Im guessing you went onto Vang Viang then to Vientiane? did you cross back into thailand on the Vientiane border crossing? sorry for all the questions just planning my trip for the end of February.
@elliottk16 Make sure the WHOLE of the stamp is on the passport page. In her case, some of it was on the page but the majority of the stamp was on the visa waiver stapled to the passport page. Consequently, when they rip out the waiver, there's no record of her even being in the country and they kick up a fuss...

how do you prevent them stamping your passport in the wrong place? Where should they stamp it? Cheers
