  • ooooooo bicycle generator, innovative? can mit reinvent the wheel while they're at it?

  • Ok - so - the idea from Gilligan's Island finally got some real traction ...

  • Feed the cyclists steroids and then sell the surplus power generated to the grid.

That way you could raise funds for reasearch.

If you had somebody whip the cyclists you could also do the same much cheaper.!!

  • The lesson to be learned here is the research isn't important its the fact they can research without using the grid. If we all followed their lead their research is worthless.

  • I dont'see the point in it. They are going on their bikes to power a supercomputer....so what? Why? They didn't invent anything special..in my opinion. I expected something better from you guys considering all the money your university invested in labs and computers....

  • dumb shit, it's just a demonstration

  • no it's some crap attached to, no, meshed onto a bicycle - for a press shoot. Innovation? Novelty.

  • Bicycles are the most efficent mode of transport there is. You are not very bright to call it inefficient human energy.

  • the best students at mit, are the foreigns one...

  • true espically jananese because their contry is probably the most high tech country i've been to

  • Its not the gimmick of powering computers with inefficient human "energy" that alughable its trusting

    computers to give analytic answers!

  • You don't need to be aero when you're standing still.

  • i like the idea of a bike generator. but it is like trying to connect a battery to a motor who is attached to a generator that is wired to the battery. lets say you pedal for the energy of one pizza. its gonna take more than just one pizza to get that energy back. so in short terms, you pedal your ass off and get 15minutes of electricity, but that pizza takes 20 minutes, catch my drift?

  • Eh, not impressed.

  • I WANA GO TO ----MIT----

  • So they just established a generator powered by bicycles to power a computer. a computer that will run programs for research....HAHHA

I expected more from MIT students.

  • HAHAHAH i did to... i guess im going to HARVARD

  • This is actually the beginning of the bi-sexual porno film called "Plasma Probe 3"

  • Well, I'm glad to see MIT finally demonstrating that their school graduates squirrel brained people.

  • ...and i suppose your smarter than the people who made that supercomputer and programmed it?

  • LOL they dont do programming... and the super computer is made by a seperate company...

THEY DO PHYSICS! didnt you hear the guy?

    jeez

  • MIT takes the silly side again, and their topic predictably brings Stop Physics Research picketers.

  • so what we get pplz from a poor country to power all our needs ?????

  • it's all about cold fusion! this is a sham nothing but a government distraction.

  • Cold fusion is a dead end man! Start reading credible books instead of conspiracy websites.

  • Fifty years of tokamak research and billions of dollars spent has contributed one vastly important fact to the body of human scientific knowledge... plasma pinch and tokamaks are a waste of f*cking time!

  • WONDERFUL, what a great video about wasting fuel sources when you guys needed little yellow fans to stay cool while you were creating energy. Kinda pointless that you were wasting energy while making a video to show how you were saving it.... Just a thought

  • whats the old saying it takes money to make money!

  • useless crap.. this is an advertising campaing, not an entry.

PLEASE don't shoot your own feet giving any prizes to this bullshit.

  • Its a masturbation =\

  • Many super computers use huge amounts of energy. The thing of significance here is that this super computer uses so little energy that a group of people could power it with bikes.

  • Fusion not fission power. Fission, while not perfect, isn't anywhere near as bad as you make it out to be.

  • Oh stop it yourself and get the facts straight. That's why greenpeace fails.

  • Indeed. Good luck to you all. I hope you manage to transform your lead into gold. And work on some string theory while you are at it.

  • Danielsikar, can you tell me the difference between a fusion and fission reactor?

  • One consumes less taxpayers' money than the other. Now you tell me which one is which.

  • Why would I be able to tell which is which with an argument you decided upon?

You made the argument "One consumes less tax then the other", Why would someone else be able to finish your argument for you?

  • But I'm confused, are you arguing against fusion power research becausen you think it's bad for the invironment? or are you arguing because you think it's too expensive?

  • He's arguing because he wants to ban Dihydrogen Monoxide.

  • Ah, the corroding chemical, which, when inhaled causes death after little more then 1 minute.

Ofcourse he'd want to ban it.

I'd be more then happy to make sure he'll never have to touch the stuff, ever.

  • It's called ORMUS metals as discovered by David Hudson. Search his patent and lectures.

  • blah blah blah

  • You can read don't you?

  • Please name two (2) waste products from fusion reactions that is harmmful to the environment, aside from radioactice materials. Nuclear energy is cleaner than most energy sources today.

  • That's fission, not fusion retard. Fusion releases helium from hydrogen, and so far isn't practical for energy use.

  • Good Music, good words...

    The energy, The Problem.

    Google, Mit!

This is crap! This is useless! This have no sense! This is old!

This is only a tv-spot for tv addicteds that don't think about what are they seeing...

  • Oh yeah I forgot one little ity bitty thing.

The power to produce their bikes and servers also.

  • This is ridiculous, this is not a clean energy source. Those people eat food, that food is grown, transported, and prepared, not to mention all of the water needed to grow the plants and give to the riders. Their bodies are extremely inefficient losing most of the energy as heat.

If this was really an efficient means of generating power there really would be massive hamster farms generating electricity, but it's not even close.

  • At least they're exercising and not sitting around on their fat asses.

Efficiency using hamsters? Oh right, because as we all know, hamsters don't eat food that is grown, transported or prepared in any way.

  • powering supercomputers to run code to solve energy problems? unless 10min of pedaling gives you an answer, I find this project not useful, as you will have to pedal for 100 years before you can find an answer. AC plug is more effective, as it doesn't have to sleep.
