@QuakePhil The SRM power meter doesn't really measure how much power the rider is putting out, but rather how much power is being produced at the rear wheel. There is a good bit of mechanical advantage involved via the crankarms and drivetrain, but essentially yes, he is putting out about 2hp max to the rear wheel.
@GREALDO21 It's not about the bike. Every bike that you pay that much for is going to be more or less the same. This brand loyalty bullshit is annoying.
Meutzi......I've been tested at Kent Uni in the Uk. I produced 1193 watts for 8 sec and ave 250 watts on my VO2 Max test. I'm only an amateur mtb rider. So, believe me when i say that data is very credible for a pro rider at the very top of his game.
@Keyobardbeatz, 6500kJ registered at the pedal, but human body efficiency is ~24% and J to calories conversion is 4.2, so that those factors nearly cancels out and you are left with ~6500 kcal consumed.
Yesterday I put out 1450 Watts at the end of an endurance training ride for a few seconds, so believe me: this numbers are correct, he could do even more! What´s really impressive: 285 Watts @ 143 bpm, this is fucking amazing, with this average heartrate I hardly reach 200 Watts:(
@ChrisRebmann "What´s really impressive: 285 Watts @ 143 bpm" Yep for 6 hours lol......I wonder what his food intakes! I get that average watts at 160+bpm using garmin 800 & powertap slc, cheaper than SRM system but it works the same :)
how can these guys ride that hard for that long! I don't know that I'll ever ride for 6+ hours in my life, and if I ever tried I'd probably be ready to fall over near the end.
@daFranch1se69 It seems those bike exist, and if you look at when he broke away, it looks quite weird... he seemed to suddenly take it cool while accelerating and dropping everybody! The videos of the acceleration are quite easy to find here, just type "Cancellara doped bike".
@mattsnow81 "when he broke away, it looks quite weird" - didn't look weird to me, or anyone else I race with. He's powerful enough to accelerate while remaining in the saddle - quite good for stealth attacks. No-one expected him to go that early, that's why it seemed so dramatic. You won't see that happen again because everyone will do anything they can to get on his wheel, even if there is 40 miles to go...
If one horsepower = ~750 watts, what the hell does this mean? 2 horsepower max?
QuakePhil 1 month ago
@QuakePhil Yeah he is putting out almost 2hp at his max power.

1450 Watts max! And that wasn't sprinting (he didn't need to). Just TRY to put out 1450 Watts, and see what happens. Sheesh, what an animal.

@glozick The crankset kit includes the basic monitor I think. Not much consolation considering the whole package is $3K. Amateurs use powertaps.
JTMarlin8 11 months ago
@glozick the computer isnt expensiv, its just the power meters in the pedal that costs more than 2000$
