredible football even with 10 men. and the score being 2-1 and players even 10 10, with like 8 minutes to go, the comentator was freaking out, that 40-50,000 fans got quiet, because they could clearly see that armenia was the better side with a man down, and now things are even.

I have to say Armenia do have a case for a replay but it's unlikely to happen. As for the bribery theories, that reflects the mindset and the culture of Armenia and other old Soviet Republics more than the facts. Bribery is not pervasive in Ireland like it is in Russia, Armenia etc just like the way the state media control of those countries is just the norm.

It is funny to watch players confidence in their performance when the only reason Ireland won is that referee handed the win by giving red card to Armenian keeper. Unless someone is blind, one could clearly see that Cox touched the ball, then the ball hit keeper's chest. Cox should have gotten yellow card instead. Anyone having a slight understanding of a game knows that this changed everything.

It's all ifs and buts, the Henry handball was worst because we were ahead and going into penalties so it's hard to say in this case that Armenia deserved it because they hadn't done anything to phase us before that decision in the 30th minute.

I never said there should be a rematch, but was wondering why the Irish (so swift to ask one for themselves) didn't actually offer one this time. Now we have a 20 yr old goalie who started his international career on front of 50,000 fans. a game like this again will not rattle him. so is aleksanyan. Now i really feel sympathy for irish when they lost thanks to Thierry Henry's handball, or referee i should say.. They either lose by the help of ref, or they win by the help of ref. I would have preferred the game to start with armenia 1-0 down, rather than 0-0 and a player down after 28th minute. The game that armenia showed was incredible.

I have to say Armenia do have a case for a replay but it's unlikely to happen. As for the bribery theories, that reflects the mindset and the culture of Armenia and other old Soviet Republics more than the facts. Bribery is not pervasive in Ireland like it is in Russia, Armenia etc just like the way the state media control of those countries is just the norm.

That's true in some point, but not every team is Milan. And even if you try to give your best you'll bring hectic in your team. You can't deny that such a horrific wrong decision like England - Germany completely ruins the game and destroys one teams tactics.

I don't want to appear "jealous", as am Armenian National team fan, but I'm really proud of my national team, they shown fantastic football throughout the whole qualification, in my opinion, the best football among all the teams in our group, so Ireland, learn to play REAL FOOTBALL, instead of stealing victories! ;) However, I wish your team success in playoffs.

@armmarti1 We beat you last year without 'stealing' a victory.Armenia did play very well,but assuming that a first half sending off when the game was scoreless and when it was the keeper's fault for his own stupidity was the only reason you lost is unfair on Ireland.If you think this is cheating you don't watch much football I can assume.Armenia will qualify next time round if they play like they did in their last few games.But they won't if they accept unprofessionalism like the keeper's.

@DustyAndPistolPete ok, what i tried to say in my post was: the result of the last game wasn't fair, in general. I admit we did mistakes of course, but you must know our 2nd keeper was ill, so that boy is our 3rd. Gonzalez ruined the whole match, it could be one of the most beautiful matches in this qualification. Of course our team is really strong and we play beautiful football (Trapattoni prefers THE RESULT) and I'm sure the next 2 qualifications (world & euro) will be ours.

It is not fair. I am not Armenian, and not being biased I can state that obviously everything was set up before the game. The decision was to compensate Ireland for the loss in 2010. And all this was done in favor of a small nation. Shame on Ireland and cach.

This is not victory but fact that FIFA is corupted, Spanish Judge is Iddle and can sell his wife for money. How you can enjoy this... pah... he wasn't bought. this situation really looked to me like hands in the first place. only after the replay I noticed that it wasn't and that the irish player had used his hands before. don't think he messed that on purpose.
but FIFA really should introduce that video proof, so that things like these won't happen anymore!!! it still doesn't mean that armenia would have won, but at least the deserved to try in a proper game with 11 players!

Look the Ref made mistakes thro out the whole game. But the fact is, Ireland beat Armenia home and away, and having been at the game myself last night, Armenia were simply not good enough. They play a "5-a-side" brand of football which looks nice but can't grind out results. Plus the team looked nervous and completely botteled it, the OG a prime example. So Armenia, no excuses, you were not good enough. Deal with it.

It is funny to watch players confidence in their performance when the only reason Ireland won is that referee handed the win by giving red card to Armenian keeper. Unless someone is blind, one could clearly see that Cox touched the ball, then the ball hit keeper's chest. Cox should have gotten yellow card instead. Anyone having a slight understanding of a game knows that this changed everything.

@ahn51500 yeah, but we only had like 20 percent possession against Russia and they couldn't break our defence down - we have mostly average players but they work so hard and they are unbelievably organised and hard to beat because of that. It's all ifs and buts, the Henry handball was worst because we were ahead and going into penalties so it's hard to say in this case that Armenia deserved it because they hadn't done anything to phase us before that decision in the 30th minute.
