Not to downplay this Vid,but I found an easier way to make these fragile skids rock solid....I went to home depot ( for $5 ) I bought a tube of (Locktite brand) Apoxy....I dipped the landing skid...Let sit for 24 hrs...It dries to a "Rock Solid" clear/smooth/clean feel....That was my answer to this fix once & for all...also u can coat the inside of the "Canopys" also...No more cracked canopy's !!! Try it next time, you guys will thank me Good Luck
Hey no worries.... any other ideas other than mine are always welcome.... never said this was the best solution but a quick and cheap way to do it.... I do like your more permanent idea..... thanks for sharing.....
Why would anyone go to all of this effort taping up the part, filming it and uploading the video to YT without testing the part installed on a helicopter to see if it does any good or prevents the helicopter from operating properly?
@O0Salmon0O Becsause they can!! ha ha sometimes people just wanna try things or don't want to to wait 2 weeks for a part from the LHS or eBay... This was like a 30 second fix and hell I had 30 seconds to kill..... it is what it is... take it or leave it.... good or dumb... its just an idea.... Thanks for your time.....
I don't understand how people are breaking landing gear. I've had mine for 6 weeks and I'm about to replace my 6th part, but I can't imagine breaking the landing gear.
@Mickster6988240 Well my friend.... Sometimes we think we have more flying skills than we really do... Or in my case, losing orientation sucks!! They should have made the skids with a softer or thicker plastic..... Buy I got rid if that heli long ago. Check out my Flasher 500 onboard flight videos I just posted a few days ago
@erwin15erwin When I land mine on the skids it's basically doing what I want it to do, so it's no problem. It's only a problem when something OTHER than the skids meets a hard surface! I did have problems with the skids always popping out of the holes, but a little Elmers glue fixed that, and I was still able to pull them out when I had to replace the main frame.
@Mickster6988240 I have broke mine because I try to find how high it can fly; because of too high I lose the control and PAK!!! WTF, the 3 line that connect the metal thing to helicopter has been broke. my helicopter is vmax ty901, I bought new landing skid for it.
I laid up individual strands of glass fibre across the top of the skids behind the little nubs that break off and super glued it every few strands.. Weighs next to nothing and is unbreakable. Also if you breakl the main frame just use the CF rod from the tail boom drill 2x 3mm holes where the canopy mounts go on and super glue the cf rod through the main frame again unbreakable
Yes yes yes. Actually the tape at the bottom of the LG is all you need. The other tape is just cosmetic. The tale on the bottom stops the LG from stretching causing I to snap. Also the 2 little nubbs that go into the Body break off really easy...... So what I did was just cut them off and take a Hot Glu Gun and Hot glue the LG onto the body. Never breaks again!!!!!!!
So have you found that your reinforcements have improved durability? Just curious as I've already gone thru 2 sets of LG's... seems like the LG and blade grips are the weakest points for the heli...

@Mickster6988240 The only thing I have broken on mine is the landing gear x2. I have around 80 flights.. Great little heli, good idea with the tape
