  • super peaceful music, though in a sad way

  • Makes me think of the end of the world. All the pain and suffering ended. Peaceful silence.

  • Are you people serious? How can you listen to a masterpiece like this and want to argue in the comment section while it plays. Chill out.

  • The beginning of this reminds me of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind"

  • 6 Differences anyone? love this song

  • @keeponarockinme2011 It's not misquoted, It's not out of context. That's what you people keep telling yourselves because none of you dope noses have actually ever read the bible. You're not even smart enough to realize you're christian because of where you were born and the parents you had. Because I already know it doesn't matter how many times I prove your beliefs wrong, or how many times I expose Christianity as cruel and forceful. You're too weak to question it.

  • @NanoHorizon True.

  • @keeponarockinme2011 Oh, a bible quote. Heres a bible quote.

" When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again." Exodus 21:7-11

Yeah, let's all live by the bible, what a great idea.

  • i hear this song ones and it's like.

this song it's putting me to sleep.

  • Whenever i get stressed out or i can't sleep i always listen to this it's so relaxing :) makes me forget my problems

  • This song Is what I wake up to every weekday morning. So beautiful. :)

  • this is what realizing you are in love feels like

  • Youtube - said it before -I need a repeat button. I love this album, bought it twice due to scratching the first one up. Amazing and inspiring.

  • Could anyone show me some more music that is similar to this. I really like it :)

  • 6 differences hell yeaaaah

  • green calx.... odd that they both must've loved id software at the same time, but for whatever reason decided not like like eachother, i wonder if they've ever talked since then.

  • This is perfect late night music. Driving around aimlessly at night to nowhere in particular with this playing. Just fits so perfectly.

  • @DontGoInThere Agreed

  • its beautiful... ಥ_ಥ

  • this is the song i want to hear before i die, so everything will be in peace when i rest eternally.

  • this song makes me feel tingly and warm inside

  • DaisyTree1

  • Time and place

We are more alike then we are different

  • After journeying through the streets bleeding, you finally die at your lover's grave site while smiling in the rain remembering your promise to be forever happy. The sun rises and the world starts anew sun shining on your body. You are home

  • @Lilly0Kins Or a weary soldier heading home after a war. Just him, a plane load of his brothers in arms, and thoughts of being back home with his family and friends. Then he finally lands to a crowd of cheering people and rushes into his families warm embrace.

  • @Lilly0Kins I remember being told about paradise, how it was explained to me when my grandfather died. He read the bible every day, he couldn't be wrong. I grew up, and I've taken charge of my own life only to realize my parents have no clue how the world actually is, they don't know how the cities bus system works, let alone where people go when they die. What business was it of theirs to tell such a lie? alas, this is where god lives, in the hearts of scared people, in the vulnerable.

  • @Lilly0Kins a bit too Hollywood-esque

  • @Lilly0Kins You made it.

  • @30inventionman Paradise, yes. I keep asking believers why they don't just kill themselves, and they keep giving me the same weak answers.

  • @NanoHorizon Weak will-power, feeble-minded.

  • @NanoHorizon BTW heres an answer. Cause God gave us a mission and a purpose, and ending our own life would be a waste.

  • @WiiWad Yeah, right. Because cancer has a mission, hey?

  • @NanoHorizon

you're a sad cunt with nothing better to do, I hope for your sake that you drown in the sink x

  • @TheNutcase101 You live up to your name.

  • This is how it feels to miss someone.

  • this song is made even better when i hear birds chirping outside my window :)

  • Sucks that he doesnt make music anymore

  • @TheRadborne What? Yeah he does haha. How To Destroy Angels is his current project with his wife and then he is going to be doing more NIN material down the road. It's just on hold.

  • @GloryLizard I was talking about NIN, but I guess you answered that. CAN'T WAIT!

  • @TheRadborne Me neither!

  • I have to say that listening to this at this very moment when i realized about something meaningless its an experience far beyond i could imagine, something new and incredible. A minute ago my heart was in ruins. And i was furious, the blood of my fists its still fresh at the wall. But i feel like the pulse of the everithing in a lukewarmt syntony. I mean i was listening T.A.O.S.D.1, ready to walk into the grinder and now my hands dont even shake. I feel great. i feel peace.

  • What I love about reading these comments is everyone has so many different images in their head when they listen to this song. It makes the song so much more beautiful.

  • good song to listen to when layin in bed, drawing, driving down the road, drinking a beer remembering today and the past, while going for a walk, for many things.....thats why music can related to everything in all angles, shapes, and point of views :)

  • This song makes me think, it inspires me to actually reach my goals, it makes me think. It makes me dream.

  • Does anyone know how to get the rest of the Ghosts album for free off the nin website? I know I-IV is up but can yu get the rest for free? I would love to have it I love the entire album

  • @GiaReznorXx I-IV is all that there is :/

  • has that bass sound from ghost 18

  • This music would go perfect for a timelapse of the milkyway

  • it makes me remember the bgm from minecraft, so peacefull, and awesome

  • The whole Ghost album has one message. Something for your brain to chew and savor the flavor. One day free music will be of the past and we will have nothing to sing about. FYI.

  • Oh wow.

The music ended and I was like.. NOOOO WHAT... why did it have to stop...

  • Makes me feel like I'm with someone on their last day of life. We're just looking out the window in early mid afternoon and things are bright. The day, whatever way you think about it, is fulfilling in itself. Not that I would know, it's just that his songs are really vivid as they are transient, elusive, things like that. But that's what reality is for all of us I guess, regardless of how we decide to live.

  • Another Illusion! the picture is moving slightly if u stare at it

  • this was always my favorite of the ghosts

  • This song is so beautiful. Everytime I hear it, I honestly have to hold back tears. Idk why.

  • I'm hungover right now and this song is so soothing and peaceful :) just what I need. <3

  • to the seven people who dislike this:we apologize for whoever hurt you:)

  • @jimrobdale1 yeah

  • I think it's safe to say that both Trent Reznor and Maynard James Keenan will leave (or have already left, which goes to show..) a legacy behind... of millions and millions of adoring fans who learned so much and experienced the most unique feelings through their music.

Never has a song brought me to tears. Trent Reznor has succeeded in doing just that. It's art like this that let's us throw down our weapons and hug each other. Boy, girl, animal, tree- Who cares! This music is love incarnate!

  • trent's music brings tears to my eyes at times. besides when hearing songs like this, and hurt, i NEVER cry, and that's a fact. this is a beautiful piece.

  • *Tear

  • Trent is a genius.

  • DaisyTree1

  • @Cream234 Yeah... poor Maddy

  • how can anyone dislike this ???

  • i always thought nine inch nails was some kind of screamo band

this piece of music is changing my perspective of them, and i might even look into their band

  • @sonicusr yes, u should do this...

i was your opinnion, too. but then i found out: it´s one of the best bands evarr.

    this sounds, his voice, genious!

  • This song makes me shiver. But I refuse to hit pause, and continue to press replay.

  • this song reminds me of birth - at the end you can hear the new born 's breath

  • @Affenbart Or you can go the other way around.. When I listen to it, it's more like a person on their deathbed, hooked up to life support to help them breathe. It slowly dies out as they pass away.

  • My fav ghosty!

  • Listening to this song lets me disconnect from the realities of life. I really love this piece. It is so beautiful, and elegant.

  • I think this album ("Ghosts I-IV"), "Purest Feeling", "Pretty Hate Machine" and "Still" are the best releases Trent's ever pumped out as Nine Inch Nails. Fuck, I'll even thrown in "Further Down The Spiral (Halo 10, Vol.2)" just cuz that's so flippin' amazing as well! :)

  • So beautiful.... There is something about this song that makes me smile and takes away my stress. :)

  • taking a walk during silent snowy winter ngihts

  • @Xayo I listened to this whole album doing that last night!

  • i feel happy about this song... :)

  • awsome song, but please stop posting such shity quality dude :/

  • Near the end, you can hear Trent breathing. It's like the ghost is going to sleep.

  • This is terrible.

And by terrible, I mean FUCKING AMAZING. Such a beautiful piece of music. Simple, yet so complex and emotional.

  • simply put, this is beauty

  • what genre of music is this classified as? i'm having a really hard time finding tracks like this.... someone please help.

  • @DaEmoBoii This song would be classified as "ambient." However, not all songs on NIN's Ghosts are ambient, most aren't actually. There are some incredible artists that specialize in the ambient genre; Brian Eno, Boards of Canada, Tangerine Dream, to name a few of the best. Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works Vol.2" is incredible.

  • @SamAndrew27 thank you so much :D

  • how did this make me cry

  • why do people assume that this is a ghost of peace? i think of it as a sad, lonely personality, the lonliness from the breathing noises, which makes me think there's one person, all alone wishing there was someone else there.

  • This song creeps me out a bit...but wondeful piano

  • that was comparable to the feeling of postclimax. Fantastic.

  • @dRoWnDinDreAmS Ambient music is closely associated with New Age music

  • Ive gotta say, i was in no way impressed with the ghost songs. They just werent me type of music. But this... This is my type of music. Are there any other ghost songs that sound as nice as this one?

  • @LPersUnanimous

sometimes you have to listen to a song twice. i listened to the ghost album and didn't hear much of anything i liked. went back over it and found incredible music such as this song here in a third of the songs on the album. now, ghosts holds some of my fav songs of any band.

  • Why people argue about religion over this beautiful music. It doesnt matter whether you believe or not, music is the way we get to understand our own feelings, and this song proves it just as much. It doesnt matter if your an athiest or follower in any religious practice, this song makes you feel who you are (in my opinion) and at least you can be yourself when listening to it. I do and i feel peace and beautiful memories come back to me. Please people dont argue over something like this.

  • @TheAaron87 Well said :)

  • @TheAaron87 Nicely worded sir...Nicely worded indeed

  • @TheAaron87 bumping this up on top so everyone can see your post (:

  • @mypassionfruit That's the first time i've seen someone do that, i wish I could see that more often :)

  • Comment removed

  • @TheAaron87 agreed...music is like the key to unlock the chest of everything u really are....Religion is just something that got made so that they make your life like a mission...they made so that ur very existence has a common goal with others, but this music makes u feel free and unlocks who you really are inside

  • @TheAaron87 Tis the nature of online identities, they can be anyone they want, thus, can say anything they want with little to no consequence or face-to-face confrontation. Sad, isn't it..

  • Has anyone else here played Knytt? It's a fantastic and entrancing game, and this album fits the game at least as well as its actual soundtrack.

  • FML i listened to this song so much that i cant play the whole hting in my head backwards

  • 6 people are deaf and blind so they didnt understand the song and missed the "like" ... how sad

  • sooooo relaxing especially in a starry night.....i want 2 listen 2 this in a clear grass field then its night and very starry and im just there lying down and watching the stars.....i dreamt of tht last night

  • @dRoWnDinDreAmS i'm sure that weed u be smoking don't hurt none either. no one listens to music like this staring at the stars sober, unless ur like a monk or someshit ur like me blazin kush and kickin back

  • just goes to show you haters that the NIN arent all emo and scary and shit

  • this is the song in 6 Differences Game! finally found it!

  • This is twirling in a sunflower field over and over again ;-) The wind playing w/ your hair while you spin round n' round - Just forgetting everything - laughter - innocense - freedom ;-)

  • watch?v=DigvB3iDjMo

saludos desde Chile. ( mi insipiente proyecto )

  • The insttrumental album is great because it allows one to look past the negative words Trent comes up with.

I think too many people get caught up in the lyrics to NIN's music. But I like the negative lyrics sometimes, I'm a fan till the end.

  • @dRoWnDinDreAmS I'd sell my soul to the devil just to see a warm night sky with no clouds and high to see all the starts, and lay on top of a car!

  • @JohnBigOz94 all u need to do to bring the devil into your life is ask him to come in. he's very accepting

  • @KBoogs719 I am an Atheist so I don't belive in god, hence, I don't believe in devil or hell :D. such an easy living.

  • @JohnBigOz94 i thought you might say that, that's the thing tho, i consider myself an atheist as well, i don't believe jesus christ is my lord or savior and i don't believe in any other convention of religion either, but i think God is real and i do think there may be an entity that could be said to be the devil maybe not in the way christians describe him or her but definitely a real being. and i think if you ask him he will enter your life no matter what u believe.

  • @KBoogs719 You're obviously not an atheist if you believe in a god.... Not that this is the place for religious conversations anyways....

  • @PygmyKing y not? i imagine any place is a good place for a good debate or conversation.

  • @JohnBigOz94 i heard this guy say in a movie i dont believe in god or the devil that way i'm never disappointed! i thought there was some truth to what he said, but i believe life is faaaaaar more complicated that just good and evil or god or devil, we r NOT in disagreement man, brother, friend i just wish you the best in your search for meaning. could just be the weed and this song that got me all touchy feely so take it with a grain of salt. or whatever they say

  • @JohnBigOz94 enjoy the afterlife... whatever that is to you....

  • i love the game six diff's lol thats what this songs from i love NIN

  • This is the best music NIN has ever made.

  • NIN......one more time the best ,since the first time that i listened in 1990......

  • Beautiful, stunning synthwork. Looking forward to more volumes of Ghosts in the future. Sad I won't ever see NIN live again, but Trent's more ambient NIN work is truly him at his best and will keep me satisfied.

  • this music is like if trents come out of his depression which he's suffered for years and finally coming around to write songs that seem to have an uplifting effect. not that his past songs are bad, i mean i've been a NIN for 8-9 years now and never looked back on them, its just this song seems like he's finally found peace,

  • nin is so good that it makes metaljohn666 laugh and smile ;D

  • When ever i here this song i get the image of a father looking at his son for the first time. and hes so happy and the child is just sleeping and hes all warm and happy

  • the first time a father sees his son, the baby would likely be crying.

  • well when born yes but when he was sleeping in the incubator.. when he was all dressed up and there was a few of them around but u know what ones urs and the pride

  • mmmh.... goodnight people............zzzzzz

  • When I stare at the picture it looks like it's moving.

  • Dats because you are stoned

  • lmao i thought it a movie !! from the name WTF

  • Go back to music school, John.

  • the best ghosts track for me... i listen it when i go to school, listen when i sleep, I listen to when winter comes, summer, the change of seasons. day night. when the snow when the sun is shining. this song fit anywhere. it is perfect in its elevated sadness. song from those pieces which are played differently each time. everything is perfect in it, starting with the first stroke, the end of the cover photo.

  • This is by far my favorite track on Ghosts. It helps me sleep, and I've got bad sleeping habits. =\ But it's very relaxing. : D Thanks Trent. ^^

  • stfu dude go listen to ur metallica

  • nice tune lol it keeps me calm :)

  • seriously, nobody gives a shit for what you think. when you feel like ready for NIN come back and listen to these songs again, only then you'll be able to know if they suck or not, because right now all you can do is listen to 30 seconds of the track and posting agressive comments.

  • you tought?

    what is that?

  • It's progressive, which widens it alot. And for crying out loud, your name is ridiculous, Metaljohn666. Are you 14 or what?

  • probably is!

    XD

    i hate metal heads.

  • I wouldn't call this progressive, as it doesn't progress. Just the same progression through out.

    More like Ambient.

  • song for my dead

  • similar music Jon Brion

  • Just listen to Gymnopedie No.1 by Erik Satie. See the similarities?

  • I adore Satie and I am just so excited that someone else hears the same thing:)

    Think that was purposeful?

  • Well Iove both Satie and Nine Inch Nail. I don't know if it was on purpose, the melody isn't the same but it sure remembers me on of the other. Weird though is that when I hear both, one followed by the other, I can see they are not that alike, still seems like the same "inspiration" or person wrote it... Am I beeing clear to you?

To the guys saying bad things about Metallica, don't be rude, Metallica has some great songs, you can't deny it.

  • I hear it in the very beginning. The first few chord progressions especially. I was in a Satie ballet. I wonder if I could choreograph something for this. Food for thought!

  • When I hear this song, I think of a man who just explained something to someone, like in the climax of a movie. Now he's riding the subway home, relaying the events in his head.

  • well-said. :)

  • I cant find this on I tunes does anyone know were I can find it

  • Comment removed

  • i think you buy this off the nin website. apparently you can either buy it or download it for free. trent trusts his fans

  • at your local music store

  • me neither been trying to find it

  • Hey this music is used in the game "6 differences" The game realy portrayed the mood of the music.

  • i gota check out that game now lol. what system? im guessing PC?

i only have Xbox 360 that can play games...my pc blows.

  • I like how you can interpret and feel however you want to each Ghosts song.

  • Reznor and Ross, thanks for this. This is one of my favorite tracks, ranking up there even with some of the tracks from "Still." Almost makes me feel like there's hope for us still...

  • this is bone chilling.... but so peaceful. This is the best thing NIN has ever done.

  • so great. the actual nin band are trent atticus and alan moulder

  • Absolutely love this song but the added sound effects in the video don't improve it imo. Album version is perfect just how it is.

  • You guys should look up the free flash game "6 Differences". This song plays throughout the first half of the game and it fits perfectly. Plus, everybody who plays the game can't seem to figure out where the song comes from.

  • i know!

it made the game so much more fun!

  • yeah that game was awesome with the nin music, it was just so incredibly tranquil playing that game listening to ghosts 12 and 13

  • Haha I'm good friends with that guy. IvoryDrive.

I was the one who recommended for him to use this song.

  • "Dreaming of waterfalls"

What I always called this track but I agree with jacko39 about this particular piece being the "ghost of peace" as I too always felt a sense of inner peace when I listen to it. And I'm not sure what the ticking is at the beginning of the song, but, for some reason it is very soothing; like the ticking from a clock, how relaxing.

  • Easily the highlight of the entire Ghosts I - IV album. Simply outstanding.

  • this is the ghost of peace. i love how each song or "ghost" has its own personality you can feel.

  • @jacko39 peace, or serenity?
