  • I collected these in the sea of cortez for marine biomedical research. Funny enough, we thought one was empty, so I kept it and just wanted to preserve it, and just before I was going to shock the vial to eliminate Gram negative bacteria, the little guy came out! Well, he is now being used for research in anesthesiology :o)

    Great footage!

  • Sorry guys this species is NOT deadly. In fact people have only been killed by some of the larger fish eating species from the tropical Pacific and Indiana Ocean. You CAN be stung by several other species rather like a bee sting and likely one or two Atlantic and possibly Conus dalli from the Sea of Cortez COULD be dangerous. The species you are showing is not a dangerous one though.

  • how did you collect them without getting stung?

  • Thankyou for posting this! Someday I'm going to go to the ocean, it would suck to be killed by a cone shell! Thanks again!

*goes to look for close up pictures*
