Hi Bobby - The Beach Boys were excellent musicians and it was their record contract that really screwed them. It stopped them from playing the music they wanted to play because the big corp bosses hammered them every time they dared to step out of the box. It was the same for The Monkeys.

Thanks Bobby this video sent me on a musical journey. I started listening to the recommended songs while reading about the band and the individual members on Wikipedia. I then read about there influence and ended up taking several hours listening to Beach boys which lead me to Gershwin, to the mamas and the papas, to Simon and Garfunkel, to Debussy I must say we are lucky to share the common bond of such great music.

ya, I too enjoy a Beach Boys marathon once in a while (even with all the controversy), but on a side note you should do a lesson on a song by In Flames, I'm sure you'll (and the others) find that that the harmonies with the rhythm and lead are fun to listen/play to. Schehf has tons of cover(s) without the vocals so you can hear the guitars better, if you don't care for Anders' scream/growl voice

I thought I was the only one that felt this way about the Beach Boys. I have the 4 disc version of the anniversary version of Pets Sounds which separates the track. Brian Wilson is the Bach of Rock. My favorite song is Don't Worry Baby. You should do an acoustic version of God only Knows with one other guitarist.

The Beatles were heavily influenced by the Beach Boys. They were blown away by Pet Sounds and even a little depressed by the album because it was so good they felt like they couldn't match it. It really started the Beatles on the road to all the experimental musical things they tried the last few years of the band.
