Have a country blues taste, plus excellent jazzy guitar lines!!!

  • jerry's solos remind me of spiderweb sitars

  • i vote, unequivocally, this is the best recording, ever!

  • Jerry! Bob! Phil! amazed beyond capacity to type words...

  • I think this is the one David Gans included in his 2-part "The Dead Do Dylan" special edition of Dead To The World on KPFA Berkeley (94.1 FM) back in 1997.

  • wow, Phil is great on this

  • @lien0569 Yes he is fantastic....I think it would be a good performance without him but his bass work lifts it to the highest level.

  • Fucking Beautiful!

  • Bob D. wrote some of the best songs ever. Love this cover.

  • Thanks for posting! "Backstage Pass" had some good stuff. The "Hard to Handle" is my favorite version of all time. The energy is off the charts...anyone out there that can post that?

  • Where is this from? This is great..thanks for posting. I am guessing this is sometime between 93 and Jerry's passing in '95. Any details would be great.

  • Looks more like '91 to me. but i could be off

  • 91.

  • when was this? Jerry sounds fantastic (like the rest) but he looks older

  • chills

  • who is jerry phil?

  • jerry garcial, phil lesh, bob weir: Grateful Dead

    hope you like : )

  • Ok, now I see.

  • just wow. how lucky are we to have this recorded for the ages ?

  • cool to see the back and forth lead vocal!

  • Beautiful, thank you!

  • how about the easy to love you from the same tape??

  • The sweetest sound coming out of that trio.

  • this is so sweet, used to watch it on my VHS back in the day.

  • This is a proof that these guys are musicians in the top of the line. They could take on anything from real rock to folk songs and balads and they do it with pure PERFECTION.

Man i love them so much, they are the best!

  • My feelings exactly!

  • Very nice ! God I miss Jerry...

  • This is beautiful. We were indeed lucky to catch this tune just for a moment in the 1985 repertoire. The Richmond '85 show, by the way, is one of the greatest sets in GD history. It was probably my favorite of all the 60 or 70 shows I saw 1983-1995.

  • a rare treasure

  • wow, nice

  • Such a clean version of this song, great, but Jerry's live acoustic delivery is one of the sweetest vocal performances i've ever encountered

  • Thank you madabox!

Where is this video from? It's rather nicely done. Is there more??? I was at the BCT acoustic show in 94 but don't recall this tune, and would have remembered all the cameras.

I did catch She Belongs to Me in 85, once or twice for sure. Yeah, I totally agree tomahawkcounty, we were lucky.

  • It's from a VHS tape they put out right after Brent died called Backstage Pass. As far as I know it never made it to DVD. Maybe try ebay. Had some real cool shit on it.

  • Backstage Pass DID make it to DVD... where to find it I couldn't tell you... also reccommend Ticket To New Year's... great extras on that one

  • Wonderful

  • I had Backstage Pass years ago and it broke. I always LOVED this version. Thank you so much for posting.

  • I also saw the Dead perform this song in Philly and Richmond (and one more somewhere else). They played it only in 1985, and 8 or 9 times total.

  • Great stuff. I got the chance to see the Dead perform this song twice in Richmond and Philly in 1985 - what a treat. Jerry sang lead.

  • I also saw the GD perfom this song in Richmond & Philly '85 - as well as one other somewhere else.

They GD played the song only in 1985, and only around 8 or 9 times total, so you and I got lucky

  • if you look hard you can get it for a buck or so

  • I cannot wait to see Phil at the ROO in two days

  • wow...simply brilliant.

  • this is awesome

  • This comes pretty close to my idea of paradise. Wonderful stuff.

  • wow this is awesome, definitely 91. what was this for?

  • It's from a video called backstage pass

  • is that an official release?

  • It was. Don't know if you can still get it or not. maybe ebay or amazon?

  • thanks!
