  • Lovely guy. Nice work. End of

  • 4:48 Kirk looks like his getting a fantastic blow job.

  • who cut his hair

  • never forget that suit or the laugh as he sits down........wonderful

  • Canadian snooker was never better back then.Cliff the year before and then Kirk hard to believe Canada had two boys over there spanking the Limeys at their own game.

  • In 1984 he got 10,000 pounds for doing that no wonder he's happy , he was a great player and dressed great as well he was a head of his time but he also liked to party to much. always a fan of Kirks .

  • My favourite of the 147s, I think. Green to brown was a great shot, and what about pink to black where he was stretching over the table, absolutely fantastic. Pure class. One of the best ever matches too. Glad to hear he's still at it....

  • I used to see Kirk Stevens hustle guys at Time's Square Billiards, at Yonge/Dundas, in DT Toronto back in the mid 70's. If you left one cherry open, he'd clean the table. He was one of the best pure shooters ever.

  • The only 147 ever made at the Wembley Conference Centre

  • notice that he isn't inch perfect on any of the shots? nowadays any of these shots would have become potensially end of break shots..was the table dimension the same in those days as it is today? if you check out the 147 video from steve davis you will see that the last pink is absolutelly horrific..but he makes it with ease...

  • you cant even spell the queens english jam you ignorant moron, ive met kirk n even had a drink with him at preston guildhall when the uk was there hes a top guy always had time for his fans and a credit to the game, not like the boring zero personality robots of todays game

  • MA MAT SEES THOT KARK WAS AH JANKAY

  • He was a coke head yeah...so? He was also one of the most naturally talented players getting around and by all accounts, a lovely bloke.

  • Very interesting video. It seems that snooker tables used in tournaments those days were smaller. Also Kirk's snooker cue looks like a Sneaky Pete pool cue, with a shorter and retapered shaft.

  • In that case, 12 foot tables must have increased with inflation over the intervening 20 years; however, in real terms, 12 foot in the 1980's had more value than today.

  • No I think its just the angle its filmed at is slightly different it is the same size.

  • @hhk213 No, tables were always the same size. If the table and pocket dimensions aren't the sanctioned size, the 147 does not count - just as John Spencer found out

  • wonder if hes still got all that hair !!

  • bet he bought alot of white powder with the money from the 147, proper days, there all hendry clones now. should be made to drink beer when they play, that would fuck up ebdon & murphy!!!

  • definitely historical scene.

    Kirk looks like movie star.

  • fantastic outfit!

  • Kirk looks like a nice guy. Tom cruise if he had been a snooker player lol

  • dowling n burke ur both ignorant cluless spunk bubbles who know nothing about snooker its kirk not kirklyn u fucking prick

  • oh and if any of you are juding the pockets smaller on this video because of how they look, then you are stupid. That is the camera angle.

  • Haha it's hilarious at 1:55 when someone says "Come on, Jimmy!" and the crowd gets mad.

  • Great to hear hes still around

  • Just played Kirk today in the IBSF world championships and he is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet.

He still plays very well and still uses the same cue that he used in this video

  • No shit, that's awesome. How did you fare? Good to hear that he's a nice bloke. Same cue too? He must really love it.

  • I lost, but he played well, so I don´t really mind^^ I really enjoyed the Match.

  • @saccrac and he's still a junkie!

  • @saccrac Does he also still dress like an ice cream man?

  • Kirk is still playing in canada and he won the canadian championship last week in Toronto. He is off to Austria to compete for the world's ISBF snooker championship in October.

  • Do you have a recent picture of him?

  • Do you want it to whack off to?

  • stfu nigger

  • hehe, chill. Can't post a link but try scottishsnooker and check out the gallery.

  • Remember when a 147 was a major event? This is regarded as one of the best sessions of snooker ever played - imagine O'Sullivan vs well, O'Sullivan these days. Some of the shots he played on the colours were amazing under the circumstances. Pity he put most of his winnings up his nose!

  • Ah sry gotta withdraw my question sry !! :D Mixed this video up with another hmph sry!

  • Is this the same match where White did also 147???

  • kirk stevens was a legend and as a big snooker fan this is the hardest 147 ive seen, where is kirk now !

  • he's retired now.

  • Is he retired? I thought he was still competing in Canada. He was my favourite player. I may be a bit biased but I think this is the best 147. That shot on the green is incomparable. And his reaction, not only at the end of the break, but when his mate Jimmy knocked in that match-winning century. I could watch this match a million times. Great snooker.

  • is he? Cant be as good as tis still though. i think ronnies 147 against price in 5:20 minutes was good. and the one he made recently in the world championships (i support jimmy white not ronnie before you ask)

  • I heard he had a 143 quite recently. I was gonna say impressive for a 50 year old but hey, it's just impressive. A VERY talented player and one of my favourites too (along with Jimmy, Alex and Mark Williams)

  • Without seeing the full break I don't know, but judging by the colours it looked like such a hard 147, and he took them brilliantly. Jack Karnhem is such a great commentator too. Far better than the likes of Everton and JV.

  • Yes, Karnehm is definitely one of the best commentators, alongside Ted Lowe.

  • It's not possible that you are 48 years old.

  • Can some one tell me who's doing the commentary?

  • You bet, the softly spoken gent is the great Jack Karnheim, he was my favourite commentator throughout the 80's. The other is Rex Williams.

  • Thanks alot

You know what I thought it was Jack Karnheim

    LOL

    It's a good 147 this

  • Sure is and I spelt his name wrong sorry, it's Karnehm and he sadly passed away in 2002, aged 85. But he will live on forever as one of the best commentators of the sport ever IMO. He loved Jimmy White and never hid the awe in his voice at some of the shots Jimmy pulled out.

  • What the fuck ??? George Michael played snooker ?

  • Hahahahaahahahahahahaha

  • everything was beter about snooker back then, pure entertainment, thats why the game struggles for sponsors now, they were queuing up to sponsor the games back then, but people watched it . who wants to watch it now, yawn yawn yawn, and as for the afore mentioned O sullivan, at least back then the players wanted to win, and if they didnt, they accepted it and didnt cry about it,

  • times move on. We aren't in the 80's now and this isn't pure entertainment. It is slow as fuck.

  • DLP - Do you enjoy Kirklyn Stevens?

  • I enjoyed this break :)

  • but I think compared to today, it is much less talented. Plodding....

  • That is a good point. Do you think that Kirklyn Stevens needs to be aware that it may soon be time for the nettles to sting?

  • Hi buddy, wanna be my friend?

  • The entire break took under 13 minutes, hardly slow! 34sec shot average for the 3rd televised maximum in the history of the game. He slowed towards the end, naturally, but Kirk was a fluent and exciting player to watch.

  • I agree. I was just generalising, esp on the era of the grinder

  • Great shot on the green for the brown. Screw with a bit of left hand side i think. Not really a high power shot i believe as the fine contact angle wld translate into quite a fair bit of pace for the cue ball with a moderate strength shot. above normal strength still needed tho.

But Jimmy's deep screw with check side on the pink for the black on his winning frame was even more flashy.

  • Why wouldn't you be, 3rd televised maximum in the history of the game, I'd be pretty chuffed too.

  • who was askin for a cornet? 00:57

  • ronnie o'sullivan

  • Sounds like Willie.

  • I used to love Kirk's during my teenage days but then he sadly got involved with drugs and faded away.Could have been a great player had he shown more dedication and dicipline. What a waste....

  • It was a shame, good enough to be world champ. Still knocking in centuries in Canada though and current Canadian champ at 50. He's still got it.

  • It's actually snooker, not pool. Go and watch videos of orangutans urinating in their own mouths if you aren't interested in this.

  • amazing green to brown!.well done kirk.

  • i love the style of the table

  • I was lucky enough to have been there to witness that that evening ................ with Donald Sutherland sitting in front of me!

senanbyrne, that's not true at all. The pockets were MUCH tighter back then, particularly the middle pockets. Audiences, commentators and reporters always complain that pockets have been made wider and rounder over the past 15 years or so to encourage what they think today's TV audiences want to see, high breaks rather than technique.

  • Awesome, what a great memory! Agree, no way were the pockets bigger. I saw some recent Premier league and one shot where not only the commentator, but the player also couldn't believe the ball went in. This was a remarkable break.

  • Who is that commentating with Jack Karnhem?

  • Rex Williams I think

  • Rex Williams

  • Rex williams

  • Excellent, brings back old memories

  • bigger pockets.and no way gretest.ronnie's all 147s are better.very slow play here

  • yeah, ronnie is great i agree, but hurricaine higgins had charisma around the table like no-one has ever had before, and never will. the man was a genius!!

  • You have to remember that this was only the third televised maximum in the HISTORY of the game, you can't blame him for taking his time.

  • @gavpots 1st Steve Davis, 2nd Cliff Thorburn, and was Kirk really the 3rd?

  • Crap on. "All of ronnie's are better, I love ronnie, I want to kiss ronnie on the....bridge hand".

  • Actually, it's easier now. The pockets don't look bigger at all. That was the highlight of the greatest match of all time.

  • Spot on. Check out the buckets at the UK. A truly great maximum. Different balls, heavier nap and LOTS of pressure. Go Kirk!

  • Check out the threads ..... And the mullet.

  • Bigger pockets in them days - much harder now!

  • Bollocks. Watching the UK this week, I was amazed at how generous the pockets were, plus the cloth is faster these days, allowing easier position. Harder now, my arse!

  • positional play is actually harder with faster cloths. This is a documented fact. yes the pockets becoem abit more forgiving, but kicks are much worse today and positional play is harder.

  • AMAZING green

  • awesome
