I got pretty emotional watching one of the greatest point guards in history hang up the sneakers...my dad mostly, he was a huge stockton fan. He still is.
I'm not gonna lie, If I got teary eyed when I saw this, I will lose it when Nash retires
@nobodysperfect06 What about 1994 and 1995, when Jordan wasn't in the NBA Finals?
I know where you're coming from, but Stockton and Malone ultimately weren't the transcendent players of their era. They possessed plenty of chances and came up short, although at least they didn't cheat their opportunities like Charles Barkley.
@ChandlerPol Basketball is a team game. They simply didn't possess the players around them at the time to win it all in 1994-95. I believe the 1998 Jazz team would have won against 90% of all the Championship teams before or since. Michael Jordan literally won that series for the Bulls. Who else could have played through stomach flu in the 5th game to score 30+ points. In the final game he stole the ball from Malone on the Jazz's last offensive play and hit the winning shot.
@trehansen Stomach flu game was in 1997, so you are confusing two different Finals series. But you are right about 1998: Jazz were the better team, but MJ just demolished the Jazz in Game 6. If ever you can say one guy beat a team by himself, that is one of those games.
He could have played another 4 or 5 years at a high level. That's how fit Stockton was. Reports are he's still schooling all the Gonzaga kids when he scrimages with them.
Stockton - what a class act. One of the last to play the game with loyalty and passion. Could have left Utah any number of times for a big paycheck, but believed in the organization and the team and stayed "home," as it were. Wish we had another one like you.
Lmao the tear came to my eye when I saw John's face when he went to the bench. And I wanted to add that his successor is Steve Nash I suppose, but thats only my opinion :p
Its hard to watch these Last Game postings; finale of the greatest point guard/power forward duo in NBA history, the numbers don't lie. Nash and Amarie were pretty cool too, though.
John & Karl unbelievable tandem on and off the court. Your memories will certainly live and your contributions to the league firmly fixed for new generations to remember and emulate.
@BASKETBALLJEZUS nah. jordan pippen played as separate players more than they did as a team. in terms of teamwork, the best duo has to be stockton and malone.
@gmwphnehn yeah maybe you are right stocton as shooter cus on my x box if i play with the old jazz team i try 2 get the ball 2 stocton if i neat a 3 pointer or else 2 byron russel and malone is good 4 defensife rebounds and blocks then i try 2 controle malone ;)
@gmwphnehn yeah you are right sotcton was a great shooter on my x box if i play with the old jazz team i allways let stocton hornacek or russel and 4 def rebounds and blocks i use malone but 4 shots i prefer stocton above that 2 other guys
Stock & Mailman!!Yes you are the dynamic duo, that was great to see standing ovation in arco for a long time opponents. Thanks for memories John and Karl

the best duo to not get a ring, it's ashame they did not, playing in the Michael Jordan era did not help at all

Im coming from Reggie Millers last game and based on that its a damn shame that Stockton and Malone played their last game away and not In Utah.

@Lorenshyne ... well, then they should have won this game to force another home game.
