  • I have the exact same symptom on my 6 year old P42HDTV10A. Did you ever fix yours? If so, what did you do to fix it?

  • Could be in the power supply. Check the power supply first for bad capacitors, you can use a volt/ohm meter for some simple tests. You are getting half a screen type problem. And a black screen problem. Upper and lower are working on the left to some extent, so that tells you something. ZSUS would be my guess, but the power supply first and look for bad caps, and again watch the electrocution hazard.

  • Go to Scribd and download the LG and Vizio Service and Service training manuals for any Plasama tv . Phillips has a Basic Plasma Troubleshooting guide.

    TV's have lethal voltage inside (even unplugged). The capacitors retain voltage. Wear rubber gloves. Go to badcaps.net and look at pictures of bad capacitors. Solder/desolder with a cheap Pencil type soldering iron and copper braid to absorb solder. Might only be a capacitor rather than a board level repair. Find your Vizio service manual pdf
