It is quite possible that when Joseph learned of masonry that he asked the Lord about it and the Temple ordinances were revealed to him. Three witnesses are more than enought to the plates and although some left the church, they still never denied having seen the plates and the angel.

Well, with regards to the Jupiter Talisman - there is no real evidence that Joseph Smith ever actually owned it. In fact - the allegation that Emma Smith made the claim that it belonged to JS is heresay. Emma remarried after JS died. Her new husband did not like Mormons. He had a son and a grandson. The grandson passed this talisman on in the 1930's claiming that Emma Smith made the claim that it belonged to Joseph. There is no evidence that he actually said that or knew of the talisman.

Joseph Smith Senior and Hiram Smith were Masons many years before Joseph Smith Junior. It is possible Joseph Smith Junior could have known some things about Masonry way before joining. We don't know for sure what Joseph Smith Junior did or did not know about Masonry before joining. He could have known nothing about it or he could have known a lot about it.
You are right it was probably Brigham Young who based the temple ceremony on Masonry. Joseph started it and asked Brigham Young to finish the work on it.
Joseph Smith receive some information in the Kirkland Temple, but then due to follies of the Church membership, some of that authority was lost. The Lord asked them to build the Navou Temple to get that authority back so they could build up Zion. Smith got caught up in Masonry and ended up basing the endowment on Masonry instead of information He would have received if the Temples in Navou and Missouri had been completed before Smith's death.

Let's say a con man's work ends up with a man's life ruined and he repents enough that they both end up in heaven. Do you really think those two aren't going to have a problem? All it takes is for a sinner and their victim to meet and paradise is lost.

It was the beginning of the atonement and it finished with the ultimate sacrifice.. the life of the Son of God upon the cross. Don't let pride stand in the way of the HOW the atonement was done.
No where will you find a reference to the garden as the place of redemption for mankind. If you do a word study on "cross" you will find that He did everything there. The garden was where He prepared His heart for the wrath of God that was about to fall upon Him. It is by the corss that He reconciled both Jew and Gentile to Himself. It is funny that the LDS church tries very hard to distance itself from the cross and will put up many pagan symbols but never the cross, God's symbol.
There is plenty of evidence that the Garden was used for more than merely "preparing" himself. Many men have been crucified on a cross.. some even upside down. The cross is not God's symbol.. but is man's. The cross represents the tool that was used to kill the savior. Had they used a guillotine and cut off his head.. would that symbol be hanging around people's neck and on their walls? Read slowly the account of Jesus in the Garden. If you can't see it.. then I will show it to you.
Yes many men have been crucified, but on the cross Jesus took the cup of the wrath of judgment that is talked about in Psalms and Rev and took it all. Then God completely forsook Him which has not happeneed to any man, as we always have a measure of His grace upon us. The cross is God's symobol. The cross is the tool that Jesus used to save mankind. No one took Jesus' life, He laid it down WILLINGLY and that is why it is the symbol of God, it is His tool.
Read the NT. Paul said He suffered persecution FOR THE CROSS, He said that some have become enemies of the cross. Ephesians says that by the cross God reconciled everything to Him. Even in the bible it is called "the cross of Christ." If God used a guilotine then yes I would be thankful for it.
Matt. 10: 38 38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
Mark 10: 21 21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
What is he saying here? Go grab a cross, throw it over your shoulder and follow him? The Cross was the most visual means of the suffering Jesus experienced.
But the cross was not the only place that Christ suffered. From the Last supper.. the betrayal of Judas.. the suffering began. For in the Garden the pain experienced was so great that blood came from his pores. The pain and suffering was so great.. that he would have died right there in the garden had not an angel appeared and gave him strength. Then.. the scourging.. the trial.. the walk to Calvary.. and the final scene.. Death on the Cross.
So for Christians.. that was their symbol. But we do not feel it appropriate that the cross be the "thing" that identifies Christ with his teachings. He taught of Life.. not Death. His death was not in vain. It was for a purpose but his life and what he taught was what lives on. If all we needed was a savior to be killed.. he could easily come down and sacrificed himself without teaching what he taught. We celebrate that he is ALIVE.. and that is what we hang in our places of worship.
We celebrate that He is alive too and that we are alive in Him. But with everything that Jesus taught, if He didn't die, it would all be in vain because everyone of us would end up in hell. And you can't fully appreciate what He has done for you unless you realize what He saved you from and what the cost was. The only thing Jesus gained from His crucifiction is His bride. He existed as God having eternal life within Himself, yet he lowered Himself and let His own creation kill.
Him to redeem them. We are so thankful for His sacrific because we put it in perspective of what He did. Also the gospel which is defined in 1 Corin 15 starts with Jesus dying for sins, being buried and then being raised on the 3rd day. Without His death there is no gospel. Actually Jesus did teach of life and death. And He spoke of hell more than heaven and more than everyone else put together. He bore our sins on the cross and died for them and that's where the payment took place.
Last thing is when you read what the apostles preached they said nothing about the garden. Paul said the "preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that are perishing" 1 Cor 1:18. And that they "preached Christ cruficied." When you read Acts the apostles preached about the crucifiction. So if the apostles using God's wisdom preached more about the crucifiction than anything else, why then does your church avoid it?
We don't avoid it. We choose to Celebrate and Worship in a different way than you do. Because we do not use the symbol of a cross on or in our Churches in no way means we are not Christian. It merely means we don't see it the way you do. If the Garden had no worth in the atonement of Christ.. why did all four gospels mention it?.. and the one gospel.. Luke.. the Doctor.. told it from a Dr's point of view. The Crucifixion was the Final ACT of the atonement.
All four gospel mention it because it iwas the one point where Jesus' will and the Father weere not the same and it showed that even though Jesus is God in the flesh, it wasn't easy for Him to go to the cross. We don't worship the cross, but we recognize it's great importance. God tells us not to make images of things in heaven or earth and that why you won't find pictures of Jeuss or statues or men or angels, but we have the cross because that's the symbol that God has used.
You see.. you don't understand what you read. You believe that Jesus was chickening out about going to the cross. That his will was not the same as the fathers. What you don't understand is that the pain had begun in the garden and it was so overwhelming that it actually caught him off guard... to the point that he asked if this bitter cup that he was already tasting.. big time.. could be removed from his lips.. but also stated.. "thy will be done" to his Father.. not himself.
What does amaze me is that Christians dismiss the suffering that Jesus did in the Garden. They want no association with it concerning the atonement of Christ. Is it so hard to imagine that Christ took upon him and felt every pain the human race would feel.. every disparaging emotional feeling. Every loss of loved ones.. Every situation that a man or woman could feel.. he felt. And that weight was so heavy the blood was "pressed" right out of him. Think about it for a second.....
I read the verses you posted. They have nothing to do with buried anceint books, secret names or secret priesthood marriages. The LDS Savior was never infinite. He suffered by sweating as it were, "but not" great drops of blood. Atoned for sin in Gasthemane.

These books are not from God. Look at the New Testament and see if these books agree with the word of God. You think that Jesus and Satan are your spirit brothers? What does the Bible say?

If Joseph or his father were psychic, why didn't they see the future events of some of the terrible things that happened? Example = Zions camp? Joseph was NO psychic. He was a news prophet. If a local paper wrote something about a possiblility of future events, Joseph would pick up on this and use it in a prophecy. What I see is reality, not negativity. Psychics today have been labeled and their abilities have been put into categories. What kind of psychic do you think Joseph was? Some people seek truth whatever it is and wherever God has provided it, others decide their acceptable parameters of truth and reject (and in your case attack) that which does not fit into "their" acceptable truth. I believe that honest seekers of truth, who are willing to learn what the Lord would teach them and not trust man more than God, will find it (See, James 1:5, Jeremiah 5:2, and 2nd Timothy 3:7).

I read the annotations to this video written by the uploader. Firstly, the supposed commonplace status of dowsing and charms does not exempt them from occult status. Second, a Jupiter talisman is definitively a magical and occult item, much more so than a mere rabbit's foot; any attempt to reduce the significance of a magical talisman to a common 19th Century item is patently absurd. Third, the display of this item by the LDS church is an implicit approval of such talismans.

It is quite possible that when Joseph learned of masonry that he asked the Lord about it and the Temple ordinances were revealed to him. Three witnesses are more than enought to the plates and although some left the church, they still never denied having seen the plates and the angel.

Well, with regards to the Jupiter Talisman - there is no real evidence that Joseph Smith ever actually owned it. In fact - the allegation that Emma Smith made the claim that it belonged to JS is heresay. Emma remarried after JS died. Her new husband did not like Mormons. He had a son and a grandson. The grandson passed this talisman on in the 1930's claiming that Emma Smith made the claim that it belonged to Joseph. There is no evidence that he actually said that or knew of the talisman.

(continued). There is no actual evidence other than a man's assertions made in the 1930's that it is true. In fact - Joseph Smith's lawyer acquired a copy of an inventory of things on JS's person when he was killed. It lists his clothing as well as all other possessions. There was no such talisman listed as one of his possessions at the time of death. So there is at least 1 real bit of evidence that JS never owned this talisman.

Joseph Smith Senior and Hiram Smith were Masons many years before Joseph Smith Junior. It is possible Joseph Smith Junior could have known some things about Masonry way before joining. Joseph Smith receive some information in the Kirkland Temple, but then due to follies of the Church membership, some of that authority was lost. The Lord asked them to build the Navou Temple to get that authority back so they could build up Zion. Smith got caught up in Masonry and ended up basing the endowment on Masonry instead of information He would have received if the Temples in Navou and Missouri had been completed before Smith's death.

There is only one God, one being who can truly be called God. How can you say that Christians change the bible when Mormons will take one verse completely out of context and when you read the entire passage you see this. JS rewrote the Bible and added a prophecy of himself in Genesis. God's word is unchanged. The gospel is the same, what God was warning about is people like JS would TRY to change the gospel into one of works. God has preserved His word and will continue to do so.

Get to the point where you don't make certain ones again. Faith is always needed in repentance. If you didn't have the faith you would be forgiven.. then there is no need to repent... for it would be useless. So.. NO.. we don't believe that to be saved you must never error again.

Let's say a con man's work ends up with a man's life ruined and he repents enough that they both end up in heaven. Do you really think those two aren't going to have a problem? True God could seperate them but what if by chance they had the same close friend or some other relation that makes their meeting unavoidable? All it takes is for a sinner and their victim to meet and paradise is lost.

Gethsemane means olive press. Have you ever seen the color of the olive juice as they are pressed? It will catch you off guard. It is red. And did you know that the olive tree is thrashed and whipped to get the olives out of the tree? Christ chose the Garden of Gethsemane for a very good reason. No where will you find a reference to the garden as the place of redemption for mankind. If you do a word study on "cross" you will find that He did everything there. The garden was where He prepared His heart for the wrath of God that was about to fall upon Him. It is by the corss that He reconciled both Jew and Gentile to Himself. There is plenty of evidence that the Garden was used for more than merely "preparing" himself. Many men have been crucified on a cross.. some even upside down. The cross is not God's symbol.. but is man's. The cross represents the tool that was used to kill the savior. Had they used a guillotine and cut off his head.. would that symbol be hanging around people's neck and on their walls? Read slowly the account of Jesus in the Garden. But the cross was not the only place that Christ suffered. From the Last supper.. the betrayal of Judas.. the suffering began. For in the Garden the pain experienced was so great that blood came from his pores. The pain and suffering was so great.. that he would have died right there in the garden had not an angel appeared and gave him strength. Then.. the scourging.. the trial.. the walk to Calvary.. and the final scene.. Death on the Cross.

So for Christians.. that was their symbol. But we do not feel it appropriate that the cross be the "thing" that identifies Christ with his teachings. He taught of Life.. not Death. His death was not in vain. It was for a purpose but his life and what he taught was what lives on. If all we needed was a savior to be killed.. he could easily come down and sacrificed himself without teaching what he taught. We celebrate that he is ALIVE.. and that is what we hang in our places of worship.

And you can't fully appreciate what He has done for you unless you realize what He saved you from and what the cost was. The only thing Jesus gained from His crucifiction is His bride. Him to redeem them. We are so thankful for His sacrific because we put it in perspective of what He did. Also the gospel which is defined in 1 Corin 15 starts with Jesus dying for sins, being buried and then being raised on the 3rd day. Without His death there is no gospel. Actually Jesus did teach of life and death. And He spoke of hell more than heaven and more than everyone else put together. He bore our sins on the cross and died for them and that's where the payment took place.

Last thing is when you read what the apostles preached they said nothing about the garden. Paul said the "preaching of the cross is foolishness to them that are perishing" 1 Cor 1:18. And that they "preached Christ cruficied." When you read Acts the apostles preached about the crucifiction. So if the apostles using God's wisdom preached more about the crucifiction than anything else, why then does your church avoid it?

We don't avoid it. We choose to Celebrate and Worship in a different way than you do. Because we do not use the symbol of a cross on or in our Churches in no way means we are not Christian. It merely means we don't see it the way you do. If the Garden had no worth in the atonement of Christ.. why did all four gospels mention it?.. and the one gospel.. Luke.. the Doctor.. told it from a Dr's point of view. The Crucifixion was the Final ACT of the atonement.

All four gospel mention it because it iwas the one point where Jesus' will and the Father weere not the same and it showed that even though Jesus is God in the flesh, it wasn't easy for Him to go to the cross. We don't worship the cross, but we recognize it's great importance. God tells us not to make images of things in heaven or earth and that why you won't find pictures of Jeuss or statues or men or angels, but we have the cross because that's the symbol that God has used.

You see.. you don't understand what you read. You believe that Jesus was chickening out about going to the cross. That his will was not the same as the fathers. What you don't understand is that the pain had begun in the garden and it was so overwhelming that it actually caught him off guard... to the point that he asked if this bitter cup that he was already tasting.. big time.. could be removed from his lips.. but also stated.. "thy will be done" to his Father.. not himself.

What does amaze me is that Christians dismiss the suffering that Jesus did in the Garden. They want no association with it concerning the atonement of Christ. Is it so hard to imagine that Christ took upon him and felt every pain the human race would feel.. every disparaging emotional feeling. Every loss of loved ones.. Every situation that a man or woman could feel.. he felt. And that weight was so heavy the blood was "pressed" right out of him. Think about it for a second.....

I read the verses you posted. They have nothing to do with buried anceint books, secret names or secret priesthood marriages. The LDS Savior was never infinite. He suffered by sweating as it were, "but not" great drops of blood. Atoned for sin in Gasthemane.

There is one sealed book and it is the book of life. The church does not have this book locked up in a vault. At the end times, angels will call out, "who will open this book?". They call out to heaven and earth and no one is capable to meet the request. So, who rules with power over heaven and earth and hell? It will NOT be Joseph Smith or any of his man made gods.

Hey Nirom, what was the last prophecy given by one of your prophets? These prophecies are not prophetic if they mimic current events or news. They would have to be world shocking news of future events. Don't you know that the duties of the prophets were finished when Jesus was born? The prophets were all fullfilled in Christ. He is our prophet and high priest.

Yes yes yes.. I have heard Christians say that Jesus is the their prophet and high priest... and so I would ask you the same question.. When was the last time you heard from him? What was the last prophecy given by HIM? God does not work in the ways of man... but in his own ways. You say.. the Prophets are dead! We don't need any.. anymore. Well.. I think you are wrong. We do need them.. and we need them more now than at anytime in history. Christ comes again!

These books are not from God. Look at the New Testament and see if these books agree with the word of God. You think that Jesus and Satan are your spirit brothers? What does the Bible say?

Look at some more history. Josephs ancestors arrived with the Mayflower group. There were many settlers that brought old world magic with them. Josephs uncle was involved with the Salem witch trials and his ex wife was hung. These mystical magical beliefs were more than just a part time hobby with the men of the family. Josephs father was treasure hunting before Jr. was born. With Josephs family treasure hunting never did put food on the table.

Ah.. and what do we call people today who have the ability to speak with the dead? Who are now being used by police to catch murderers or find lost children? It is ok today because it is finally understood that some people just have these gifts. It is not of Satan. And if we still had the same superstitions of that generation.. there would be more "witch" trials that would continue today with many many many being burned at the stake. If Joseph or his father were psychic, why didn't they see the future events of some of the terrible things that happened? Example = Zions camp? Joseph was NO psychic. He was a news prophet. If a local paper wrote something about a possiblility of future events, Joseph would pick up on this and use it in a prophecy. There is a big difference between people with psychic abilities and people that used folklore to treasure hunt.

Why ASAP.. I am NOT surprised you don't know what a psychic medium is. But let me teach you. Being psychic has nothing exclusively to do with predicting the future. Even prophets who have been given that gift.. only see what God wants them to see.. not everything. Joseph saw into the future of things that God wanted him to see. You seek to see the negative in everything. If you look hard enough.. you will find what you are looking for. Too bad you look at the world that way. :-(

What I see is reality, not negativity. Psychics today have been labeled and their abilities have been put into categories. What kind of psychic do you think Joseph was? I don't think that Joseph was a psychic but a psychotic. There is another name that describes Joseph, "Malignant Narcisist". Look it up sometime. This name fits neatly into his lifestyle and actions.

Psychics today.. are the same as they were 150 years ago. The only difference is that they are respected today.. and then.. practitioners of magic. I did not say Joseph was psychic. You accuse his family of "old world magic".. and the Salem witch trials. Those people then have the same gifts today but they would not be criticized or burned at the stake today. You can't have two sets of standards.

OLD POST but, Sandra and Jerald Tanner are true saints of God. They can and will boldly go to the Father. They will live with God in his house. They will not have to please a man to get in or live in a house created by man. There is only 1 house of God with many mansions, not a 3 story house dividing the colored people and Christians from the Mormons.

And if the spirit testified to them of that and now they deny it.. it will come back on them... to what degree.. I know not.. but it will happen.

Rebutle, see The NewTestament. The Tanners will only be held accountable to the god of the dead dry bones of Joseph Smith. Joseph only became a prophet when he profited. You worship someone that needs to keep secrets, secret names and things hidden. You must pay him back for his sacrifice. Your god tells people to lie. He will not remember if you were baptised unless you keep a record of it. He was exhalted on another planet by another god.
This god is not the holy infinite God of Israel.

First.. we do not "worship" Joseph Smith. But we do take him as seriously as we do the Apostle Paul, or the other Prophets that God has given man.. Isaiah, Jeremiah, & Moses. Read Matt 13:10-11. Then read Matt 13:35 and Romans 16:25. The SECRETS of God are not told to every man but God does have SECRETS. If nothing gets recorded.. what is the purpose of the BOOK OF LIFE? Does God need it written in a Book to remember if you are there or not?

You use Mathew to prove that God keeps secrets? Hogwash. There is nothing hidden. The secret mentioned is about the people that do not understand. He speaks in parables and they do not hear or see. This is your problem. The gift of Gods own grace is staring you right in face and you don't see it.

I thought the Bible was the WORD of GOD.. read what it says not just the parts you like. Remember.. you can have all the faith you want, but without works, your faith is DEAD!
