does anybody know how you play both audio tracks at the same time. at minute 3.45 in this video when the voice track is added, you can no longer hear the other track in the background.
i have made a video of myself talking. does anybody know how i can add a track of music to the video but still hear what i was talking about in this same video and at the same time? please?
@werjustnumbers Put the background music on a separate audio track, and use a volume envelope to reduce the volume of that track when the narration starts. You can see how to do this in my YouTube video, 'Using volume envelopes in Sony Vegas Movie Studio'
@IBringIt666 Yes, you can add additional audio tracks and line them up with existing audio tracks. And you can detach audio tracks from video tracks and copy just the audio or video track and add to another project or production.
@KillerrWhale Use Windows Control Panel, choose 'sound', 'recording', then set the microphone as the default microphone. After you do that, Movie Studio will use that microphone as the microphone when you arm for record.
I'm having problems with the voice over. I use the video arm, then the record button but the recording goes over the music track as well instead of staying on a track of its own and sometimes it will play back and sometimes not.
"I have a question.. I stopped making videos for a while and so I didn't use Sony Vegas much but I most recently tried making them again with commentaries and when I record my voice for audio it doesn't work, the mics are plugged in and it works on everything else but sony vegas.. so if somehow muted the voice or something for recording how could I unmute it for narration?"
@EvilSidez Not the control panel for Sony Vegas. The Windows Control panel is where you set the default microphone for recording. Once the default microphone is set, it will show in Vegas as the recording microphone, when you arm for record.
Your tutorials are very helpful. Thank you. I was trying to record my voice as you describe, it didnt work. My microphone is in the webcam, it's not picking up my voice. How do I fix this problem? Thanks
@cRDaarK If you have deleted the track, re-import the video to make sure it had an audio track. If the video is mp4, you might have to apply a patch to get the mp4 file to work properly.
@guerillabill i suddenly clicked "track FX . . ." and putted audio or voice console upper where is "Video FX , Transition etc." How to remove from there ? I click on him and cannot remove . :/
@NikoBellicSerbia30 Put mouse pointer on the vertical row of dots in the tabbed window, and drag the window to wherever you want it to appear on the Vegas Window
wow, ur tutorials have really helped me ALOT. i tot that this software was dificult to use but u made me realize its not :) thanks so much! pls keep making more of these tutorials!! :D
uhm... i use Vegas Movie Studio 9 and I don't have the "arm for record" button and that front part my microphone works I checked and double-checked it by "Sound" any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
@Sobremaria1 If you ungroup the audio from the video as shown in the clip above, you can then delete the video track, without deleting the audio track. Just right click on the video track and choose delete.
@XxMasyiahxMvz Right clicking in the audio track removes the audio clip from the track. If you remove the entire audio track, put the mouse in the far left control area of the track and right click and select delete there.
im trying to record i have my mic set up and ready to go but for some reason i click it but it just keeps unclicking and it wont let me record at all i dont know why it wont let me record at all
@cardcaptorsnaruto Make sure you have set up a record device in Windows control panel, and then make sure have selected that device as the record device in Sony Vegas.
@hjagarci Do you want the video be remain paused as you narrate? If so, move to an unused section of the timeline and record the narration. Then go to where you want the video to pause, and click the 'capture screen photo' icon in the preview window. Drag that photo on the timeline and extend it for how long you want the video to be paused. Then drag the audio you recorded so it appears under the 'paused' video photo.
I have a problem. When I recording my video I was also listening to an MP3 song on my stereo being sung by a friend of mine. She was singing the Foolish Games cover. So you can hear it quite well in my video. Thus it is a single audio track. I want to remive her singing from it, but keep my voice in it so I don't have any copy right issue. I have eben trying all day using the noise removal feature in Audacity to no avail. I can get some, but not all of it removed. Am I SOL?
when i record audio tracks it shows up but when i play it back i cant here anything... i never had any problems like this before and there is no way to fix it that i can find do u have any tips?
@lepy277 If the audio track shows on the timeline, but you can't hear it when it plays back, make sure you haven't pressed the mute button on the audio track
@BacteroidGetToKnow Use Split to split the event to be reversed. This leaves it on the timeline, just as a separate event that you can apply reverse to.
THANKYOU!!!!ive been trying to audition for a part in a trailer for my friends new series and i have a webcam and my laptop is stupid haha and i still didnt no how to do a voice over!
PLEASE HELP! I make music videos and I just got sony vegas to edit and I try to record music off of youtube, not off of the outer computer like me talking...How do I do that?

@supersaintsfan31 Be sure you have set which microphone to use in Windows Audio settings, as Sony Movie Studio uses whatever microphone you have set in Windows.
Then after clicking the arm for record button, click the red 'record audio' button to start recording audio as shown at 3:00 in the video.
Say I wanted to separate the vocal part of a video clip and keep the vocal part to be used in another project, would the process be the same in reverse (delete the video instead of audio) or is there another way to do this?
Hi Bill thanks for the tip. It was bugging me I couldn't remove it. Its a lot easier in pinnacle studio but then that has its other problems. Buy the way on the strength of this I bought your 101 tips dvd. Look forward to that.

@JTFIFA7 Mute the original audio track, then find an unused audio track, and arm it for recording. Then record the new narration.
Or if you just want the original audio track louder, use an volume envelope and push the volume up.
