  • Post Vatican II Catholics are deprived of the grandeur and sacredness of the majestic organ! They're ears and sensitivities are unfortunately trained to endure the cringed inducing, protestant-inspired 60's folklore of contemporary musician, Marty "On Eagles Wings" Haugen!

  • I've not heard this one before, which in itself is so refreshing. Such artistry!

  • Genialne !!

  • I think if I tried this at my local Anglican church, most of the old people would need medical assistance.

  • @bakelitetim

    hehehe...

  • @bakelitetim

    Ah, Do it anyway!

  • The clergy must have been extremely jealous of his rapport with the public.

  • this is amazing, again and again it is amazing!

  • Fabuloso!!!!

  • Grandioso Pierre Chochereau il re degli improvvisatori! Roberto Grazioli (Italia 2011)

  • @robertograzioli Condivido ...

  • When I saw and heard Cochereau at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco - he was handed a tune to improvize upon - and when he saw it he jokingly shrugged his shoulders!! After everyone stopped laughing he proceded to perform one helluvan improvization!! I spoke with an organist who asked Cochereau how he could improvize so well - and he reportedly replied 'It's a gift!' Indeed! Cochereau, Improvization, and Cavaille Coll are some of the very best words in the world!

  • Not at all a big Cochereau fan, but I really like this one.

  • The Cochereau organ was at its peak in the 1970s - awesome power coupled with red hot chamades sizzling down the nave. More please.

  • ...this is plainly monstruous...

  • Please give me the icon of an open mouth with the jaw dropped on the floor...

  • Theodopolis!

Can you please tell me where can I find those recordings from the 70s?

Thank you for your comment. Where can I find those recordings from the 70s? I have been searching for them for quite a time ?

  • Excellent!

  • des "pisse froid"? des noms, des noms!! ;-) ;-) ...suis assez d'accord avec vous cependant! ;-)

  • Awesome!! I like Cochereau so much!!!

  • such a shame that the chamades don't have the same bite nowadays

  • @mdj3913

  • Pierre Cochereau improvised this Sortie on August 17, 1975, at Notre-Dame de Paris. It is included in the Solstice CD "Pierre Cochereau, l'organiste liturgique", released in 2005 as SOCD 226.
