@slayerdark0 GW2 combat system is action based, which means, if your 1-2 meters away from the enemy, and your attacking, it won't do any damage. Also, in this game is real time dodging, which means, if you use a skill, and the enemy is dodging ( left or right, or backwards ), you won't do any damage. It's not like WoW or DDO, where you cast a fireball and it will follow the target like a homing missile, even if he's running in circles.
@stokic1 This game is not a traditional MMO, there is no "tank" role, the combat system in this game is mix'd between FPS and MOBA style games. Every class can damage, support, control, heal, etc. Aiming, positioning, dodging, and all this stuff is required to win a battle, it's not like: tank this boss, everyone else stay near the healer, and press the numbers from 1 to 8 to deal massive dmg, after that repeat.
@ricoberseker Oh ok but a guardian would not be able to deal s much dmg as a warrior right? because i dunno if id like to be warrior or the tank cuze in LOTRO dunno if u know it i play the hybrid class warden and id like smthg like that here to. :)
@stokic1 Every class will be helpful to deal dmg. Example: Warrior using Stomp skill: Knocks back enemys around the warrior and deals 30 dmg. Guardian using one of the hammer skills: Knocks back a single target, but deals 120 dmg. So both classes are good, but depending on the situation. If your fighting a boss, Hammer skill would be helpful, but before you get to the boss, Stomp would be helpful to kill more targets quicker. It's very similar to a MOBA game, like Dota or LoL.
@ricoberseker oh nice explenation mate! :), im only wondering now, im not really a mage person style, is the guardian very much magicall style only? cuze id prefer to play with spear/shield ow sword/shield combo or are most of his skills based on magic? :)
@stokic1 According to guild wars 2 website, the Guardian can use: Greatsword, Staff and Hammer as 2-handed weapons, and Mace, Scepter, Sword, Focus, Torch, Shield as 1-Handed Weapons. ( Main hand: Mace, Scepter, Sword. Off Hand: Torch, Shield, Focus ).
wow, this is better than waiting an our to see each skill shown individually on the main site. also, I love theses skill videos, especially the defensive ones, because it's always like:
"I could kill you any time I wanted, but I'm going to play a little before kicking your backside."
Gosh, I really have no idea what to play. First I said Ranger. Then Guardian. Then Elementalist. And now Warrior? AAARGH someone please help me out here!
(I am leaning a little towards either Ranger or Guardian, though. :))
man.. how cool would it be if like when u used shield stance it was a skill and when u activated it u had to hold the #key to keep it activated and if u held it too long ur guy would get weary and fall down. that would be so cool
so from what ive read up on so far and what i can see from your guardian and warrior class videos its sure to say that both warrior and guardian will be the most 'tank' like even though the correct word for gw2 is control so they will have the most control over mobs im assuming in a dungeon/raid scenario?
Thank you so much Ricobeserker!:) And SP was an acronym for Skill Points, and from what I understand, your weapons upgrade indtead of actually upgrading skills. For example: Your level 1 with a sword that has a move called "Great Slash" instead of giving 20 SP to great slash, the weapon upgrades on its own?:D And if the upgradeable weapons are as you say, would it be more wise to use one set of weapons, like double axes? Or to upgrade your weapons evenly?:O Like between the melee and range?!:D
@xxRamioxx As far as I know, it's intended that way, so you would use 2 weapon sets in a battle. Also, in the early demo of GW2, you had to buy the weapon skills from trainers and such, but in the latest demo, you learned the skills as you used the weapon more often. So far, I know that the weapon skills dmg can be increased with attribute points and there function can be modified with Traits. This weapon system could be changed again until it's release date, so we don't know what will get.
This is a question that I'm dying for someone to answer. Ricobeserker, you seem to know what you're talking and I was just wondering, when we all get our skills according to what weapons and class we have and such, are the skills upgradeable? And also, would you rather stay using one set of weapons, or switch all of the time, whether it's from range, to close-range, to aquatic? Lastly, if you do have to switch weapons (If we get SP at all) will we have enough SP make our skills strong?! Help!:(
@xxRamioxx In the Gamescom 2011 demo build of the game, it seems that the longer you use a weapon, the more skill you unlock for that type of weapon. Example: You start with sword, you got the very first skill, after you kill 10 enemys, the second skill is unlocked, and so on. Also, the skills are not upgradeable but rather changeable, you have hundreds of Traits, which can modify the function of you skills. Also, some profession can wield 2 weapon sets all time, and they can switch between them
@xxRamioxx When you switch your weapon sets, you get a small cooldown, but you can play with one range set and one melee set. The Aquatic weapon sets are different, you equip them automatically as soon as you dive into water. I don't understand your last question, don't know what is SP, but you can switch between 2 weapon sets in combat freely, the only downside is the cooldown ( I think you get like 30 sec cooldown or something). Also, you get attribute points, which increases your skills power
@peet2521 At the pax east panel the same question was asked, and I'm not so sure of what the answer was, but I pretty sure they said you could turn it down, which the way I understand it is that you will be able to turn down how often they say it, or turn down the sound of the voice, which of these they refer to I don't know.
@drkippawesome ah, thanks! I figured there'd be a way to toggle them on or off at least, and it isn't going to deter me from getting GW2 when it comes out :)
@ShaolinUfo This is just a demonstration about how the skills works and show off there animations, the player dosn't have any HUD to begin with, also the camera is floating all over like in a movie, the actual game will be like all RPG games, you gonna have a HUD which shows your radar, health, energy, skill bar, etc. If your interested, search for Gamescom and PAX GW2 demos on youtube, and you will see :)
@ricoberseker I like how you reply nicely and smile at the end of every comment, when someone asks for help or even insult you, you dont swear at them. Great vids anyway love them. :)
@Ritsjuhhh There's 5 playable race in GW2: Human, Norn, Asura, Sylvari and Charr. Each race has it's own rich history and background, also there unique from each other ( like the Asura are small underground creatures or the Charr, who are big cat like creatures ). Also each race has it's own racial skills, but other then that, every professions is equally strong, no matter if your a Human warrior or Asura warrior or Charr warrior, etc.
@southparkbbb We don't really know much about the PvP, but if we look at GW1, then I'm guessing it's gonna be similar, what I mean is: the Structured PvP will be very balanced and competitive (GW1 is famous for having one of the most balanced and competitive PvP system among every other MMO). Also, the reward gonna be similar to GW1 (still guessing) reward system, which is: you get points for every match and with those points you buy Armor and Weapon skins.(Also you get 1 Strongbox / 1 victory)
@southparkbbb If by PVP rewards you mean a gear advantage over other people then no. If that disappointed you, you better go find another game. If you mean any cool-LOOKING items then yes. The PVP in GW2 will be relying on skill. So yeah, only aesthetically pleasing things as a reward. OR having fun as a reward. Look at that! 2 in 1
I do wish they would add halberd to the list of weapons for warrior and guardian. Some of it's skills could be inspired by dervish scythe skills from GW1.
how is the combat like in this game is it scripted like i press something and then my character does his special move with its own animation but when my character is doing it will i be able to change direction and move freely the major question im asking is it going to be as fluid as World of Warcraft where i have the freedom do move and do what i want and how i want when i am attacking (circle strafing around enemy getting my skills off and dodging)
@AlexBlaze2 i think u can move cuz i saw a video where a thief was shooting with dual guns and running around and dodging hits at the same time.. not sure though dont take my word..
@AlexBlaze2 It's more flexible then any other MMORPG combat out there, you can even cast fireballs with elementalist while your dodge-ing left and right. Also in this game you actually need to dodge the attacks in real time, by pressing twice one of the moving keys ( A, S, D, W ), it's not like WoW or the old GW, where you activate a skill, and that gives you X% to dodge an attack. GW2 combat is more of an Action game combat.
@ColdBullet002 There's a solution for that. ArenaNet have been developing apps for smartphones, iPad, and android so that players can still interact with the game and friends online when they're out in the fantasy land known as Real Life.
And this is no joke. You can go google "Guild Wars 2 Extended Experience" for more info.
No guild wars 2 has some time before launch still i predict somewhere around november if were lucky september/october they said the main setback is properly finishing all the underwater exploration and quests dynamics.
@GForce923 Every class have their own set of skills on each weapon different from other classes with the same wep. So the Ranger has their own bow skills and the Warrior have their own skills different than the Ranger when they have a bow equipped.
And the ranger has its own specialities with the bow while the Warrior also has its own specialties with one.
@disturbed1990 they do, But what armor you want ? The Charr in the video has a very cool high level armor. The armor style in Guild Wars focuses on "realistic" armor, not like in World of Warcraft or Runes of Magic, where your armor burns in flames, it's got lights and led's all over it, and so on.
@disturbed1990 They dont want to show you best armors at start this is videos downloaded from Guild Wars 2 site they are there for loooong time who know what else they made by now.
@disturbed1990 and if you want some pretty stylized armor from the start, you better get GW1 + EotN and get some achievements in the Hall of Monuments.
@disturbed1990 In case you didn't get an answer yet, i've been viewing some GW2 videos and the creators said that every single piece of armor and dye that you achieved on your GW2 character, you will be able to change it to your own liking. Including the dyes, you may dye it whenever and to whatever you wish at any time for free. So you may change armor and dyes whenever you want to whatever you want for free.
@daddy209lodi GW2 has WvWvW and Structured PvP. Structured PvP are the same as the PvP fights in Guild Wars 1, which means, it's arena based, very balanced, etc. In other hand, there's the WvWvW ( World vs World vs World, other name for this is: "The Mist" battles ), which are a large Battlefield areas, play'd in the Mists, where you can capture Fortresses, castles, mines, caravans, etc. Plus you can log in and log out in any time. If 1 server win the Mists battles, it gains some bonuses.
@nosaintiger12 The warriors in GW2 can only use Rifle's, but not pistols. The only profession so far which can use pistols ( or dual wield pistols ) is the newly announced Thief profession ( it was presented at GDC this year, the presentation for that profession will follow on gw2.com soon )
part of me wants to be a human warrior to stay faithfull to my original warrior, while another part of me wants to be a charr warrior to......welll you know.....be a freaking badass charr.
Does anyone know how many character slots there will be?
OK! do the characters in this game actually make these kinds of comments? if they do, im buying it just for that. would make combat 10 times more fun XD
The 5th profession, the Guardian, is being revealed Thursday January 27th. Confirmed by Arenanet community manager Regina Buenaobra.
Glad you’re excited. :-) We’re excited as well. No need to kill your F5 keys over the weekend. We will have a full reveal of the guardian, along with all the goodies (pics, videos), next Thursday. :-) -Regina
Copy this comment, or simply spread the word to every Guild Wars 2 video on youtube. Let everyone know the next profession is coming!
got a question.. im one that never played guild wars... hows the pvp in it? is there factions? The game looks good but i hope its not a grind fest like aion turned out to be,
@lavamanbearpig Actually Guild Wars 1 is the only MMO without grind at all ( sure... there are many titles, but you don't need them to be good as others, all depends on your skills ). The Pvp part is very well done, and compared to other MMO's, it's has the most balanced PVP system. GW 1 also got factions battles, called Alliance Battles ( but the difference between GW and other MMO is that in this game you can change your faction anytime, so that you can play with your friends )
@lavamanbearpig lol the name is guild wars, guild - factions. And they said that you shold be able to play the hole game (tills lvl 80) without grind ...
You guys should go too the site and read about this game, its really fasinating, unlike anything ive ever seen, it totally breaks the chain of traditional mmo's in a good way of course.
is Arcing Shot really a warriors skill? I mean, it looks more like a ranger's skill then anything else since warrior types, in practically all games, are close combat up in your face meat shields not long range(unless a warrior/ranger). That the only thing that looks wrong in these 5 skills. The others are awesome
@deckire In GuildWars 2, every weapon has there own skills, main hand weps have 3 skills, two handed weps got 5 skills, and off hand weps got 2 skills. Warrior has that bow attack skill because the warrior can also use longbows ( but only longbows, not short bows ). And it's the same with other professions, every profession can use multiple weapons, example Necromancer can use daggers for medium range casting spells, or the ranger can use swords for hit-and-run tactic.
@Blackwater200 If you actually referring to GW2 about monthly fees... NO ! GW2 is B2P, you buy the game and play it forever. Also, this vids are only for demonstration, the skills output dmg are modified, plus the characters are high level and are fighting against low level mobs. In the actual game, the skills are weak, and you need tactic to defeat the mobs. I hope this cleared some things :)
@ricoberseker i do believe he was saying why would u play games like wow and warhammer when they screw u over........ AND u have to pay $15 to get screwed over.... hence GW2 > All Others
@tzydpro Yes and No. By Yes, I mean that GW2 has instances, but they are used only for Personal Story telling, Like Missions in GW1. By No, I mean that the rest of GW2 is persistent just like any other MMO, where you can meet people in towns or outside towns. ( If you asking how much of the world is instanced, ... sorry, don't know the right answer, but don't worry, because Personal Story telling missions are scattered around the world, so it's probably around 15% of the world )
@beagleboy547 Stomp is used by Monsters in GW1, and it only does Knockdown. It will be the same in GW2, maybe it does dmg as well ( because in the video the monsters had died ), it won't have agro remover, so it's safe for front liners to use it :)
@ricoberseker Stomp actually also did some damage but not enough to be considered useful for tanks. it provided useful for turais story only because it stopped palwai joko from casting.
i dont really believe this is ingame "footage" ..the arching shot and stomp have a high cool down and those monsters dont die in a single shot like that..it might be what actual skills look like ingame but its definitely NOT a "footage"
@bhimz2 They using High level chars in low level areas, plus they modified the dmg, recharge, etc. too look more "cinematic". But the actual animations is the same in-game ( but the skills have much reduced dmg, recharge, etc. )
All the classes are awesome. I think when I get the game I will have trouble deciding which class to make first, because they're all awesome! But.. I think I will go with my favorite one... WARRIOR!
@KuroiiTenshii Yeah, thats the problem with me too... in this game every class looks really awesome, plus the races too... it's really hard to choose :S
@KuroiiTenshii I think that when the game launches I'll make one character of every class, constantly log in and out on every one of them until I pass out and fall into a very unhealthy state of mind because there's just too much epic awesomeness for a man to handle!!
By the way, these in-game videos look so good that at times I almost mistake them for cinematics... freakin' sweet! =)
@DJXaGe These are only the first 5 skills revealed by ArenaNet on there official website, just for demo purpose, in the final release there will be more skills.
@DJXaGe So, in GW2 the skill bar has 10 skill slots ( in GW1 had only 8 ), in which the first 5 skills slots are "weapon skills" and can't be changed in any way ( only if you equip other weapon types ), and the remaining 5 skills are Utility skills, Healing skills and Elite skills, these 5 skill slots can be customized as you'd like ( just like in GW1 ). But also, GW2 has so called Trait system. With this system you can alter skill functions, so in the end, the skill customization is really huge
@DJXaGe The first 5 skills are given to you dependant on your current weapon set equipped, so say I had a horn and sword equipped i'd get skills for both, totalling 5 skills, 2 skills for the offhand i beleive. 5 skills if you weild one weapon

@ricoberseker any idea how the movement works? I prefer moving with a keyboard. Up to go forward, down to walk back, left and right to turn, etc. I know a lot of games are click to move or left and right click to move forward.
I just like having the option to change my movement to what is most comfortable for me. Clicking a minimap to move can really turn a game from amazing, to just annoying.
@PoppycockGaming GuildWars 2 will not have click to move feature, at least not at release ( It was confirmed by a interview ), so you gonna use WSAD to move around. Also in GW2, you can dodge left ( by hitting twice the A button ), dodge right ( hitting twice the D button ) and also roll backwards by hitting twice the S button. It's more like playing an action game, rather then a classic MMO game.
The graphics are astounding, it gives off this wonderful vibrant colorful world that feels unique and real in a way. The weather system is interesting and i can tell their gonna add some vegetation effects like the wind will be blowing south so the trees will be blowing in that direction. You can cross-profession which is awesome. The world is vast and huge, like it really took me a while to get from one area to next without using map jump.
@superkismo i will tell you this from my personal experience of playing this demo on PAX, this game really doesn't feel like WoW at all, and me i use to play WoW for 5 years and gave up cause it's just not the same how it was in vanilla. GW 2 on the other hand has soo much to offer, you can dodge roll, you can cast magic or use melee attack on the fly even if theirs no target around. You can heal yourself a lil bit or max out by holding the hot key that is assigned to.
@superkismo NO. I see Guild Wars 2 with a bit of WoW. I hate how things are put up against wow, It is not a great game, Extremely repetitive, not fun until you reach the higher lvls, and the amount of money put into a digital character, is just not right. For GW2, sequences are much different, very little to none, of the *run to this person get quest run off finish quest comeback.* You could be out doing some small errands for a farmer when his crops come under attack. Fend em off Get EXP, LVL
@superkismo This happens at all levels from lvl 1 to lvl 80 the games is full of action non stop, you dont have to look for quests, you dont have to party up for EXP. If you help kill something based on how long you participated, how much damage u did how much you healed, you earn EXP and reputation. If there is nothing much happening see if a village, checkpoint or, fort is under enemy control. Go retake it by yourself or with a few other players. The game is in motion 24/7. This is an MMORPG
Vendetta is doing early guild recruitment. We're looking for dedicated PvPers that want to reach all end game content within days of release to begin constant arena/open battle fighting. Check our site out for more info and to apply, joinvendetta. com
Everyone has their own opinion. Mine is simply that Blizzard > All because of their way of making games not only based on good graphics but also GREAT, FANTASTIC and BREATH TAKING gameplay.
@TimmyTubularr Yes, but they only do high dmg, still the rangers are far better with bows then other professions, because they can even move while firing bows.
do my character go to the enemy and use the skills? or do I have to get close and use them like DDO or even WoW?

Each race has it's own rich history and background, also there unique from each other ( like the Asura are small underground creatures or the Charr, who are big cat like creatures ). Also each race has it's own racial skills, but other then that, every professions is equally strong, no matter if your a Human warrior or Asura warrior or Charr warrior, etc.

is the pvp in this game descent? i know theres the wvwvw and structured games but are there any rewards for pvping like there is in wow?
southparkbbb 6 months ago
@southparkbbb We don't really know much about the PvP, but if we look at GW1, then I'm guessing it's gonna be similar, what I mean is: the Structured PvP will be very balanced and competitive (GW1 is famous for having one of the most balanced and competitive PvP system among every other MMO). Also, the reward gonna be similar to GW1 (still guessing) reward system, which is: you get points for every match and with those points you buy Armor and Weapon skins.(Also you get 1 Strongbox / 1 victory)
ricoberseker 6 months ago
@southparkbbb If by PVP rewards you mean a gear advantage over other people then no. If that disappointed you, you better go find another game. If you mean any cool-LOOKING items then yes. The PVP in GW2 will be relying on skill. So yeah, only aesthetically pleasing things as a reward. OR having fun as a reward. Look at that! 2 in 1

how is the combat like in this game is it scripted like i press something and then my character does his special move with its own animation but when my character is doing it will i be able to change direction and move freely the major question im asking is it going to be as fluid as World of Warcraft where i have the freedom do move and do what i want and how i want when i am attacking (circle strafing around enemy getting my skills off and dodging)
AlexBlaze2 7 months ago
@AlexBlaze2 i think u can move cuz i saw a video where a thief was shooting with dual guns and running around and dodging hits at the same time.. not sure though dont take my word..
mcdudly00 7 months ago
@AlexBlaze2 It's more flexible then any other MMORPG combat out there, you can even cast fireballs with elementalist while your dodge-ing left and right. Also in this game you actually need to dodge the attacks in real time, by pressing twice one of the moving keys ( A, S, D, W ), it's not like WoW or the old GW, where you activate a skill, and that gives you X% to dodge an attack. GW2 combat is more of an Action game combat.

And this is no joke. You can go google "Guild Wars 2 Extended Experience" for more info.

Do characters change their appearence....i mean they are high lvl in this video, they should have some cool armors on them :P
disturbed1990 10 months ago
@disturbed1990 they do, But what armor you want ? The Charr in the video has a very cool high level armor. The armor style in Guild Wars focuses on "realistic" armor, not like in World of Warcraft or Runes of Magic, where your armor burns in flames, it's got lights and led's all over it, and so on.
ricoberseker 10 months ago 23
@disturbed1990 Dont complain, Rift has even more realistic to the point that your high level cloth looks like a bath robe.
FacerollCinema 9 months ago
@disturbed1990 They dont want to show you best armors at start this is videos downloaded from Guild Wars 2 site they are there for loooong time who know what else they made by now.

@disturbed1990 cool armor? I bet you are talking about those drag-queen-like-wow-armor...
alvesrocha 9 months ago
@disturbed1990 and if you want some pretty stylized armor from the start, you better get GW1 + EotN and get some achievements in the Hall of Monuments.
FullThrottle1091 6 months ago
@disturbed1990 In case you didn't get an answer yet, i've been viewing some GW2 videos and the creators said that every single piece of armor and dye that you achieved on your GW2 character, you will be able to change it to your own liking. Including the dyes, you may dye it whenever and to whatever you wish at any time for free. So you may change armor and dyes whenever you want to whatever you want for free.

hows the pvp system work in this game is it only arena fights?
daddy209lodi 10 months ago
@daddy209lodi GW2 has WvWvW and Structured PvP. Structured PvP are the same as the PvP fights in Guild Wars 1, which means, it's arena based, very balanced, etc. In other hand, there's the WvWvW ( World vs World vs World, other name for this is: "The Mist" battles ), which are a large Battlefield areas, play'd in the Mists, where you can capture Fortresses, castles, mines, caravans, etc. Plus you can log in and log out in any time. If 1 server win the Mists battles, it gains some bonuses.

got a question.. im one that never played guild wars... hows the pvp in it? is there factions? The game looks good but i hope its not a grind fest like aion turned out to be,
lavamanbearpig 1 year ago
@lavamanbearpig Actually Guild Wars 1 is the only MMO without grind at all ( sure... there are many titles, but you don't need them to be good as others, all depends on your skills ). The Pvp part is very well done, and compared to other MMO's, it's has the most balanced PVP system. GW 1 also got factions battles, called Alliance Battles ( but the difference between GW and other MMO is that in this game you can change your faction anytime, so that you can play with your friends )
ricoberseker 1 year ago
@lavamanbearpig lol the name is guild wars, guild - factions. And they said that you shold be able to play the hole game (tills lvl 80) without grind ...

is Arcing Shot really a warriors skill? I mean, it looks more like a ranger's skill then anything else since warrior types, in practically all games, are close combat up in your face meat shields not long range(unless a warrior/ranger). That the only thing that looks wrong in these 5 skills. The others are awesome
deckire 1 year ago
@deckire In GuildWars 2, every weapon has there own skills, main hand weps have 3 skills, two handed weps got 5 skills, and off hand weps got 2 skills. Warrior has that bow attack skill because the warrior can also use longbows ( but only longbows, not short bows ). And it's the same with other professions, every profession can use multiple weapons, example Necromancer can use daggers for medium range casting spells, or the ranger can use swords for hit-and-run tactic.
ricoberseker 1 year ago
Why pay $14.95 a month, just to have games like Warhammer Online and WoW nerfs your class and makes them weak and soft like silly putty.
Blackwater200 1 year ago
@Blackwater200 If you actually referring to GW2 about monthly fees... NO ! GW2 is B2P, you buy the game and play it forever. Also, this vids are only for demonstration, the skills output dmg are modified, plus the characters are high level and are fighting against low level mobs. In the actual game, the skills are weak, and you need tactic to defeat the mobs. I hope this cleared some things :)
ricoberseker 1 year ago 10
@ricoberseker i do believe he was saying why would u play games like wow and warhammer when they screw u over........ AND u have to pay $15 to get screwed over.... hence GW2 > All Others

In GW2 the world is not instanced??
tzydpro 1 year ago
@tzydpro Yes and No. By Yes, I mean that GW2 has instances, but they are used only for Personal Story telling, Like Missions in GW1. By No, I mean that the rest of GW2 is persistent just like any other MMO, where you can meet people in towns or outside towns. ( If you asking how much of the world is instanced, ... sorry, don't know the right answer, but don't worry, because Personal Story telling missions are scattered around the world, so it's probably around 15% of the world )
ricoberseker 1 year ago
I can already see it, retarded tanks using stomp and losing agro
beagleboy547 1 year ago
@beagleboy547 Stomp is used by Monsters in GW1, and it only does Knockdown. It will be the same in GW2, maybe it does dmg as well ( because in the video the monsters had died ), it won't have agro remover, so it's safe for front liners to use it :)
ricoberseker 1 year ago
@ricoberseker Because you would totally know if it had agro remover and ti would be safe, just in case this is sarcasm.
beagleboy547 1 year ago
@ricoberseker Stomp actually also did some damage but not enough to be considered useful for tanks. it provided useful for turais story only because it stopped palwai joko from casting.

Lemme ask a stupid question: Are these the only skills or are there more of them?
DJXaGe 1 year ago
@DJXaGe These are only the first 5 skills revealed by ArenaNet on there official website, just for demo purpose, in the final release there will be more skills.
ricoberseker 1 year ago
@ricoberseker I read from the Guild Wars 2 homepage, that you can't decide the first 5 skills of the skill bar yourself, is this true?
DJXaGe 1 year ago
@DJXaGe So, in GW2 the skill bar has 10 skill slots ( in GW1 had only 8 ), in which the first 5 skills slots are "weapon skills" and can't be changed in any way ( only if you equip other weapon types ), and the remaining 5 skills are Utility skills, Healing skills and Elite skills, these 5 skill slots can be customized as you'd like ( just like in GW1 ). But also, GW2 has so called Trait system. With this system you can alter skill functions, so in the end, the skill customization is really huge
ricoberseker 1 year ago
@DJXaGe The first 5 skills are given to you dependant on your current weapon set equipped, so say I had a horn and sword equipped i'd get skills for both, totalling 5 skills, 2 skills for the offhand i beleive. 5 skills if you weild one weapon
KentGamers 1 year ago
@DJXaGe
well the first 5 skills are determined by the weapon we choose. but there is a lot of weapon types to choose from and we are able to swap weapons.

PoppycockGaming 1 year ago

The world is vast and huge, like it really took me a while to get from one area to next without using map jump.
wildrmz00 1 year ago
@superkismo i will tell you this from my personal experience of playing this demo on PAX, this game really doesn't feel like WoW at all, and me i use to play WoW for 5 years and gave up cause it's just not the same how it was in vanilla. GW 2 on the other hand has soo much to offer, you can dodge roll, you can cast magic or use melee attack on the fly even if theirs no target around. You can heal yourself a lil bit or max out by holding the hot key that is assigned to.
wildrmz00 1 year ago

superkismo 1 year ago
@superkismo NO. I see Guild Wars 2 with a bit of WoW. I hate how things are put up against wow, It is not a great game, Extremely repetitive, not fun until you reach the higher lvls, and the amount of money put into a digital character, is just not right. For GW2, sequences are much different, very little to none, of the *run to this person get quest run off finish quest comeback.* You could be out doing some small errands for a farmer when his crops come under attack. Fend em off Get EXP, LVL
pipinhot2 1 year ago
@superkismo This happens at all levels from lvl 1 to lvl 80 the games is full of action non stop, you dont have to look for quests, you dont have to party up for EXP. If you help kill something based on how long you participated, how much damage u did how much you healed, you earn EXP and reputation. If there is nothing much happening see if a village, checkpoint or, fort is under enemy control. Go retake it by yourself or with a few other players. The game is in motion 24/7. This is an MMORPG
