This is what happened, Covenant sniper, either an extroadinary Sangheili in the campain with a needle rifle, or a jackal, but what ever; he/she was a hero...Imagine Kat still blabbing her mouth, "6, cover me" "6, destroy that generator" 6, swap that sniper for that plasma rifle" "1+2=3 2+3=5". That would've been h311.

@StealthWolf359 Apparently, the sniper was an Elite Field Marshal, who's presumably the same guy as the fuel-rod wielding bastard that you finally get to kill at the end of "The Pillar of Autumn" (he's also probably the guy who takes a swipe at Jorge and tackles Six down in one of the cutscenes in "Winter Contingency"; a lot of people like to assume that his Zealot team has been trying to hunt down Noble Team for most of the game).

I can't see the Field Marshall. And it's wierd how it's rank is a human rank. And why that sort of stuff never happens to the Master Chief Petty Officer, I mean, John has been in war for many years and he never gets hurt. And the Chief is hyper lethal and 6 is too, but 6 still died. I don't get it.

@StealthWolf359 Bungie's Legendary edition commentary mentions that it was the Zealot leader who killed Kat, and Field Marshal is apparently the highest Zealot-related rank. (Also, don't get hung up that it sounds like a human rank; from an in-story perspective, it's obviously nothing more than the closest English translation to the original Sangheli). Also, the books actually show that John gets hurt A LOT, it's just that he's always lucky enough to survive his injuries.

Well, I guess...But I see, 6 died saving the Chief, Cortana, and the rest, actually saving humanity because the Chief and Cortana saved humanity (chain reaction LOL), Emile died unsuspectedly, trying to save humanity (but 6 had to take over), Carter died saving 6 and Emile, Jun went MIA saving Hasely, Kat died unsuspected, and Jorge died not knowing there are more Covenant. Soap died saving Yuri and Yuri died attempting to kill Makarov.

@adonys10 I do she died to show that Spartans aren't invincible and to show a real life casualty of war. She also had the saddest death she didn't see it coming and died in vain, carter made it possible to [pass the torch] Jorge stalled the fall of Reach while killing millions of millions or elites Emile got his death avenged by him (coolest death ever), noble 6 kicked at least ten elites without his helm so they could have hit his face and insti kill. So some people do but others are blind

Actually, Kat's death was showing that she had a problem with her shields, or just had them off for some reason (Which is more likely). If she had shields, she would have survived. When you think about it, only Carter truly died not in vain. Reach still fell despite Emile and Six. Jorge stopped one supercarrier, but more came immediately after. Kat dying was probably to pay off her past regrets, but also showed she made critical thinking errors (I.E. She also lost an arm).
