I absolutely love your videos, thanks for devoting you to make them. Amazing usage of the songs (especially Radiohead), very creative and epic! Where is the scene from at 1:33 btw?:)
This is a fantastic tribute to Baz Luhrmann's work. Excellent. Thank you for sharing. I love all his movies but I think for me, R&J will always be my favourite no matter what. Moulin Rouge is a close second though.
Amazing vid !!!! I love Baz Lurhmann's work, I love all his movies. He is definitly my favourite director after Tim Burton. He is my number 2. And your video reflects beautifully Luhrmann's works =).
In my opinion, this is the best tribute in the series [the films of] so far. You manage to grasp both the beauty and the drama in Luhrmann's work, and the way you combine the three songs with the images and the movement in the films is astounding. Every time I watch this, I feel the sudden need to rewatch the movies. I wish the producers of today's movie trailers had your talent, vision and passion.
i'm gonna disagree with what WillsVargas89 says. especially about the song choices. i think the music choices in all your videos are impeccable. keep up the great work :) may i suggest a guillermo del toro one down the line?
I always wondered with these kind of videos;cause i was gonna do something like this for a contest but i was gonna do one actor and one actress 2 different videos by the way lol
but anyway when you do something like this do u use all the movies or just the ones you like?
all your [the films of] videos have the same thing in common,
they all built momentum but don't plateau, they don't reach their peak
at under three minutes, the videos are too short to fully appreciate the director's work
you have potential, keep it up
also you might want to choose your music a little better, something that reflects the films and directors taste, idk how many video tributes i've seen that choose to make the films adapt to the music instead of making the music adapt to the films
@WillsVargas89 Yes, I see your point. The most important cause for these 'problems' are that this is YouTube. People need that hook, they want to see stuff get done in quick succession. I'm not a big fan of it either, but it does fit my wish to do one every month and I don't have all that much time for a big, epic 7-minute montage. The series is more about showing the minds that shape film today, both individually as well as collectively.
@keesvdijkhuizen I wouldn't pay too much attention to some of these prosaic, superficial and cynical critiques. As a much older editor, I beg you not to get bogged down by the undue influence of folks who don't watch movies with their eyes and heart. Or by crass commercial thinkers. I'm telling you, it can happen as you get older. Keep cutting as elegantly and thoughtfully as you do here, and you will remain far ahead of all the so-called professionals whose work sells tickets but moves no one.
@keesvdijkhuizen love the way your doing it now short and sweet is what keeps me coming back again and again the sheer epicness you fit into that 2 min 50 second window is just incredible keep it up
@WillsVargas89 I know I'm kinda late but I disagree with your critique of the music. I feel his use of music for each filmmaker was genius; quaint indie for Sophia Coppola, electronic for David Fincher, psychedelic for Wes Anderson, etc. It fits with the persona of each and the overarching feel of their movies.
@keesvdijkhuizen So would you like to make a video for when I become a director? Just imagine David Fincher, Danny Boyle, and Darren Aronofsky mixed into one and you'll get a gist of the kind of director I hope to be:) P.S I promise to make one for you as well...
You should try Bunuel, one of the greatest of all time. :) But if you're looking for something more mainstream, try David Lynch or Spike Jonze, that'd be awesome!
Hey Kees, I made the suggestion a few months back that it'd be really cool if you used the title cards from the actual movies. I really hope my suggestion created the best part of the video considering it was Radiohead related.
Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, Jean-Luc Godard, PT Anderson, Ingmar Bergman, Woody Allen, Alfred Hitchcock, The Coen Bros, Spike Jonze, Spike Lee, Michel Gondry, James Cameron, Edgar Wright, Jason Reitman... the list of directors I would love to see you tackle is absurd.
It was magic once Radiohead came on. Oh and I'm just biding my time till, or if, you do Harry Potter, because I will LOSE it, then somehow regain my senses, once I see that one.
@robertsom I agree with robertsom Scorsese, Coppola {Francis},Cohens or Hitchcock why even Burton I think you took a step backwards with S Coppola and Anderson
@ChurchOfMe93 Same here. I really loved the clip with Radiohead, tied it all together quite well. I hope the OP makes money doing this some how, because he is DAMN GOOD!!
Amazing yet again, and now i have to go and watch all of Baz Luhrmann's films, becuase i havnt seen any of them. I was hoping to watch them before this came out, but i didnt have a chance :(
You're the best. Every entry in this series has felt new and different from the last, and each time they're edited amazingly well. Thanks for everything, looking forward to June. : )
