just cooked this today after following your instructions in the video and it turned out FANTASTIC, in response to the idiot below, yes, the taste was explosive!
amount of spices used enough to make 5 times the one cooked in the video, i think you are influenced by Indian and Pakistani cuisine regarding spices amount
I had a friend from U.A.E. back in the early 80's and he made this one time and it was the best chicken dish Iever had tysm for sharing this I am going to make this in honor of a dear friend that will always be close to my heart :) I still miss Nabil to this day
Excellent, thank you!! I have friends from the middle east, lots of university students far from home, and I wanted to invite them over to give them a home cooked meal. I also wanted to try Arabic food because I heard it's delish.
Greetings, we love Indian food, you guys should come to Venezuela, and open Indian restaurant, you guys will get a looot of money, in a city call LECHERIA (MOST OF ALL PPL WHO LIVES THERE ARE RICH) AND LIKE TO TASTE ALL FOOD, WE LOVE your FOOD. AND YOU ARE WELCOME TO VENEZUELA. OPEN NICE RESTAURANT. Teach hindi etc. , sale Indian movies, curries, massalas, ect. Indian, Pakistan, “Asian”, Turkish, Arabic etch ppl come on! That’s a great business!! Trust me.

ok i am in philippine now they miss one spice and they didnt use flower its ok lets see how they will do this ill come to know with in 20 min but couldnt wait to comment coz i still remember how lovely the tast of maqlooba
Oh Man! I'm Palestinian and my mom made this so often, I grew tired of it. I used to put yogurt (laban) on the rice, it was good. It doesn't matter what the occasion is, graduation- MAQLOOBEH, relative coming to visit- MAQLOOBEH, family getting together- MAQLOOBEH.
Thank u for putting this n english for us to read I'm a black lady n have arabic roomates n I want to please them. Where do I get ingridiants turimic? Something like that sorry. Can I get it n food 4 less stores or. Ralphs?
Typically, Palestinians choose to make Either Makloobet Zahra (Cauliflower) or Makloobet Betenjaan (Eggplant) but I've never seen both ingredients mixed together.
Thank you! I'm especially thankful for the names of the spices...I always wondered how Arabic cooking should be spiced! I'm surprised to know how important the Turmeric is.. Good to know, thank you again!
Love the song - I have a feeling mine wont look like that hahhaha Nope well it wont hurt to try but not before guests come 1st time recipes should not be cooked when guests come i learnt my lesson hahahhaha. :0
does asian rice applicable to these recipe?? would love to try these honestly.. I missed this kinbd of arabic food so much.. I remember the days when I was in saudi arabia.. I hope asian rice would do.
well asian rice can be very sticky, like the jasmine rice, u can use any type of rice u like as long as its not sticky, the rice is preferred to be fluffy in most arabic recipes, but if not available i guess u can use whatever u have.
is Chicken Maqlooba same or closer to Chicken Kabsah?? but when I saw this video it's almost closer to kabsah.. I wonder what made difference of the two.. thanks for answering and sharing recipes it's sooo mouth watering..
@killyourself205 dont be such a f*ck ass retard in commenting I don't need your gay ass opinion here.... good luck to you then.. you have a very bright future...
@kertzey sorry about the sarcasim.but i'm lebanese and asian rice will work but you wont get the same results.asian rice is vry sticky so everything might clump up on you.for best results use good quality basmati rice.
that should supposed to be the right comment u typed in , not like you went out of conclusion saying that I am stupid in here, dude next time comprehend of what you have read .. can't you see? I have a big question mark sign in there "?" ----means it is asking if it is possible or not .. correct?? sarcasm is not the right term for you.. Hypocrite that's the right term in there..
please look in the description bar or under the (more info) link on the right top, i have the song info + a link to the video it self! and thanks for ur comment!
Very good! I sometimes replace some of the spices with some "Maggie" I think for chicken or Lamb its the best, its got half of the spices needed to give it the flavor!
Thank you for the reply. I will make this with chicken like yours first and then I will try beef. The dish I had was thick with mouth sized pieces of beef, the sauce was like stew and yes I'm sure it contained spinish also, as I asked my friend and his mother made this dish alo when he was little. I wish the rest. was still there I'd go and ask what it was called. It was a very small place with only 4 tables. Thank you bintkan3an :)
yeah, i think i know what ur taking about, my recipe is something completely different, but equals it in the quality of flavor. i will try to post a video of the spinach recipe with the beef stew. let me know how it turns out for u. thank you for ur comments :)
this looks fairly easy and delicious.. i was looking for dish made with spinich and beef. I had it before with friend from Jordan at a middle east rest. it was thick like stew and served with rice , and sweet tea of course. thanks for showing how to make this yummy dish!
are you sure it was spinach?? i have a video for a recipe made with Mulokheya (Corchorus) check it out its probably the same. i made it with chicken though.
its not only about the chicken, its about the whole dish, the chicken is just one of the ingredients that make this dish yummy, but its the concept of the way this dish is cooked, with the ingredients in it! hope u give it a try when u have the time.
you can use any part of the chicken u like, the main thing is to use the chicken stock from the chicken, u can also choose to add beef or lamb instead of chicken which will turn out even better tasting. thanks for ur comment.
u have too much eggplant and cauliflower in your maqlooba. it would taste better if you put less of those ingredients. i put more baby carrots than cauliflower or eggplant in my maqlooba
when it comes to the amount of veggies added, what to put less of or more of, is more of a personal preference, some people don't add eggplants at all, which is totally fine. thank you for the comment!
Poor lady, did you have to hold the camera with one hand and cook with the other? :) We have a Palestinian friend, and this video makes me think of her. Thanks for uploading!
It looks delicious mashaallah, will try it tonight. How to u re heat the dish ?i mean i will cook it 3hours it advance ,how to do re heat it?micro wave?nooooooo...plz let me know.jazakallah
yeah u can scoop some in a microwave and heat it, or put it in an oven safe dish, cover it with foil and heat in the oven, or u can leave it in the pot, add half a cup water, and heat it on medium low heat. for smaller portions, microwave is best, for larger portions, the other two ways are better. hope that answers ur question!
thanks for ur comment, and let me know how it went!
Marry Me too! Wallah, I love ur video! Reminds me of my old cooking days:( I don't cook much arabic food now because i have no one to cook for but myself! hehehe..teslam 7abibi for the Video!
I'm half Palestinian and my mom makes this quiet often and it tastes amazing!!! it is even better with plain yogurt on top!! mmmmm I'm starving just thinking about it!
it might look a little like it, but it tastes way different, i can cook biryani, and i know what it tastes like, please try my recipe for this dish so you can see the differance, they are completeley different dishe's
Salam, sis. I'm Msian. Thank you for the recipe and the music. I've been searching for the recipes & singer and you even provide the link to the song. Thank You! I'm definitely cooking this. I love everything abt Arabs.
Ok I made this last night for the first time My husband loved it Thanks for Posting!! Please make more vids! 5stars all the way........NEW Subscriber........
Salaams, i made this dish yesterday (my 1st attempt at arabic cooking) and surprisingly it turned out well mashallah.BUT i didnt have the courage to turn the whole pot upsidedown lol. Anyway the food tasted delicious, my family said make it everyday :) compliments to Bintkan3an youre a great chef! Love the background song
I made this in ramathan and it was so good, today i am having guests so i hope it turns out good this time. When i was living in the u.s a Palestinian lady used to make it for us but i never asked her for the recipe so thanks for posting.
you sure can do it, it may look like its hard but really its not, its very easy, to me its one of the easiest arabic recipe out there.. let me know how it turns out when you do. and thank you for commenting on my channel and video =D
based on the so many inquiries and just an FYI for everyone, i have a link in the discribtion on the top right with the link to the song info with the music video of the actual song. enjoy!
1st time cook of arabic...it was ok...couldnt find 7spicen *WHAT/WHERE IS IT ,WHERE CAN I FIND IT? ill use stock instead of water next time and a touch more spice to give the flavor abit more punch...ill definately cook it again...i had it with yoghurt and tomato salad and lebanese bread...they were great for the sides..thx for that
wow im glad you tried it, but im sure ill turn out way better if you use the stock because all the spices are in it or most of them, and with the chicken flavor in it, it gives the whole dish a better taste than if you just use water, so using the chicken stock is key.. seven spice is available at middle eastern grocery stores. if u do not find it, make sure u use everything else. hope you try it again. and let me know. =D.
Looks good! Does anyone know the name of the song? I really liked it

1st time cook of arabic...it was ok...couldnt find 7spicen *WHAT/WHERE IS IT ,WHERE CAN I FIND IT? ill use stock instead of water next time and a touch more spice to give the flavor abit more punch...ill definately cook it again...i had it with yoghurt and tomato salad and lebanese bread...they were great for the sides..thx for that
BenKHouch 2 years ago
wow im glad you tried it, but im sure ill turn out way better if you use the stock because all the spices are in it or most of them, and with the chicken flavor in it, it gives the whole dish a better taste than if you just use water, so using the chicken stock is key.. seven spice is available at middle eastern grocery stores. if u do not find it, make sure u use everything else. hope you try it again. and let me know. =D.
