He spends the entirety of nearly every one of CM Punk's matches talking about John laurinaitis. Lawler used to be great, not so much anymore. Cole is unbearable. I like heels but there's a difference between good heat and bad heat. Lawler, back in the day, made a good heel comentator. Cole is simply annoying. But Lawler has lost the ability to, like these guys said, care.

So, when the wrestler fumbles, the commentator is able to give the audience a reason for that fumble and that it's not that the character sucks, it's because of this reason and that reason.
How would I commentate on Orton? I'm not paid to do that job so it's neither here nor there.

There's no energy or excitement present in Jerry Lawler's current commentary on RAW, which is awful. in the 90's, through the Attitude Era and well into the last decade. Lawler was clever and hilarious. J.R. is J.R. but since Lawler doesn't quite sound the same, when these two guys are on commentary together, the contrast in opinions and views that JR and Lawler once had is no longer there, because it used to be witty, engaging, and entertaining. Its almost like Jerry Lawler lost his smile.

J.R. you could tell had a passion for it, and you could tell Lawler loved it too. Lawler was awesome at being able to cheer for heels but not come off as a douche like micheal cole does. J.R. and Lawler had great back and forth moments back in the day. Now when you hear them together, you can tell they dont care anymore.

If u think about it all these years, King is pretty bad at commentary. He always says "What" when something interesting happens. Heck even Matt Striker was a better commentator. That was a dynamite team, but to me, they're still not the best. The best to me will always be Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Some people say Bobby Heenan was a better color commentator to complement Gorilla, but either way, Gorilla is my favorite commentator of all time, and it feels good to not have been argued with about that.

I think they would be the closest thing to a Gorilla/Ventura tandom (which were one of the three best of that era, along with Ventura/McMahon and Gorilla/Heenan). I honestly thought that JBL was the best color villian since "the Body." Hell, WWE should hire him back, team him up with Striker, and let them work commentary on Smackdown.

I grew up with Lawler & JR. Lawler as a heel commentator, and JR being both a face/indifferent. But the real thing that made them one of (if not, the) best commentating team was their reactions. The purest, most believable reactions made any moment a classic.

But as former wrestling greats, Monsoon & Ventura had a great back & forth commentary where neither one ever backed down from the other. They were by far the best commentary duo even though they didn't work together as often as they should have.

There's no energy or excitement present in Jerry Lawler's current commentary on RAW, which is awful. in the 90's, through the Attitude Era and well into the last decade. Lawler was clever and hilarious. J.R. is J.R. but since Lawler doesn't quite sound the same, when these two guys are on commentary together, the contrast in opinions and views that JR and Lawler once had is no longer there, because it used to be witty, engaging, and entertaining. Its almost like Jerry Lawler lost his smile.

@TripleRp I agree 100%. J.R. and Lawler were gold on commentary from the beginning of the atitude era up until around 2005. There were so many great moments. J.R. you could tell had a passion for it, and you could tell Lawler loved it too. Lawler was awesome at being able to cheer for heels but not come off as a douche like micheal cole does. J.R. and Lawler had great back and forth moments back in the day. Now when you hear them together, you can tell they dont care anymore.

If u think about it all these years, King is pretty bad at commentary. He always says "What" when something interesting happens. Heck even Matt Striker was a better commentator. That was a dynamite team, but to me, they're still not the best. The best to me will always be Gorilla Monsoon and Jesse "The Body" Ventura. Some people say Bobby Heenan was a better color commentator to complement Gorilla, but either way, Gorilla is my favorite commentator of all time, and it feels good to not have been argued with about that.

JR messes up all the time but his commentary can make a gut kick the most exciting move in the world. cole doesnt call the match, he just disses on the face the whole time. the king just disses on the heel all day. striker actually knows his shit and calls the "action" in ring and not the main event of raw or smackdown

I think they would be the closest thing to a Gorilla/Ventura tandom (which were one of the three best of that era, along with Ventura/McMahon and Gorilla/Heenan). I honestly thought that JBL was the best color villian since "the Body." Hell, WWE should hire him back, team him up with Striker, and let them work commentary on Smackdown.

I grew up with Lawler & JR. Lawler as a heel commentator, and JR being both a face/indifferent. But the real thing that made them one of (if not, the) best commentating team was their reactions. The purest, most believable reactions made any moment a classic.
