  • EPIC!

  • look at the cat at 2:53

  • nice one mate good workmanship

  • Can it generate electric?

  • AMAZING! I WANT 1!

  • I wish we had a acrylic marble with a mobile phone camera and gyroscope inside it, then we could take a ride on that awesome coaster.

  • MY GAWD IS AMAZING!

  • This is pretty cool! Great work

  • Why does this make me so happy? XD

  • :D:D good work!

  • Lucky marbles -_-..

  • Now we just need to find Sonic The HedgeHog!

  • That's so awesome!

  • 2:50

    Pika boo kitty.

  • Anybody else see the cat? lol

  • i would have killed for this as a kid

  • I can't help but imagine this to be the soft, servile voice of a head waiter in some fine old restaurant, citing a menu of thrilling excursions the realm of human anatomy ...

  • @whynottalklikeapirat - I WAS a waiter back in the day! (But it was just a Perkins!!!)

  • @mdscms Haha thats pretty cool! I dunno - somehow the smoothness of your voice - especially at the beginning of the video seemed to beckon some quite horrific counterpoint. At least in my, admittedly, slightly twisted fantasy.

Todays choice of specialties, ladies and gentlemen is

    - Confit de retard

    - Meat oaf rustique

    - Heart of darkness

    - Suckling chick

    - Kidney surprise

    - Cannolies

....And of course the ever-popular liver with father beans and a good chianti

    Fh Fh Fh Fh FH!

  • @whynottalklikeapirat Or one of those voices on relaxtapes xD

  • Who else wants a first person view of the marbles?

  • nice, u could have made a baby human in 9 months ;)

  • @atamotua64 -done that 5 times already!! ;-)

  • @atamotua64 that takes about 5 - 30 minutes. You just have to wait 9 months for the results. In this time well you could hide from the mood swings doing stuff like this

  • I'm sure you've heard it all before, but amazing job. You should make more and try to get more publicity. You could make a lot of money from things like these.

  • @WelshBoyConnor - Thanks very much. If I can figure out how to get 48 hours out of every day, then I might have time for something like this. I'd LOVE to make another, but my hobby is now my family.

  • What then powers the screw?

  • @LOLatFAIL - There is an electric clock motor turning those hand-carved gears.

  • I'm going to go play rollercoaster tycoon now...

  • @Northcoda - We love RCT in our house too! :-)

  • @mdscms Yah, this video really reminded me of it. :)

  • Ok fine ill be that guy that says i watched this in 2012 >_<

  • That is hypnotic.

  • valla mierdaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

    es broma esta guapo

  • Wow. That is really impressive. Your kids are are lucky to have you, and judging from your other videos it looks as if you are blessed with a wonderful family. Just when I am ready to lose my faith in mankind I see a video like this one and it is restored.

  • @1pacisanimus - too kind! :-)

  • :O OMFRIKENG YOU JUST HAD TO SIT HERE AND GLUE THESE TOGETHER ONE AT A TIME!HOW CAN YOU DO THAT!

  • @sammuel117 - lots of patience. :-)

  • @mdscms no kidding

  • @mdscms THIS IS AMAZING!

    SUBBED!

And can I buy one? lol

  • I'd be tempted to sit on it

  • That is some awesome stuff! How the heck did you... Wow. Great job!

  • you should make a smll slide with a small camera to see it in first person. that would be cool. maybe have a marble attached to it like ball bearings in front and behind and don't let the slide touch the coaster because that would cause some friction

Gracias Kev!

  • @jaimehora - THANK YOU! :-)

  • anyone else see the cat in the back?hes like"whats going on?"

  • If i had to choose between an Iphone 4s and that, id pick that :D

  • That remembers me to my childhood when I constructed a rollercoaster circuit for my Mattel wheel cars :) You're an excellent fine scale modeller.

  • Stunning, truely something to be proud of.

  • @schnitzil - Thank you so much!

  • How long did it take you to plan out the blueprints for this? Or did you make as you go? It's incredible! Never mind I see the plug now haha

  • @Kinseeker - I would have to guess that it took me probably a couple days to work out the drawings for this. I always drew my roller coasters 1/2 scale first on large graph paper before I would start. Archimedes was the only roller coaster I made where I first made the start (the top) THEN the END, and THEN the MIDDLE of the coaster. Another movie is coming (soon, I hope) where you can see the progression - as I made it. I could not finish the middle until I had the motor working properly. :-)

  • How long did it take you to plan out the blueprints for this? Or did you make as you go? It's incredible! Oh and what runs the clock motor? Just a AA battery or?

  • Lol swik, I love it when things run so smoothly

  • this should be in a museum bro... imagine if your sons friend came home drunk and fell on it

  • i don't care what the teachers say. You win first prize at the school science fair This is incredible

  • To me it looked like a legit rollercoaster

  • Awesome.....i love it

  • wow that's pretty awesome, i hope to see a lot more stuff like this

  • this is sick

  • .....HOLY S***. I can't believe someone made that.

  • I'll be your friend

  • can u make me one

  • can ...can i have it??its so awesomw^^

  • This is incredible! Thumbs up

  • marbles = "Weeeeee!"

    cat = "????"

  • 2:52 HIS CAT!

  • This is really cool man.

  • Incredible

  • make 1 with jumps in!

  • Why?

  • OMG (Y)

  • very smooth nice craftsmanship

  • how much balsa did u break during this??

  • @megahawk46 - The only sticks I remember breaking were those that I was bending for the curved railings. Not too bad. :-)

  • Yes. Just yes. TAKE ALL MY YES. :I

  • To think everyone's screwing around in Minecraft when they could be making something like this... :P

  • @UberMan5000 exactly...

  • thats cool

  • How much for one of these???

  • NEED MORE MARBLES!!!!!!!!

  • I want one!

  • @mdscms How does the marbles go back up ? It's wicked !

  • This could keep a nascar fan entertained for 50 years.

  • you and jeremy lin make me proud!

  • speak up bro

  • @jackkilrich630 - the kids were all sleeping when I filmed this. :-)

  • pure genius

  • this guy is the real OG

  • Beautiful.

  • Amazing.

  • How long you made it ? I month ?

  • badass!

  • how in the world did you get the track to bend into something so smooth??

  • That coaster is older than me! O:

  • OCD

  • @RavenRof - YEP! :-)

  • @mdscms how to the marbles go up? and y u have that comment thing on?

  • @meeetallicaaaa - had to turn the comment approval thing on because of some really nasty comments coming in. Don't want my kids to see them. The marbles simply ride up the turning Dow rod. They can't fall back because of the depth of the weather stripping. This is the "Archimedes Screw" and the reason I named it Archimedes.

  • 2:51 This cat!!! :D

  • sensational bro, good work

  • I saw B&W kitty peeking! I bet it's fascinating for the kitty!

  • Brilliant! This is an amazing piece of work..the detail, wow.

  • i wanna be in that marble..

  • i wunna be a small person

  • This is super cool. Like this would oddly probably entertain me all day.

  • wow. just...... wow..... im speechless...... i cant imagine how much concentration that would take.......just painstakingly glueing one stick at a time.......amazing..... my hat is off to you. screw that, i bow to your genius sir.

  • @PyroBassFisherman - too kind. No bowing necessary. ;-) I plan on putting out a new video soon with photos of the making of each of my 5 coasters. I hope you come back to watch. :-)

  • @PyroBassFisherman your a single pro!

  • @PyroBassFisherman goodygoodiegumdrops

  • ARE YOU THE MEDIC'S BIRD? (just asking)

  • This is way cool! Amazing!

  • I'de ride it, how much per ticket? XP

  • You have to be at least this ball to ride: O

  • i will never be as cool as this thing

  • that is to cool i like that

  • o.hohohohohhohohoo nice :OO

  • this is seriously.. just pure genius.. easily one of the top things Ive seen on youtube, ill be sure to show everyone i know :D nice work mate.

  • @ribblerah - too kind. Thank you. :-)

  • @mdscms hmmm did u made it? o.O

  • Very cool! Hard work payed off :)

  • very good design

  • naughty puss 2:53

  • This is amazing. Dumb question, do they ever get stuck?

  • @novahcac - not a bad question. The marbles (1/2" steel balls) move so freely within the space that defines "the track" (which is about 3/4" wide) that they cannot get wedged against one another and thus do not get stuck. Even at the bottom where they get back on the Archimedes Screw, they sit there "taking turns" getting back up the hill. :-)

  • @mdscms go apply for a rollercoster design job cause u are very gifted

  • Dear santa....

  • Hehe this is nice, this is really nice :)

  • how much for it?

  • @beylover999 - Not for sale.... YET. :-) Thanks for your interest, however. Very flattered.

  • woooww!!!! very impressive :O. i liked it very much. but it was confusing to follow one marble when 3-4 were rolling at the same time ahah. very nice.

  • So.. much .. entertainment! :D I want one XD

  • this is so soothing.. i want one!

  • ARCHIMEDES! NOOOOO

  • i see a roller coaster designer...

  • I did this with chinese chopsticks

  • @StealaMaDrizzle89 - I'd like to see that. :-)

  • dude if you can make that make a real roller coaster because that thing lots like it will be real awsome in a there park

  • First of all this is very neat, there is something very soothing about watching this coaster in motion. Secondly I read the previous post about the dip after turn one, and sure enough the marbles do pick up a heck of a lot of speed in that dip. Anyway excellent job, and thanks for posting the video.

  • this is awesome. pure awesomeness

  • Those marbles must be having a great time.

  • 34 People only had 3 toothpicks.

  • i want that its sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • Insane. =D

  • the dip after turn 1 i think would kill a human. but a good model

  • plese tell me this thing is still in one piece :O

  • @grantpfam - great question! In fact, I moved across the country 15 years ago and the moving guy packed it up so amazingly that only two insignificant stick broke! I wish, to this day, that I could thank him. He was a pro. He was MAD, too, when he saw it b/c the pre-packing day guy forgot to tell him something this intricate was on the packing list! He built a special 3-ply cardboard crate for it and packed it wiht newspaper. Amazing.

  • @mdscms

Sounds like he was a fellow enthusiast.

  • cool!

  • this is aweosome.

  • nice ^_^

  • and that what youll have to wait for in line for about an hour ...

  • great! i could never build this myself. This is pure genius and workmanship.

  • dude your a genious

  • brillant

    :D

  • very nice i liked :)

  • I love this! Thanks for not ruining it with some "soundtrack." It is great to hear you just talking about it... If you left it running in your office, it seems that the sound and fascination of it would be a huge distraction.

  • @pogotard - Thanks! It got a lot of attention in the office. You are correct about that, but I never left it running too long. YEARS ago when someone came through my house looking to buy, they recognized it there in my closet -- having seen it years before at work! Later at the closing, they recognized me as "that guy at work with the roller coaster"!! :-)

  • @mdscms Truly AMAZING!!

  • nice job u shud get that made into a real roller coaster :D

  • oh my god i've used balsa wood in my tech ed class in school... jeez was that a pain in the butt...

  • I love how it has just enough momentum to get over the ramps, great model.

  • @jakekel666 - Thanks very much. Too kind. This was a little scary for me because THIS was the only coaster I built that I did NOT build Start-to-Finish. I was so busy getting the motor to work that when it came time to do more track, I had to skip the middle of the coaster and do the END. The day it came time to make the middle was a little nerve-racking. My kids love it. Visitors love it. It's fun to show off. Can't believe it's survived 21 years now. Thanks again!

  • judging by the sound of your voice, this is a pretty relaxing hobby. XD

  • @jaredef - Great comment! I can only tell you that all my kids were sleeping when I made this video back in 2009 and so I was intentionally speaking quite low. Turned out to be too 'creepy' to some earlier comment-ers. :-)

  • Can it be used with Hot Wheels by any chance? That would be so awesome!

  • @TheNamminamm - I agree that would be awesome, but no. Only 1/2" ball bearings (or marbles with some weight to them) can run on this track.

  • Spectacular work and great craftsmanship.

  • @bjhennessey - Thank you!

  • how the heck did giggin dance vids lead me here?

  • @NVzD3MONSDMz - I have no idea, but thanks for watching! :-)

  • send to 6 flags, get job as designer, win

  • @RJSnyper - Would LOVE to. :-)

  • wow this is AMAZING

  • medic!
