hey can u plz tell me about the settings of w210 coz i just buyed it but not satisfied about his pic quality it dont have much deifference then 7.2.........plz tell me
i was wondering if the video recording was any goo. i was thinking of getting a camcorder but I've changed my mind because i fancied a better quality snapshot camera instead. but ot would be good to have a decent video plackback mode on there
The video quality was not changed from the Sony DSC-W100 (which is the camera I primarily use for all of my videos).
More and more people are using small compact digital cameras for videos, replacing the more expensive camcorders.
I will also add that I have a 1 GB and an 8 GB memory cards for video capture.
Bring your charger with you for your next trip and with the right memory cards, you will have a pocket friendly alternative to replace those bulky camcorders.
Thank you so much for your reviews. It is not only professional, but very infomative and taught me quite a bit about cameras. I actually watched many of your reviews to learn more from you.
I was wondering if you could give me some advice.
I'm hesitating between the Sony DSC W200 and the Canon ixus 860 IS. Which one would you recommend in terms of image quality, practicality and overall performance?
Hi Martin, I'd go for the 860 IS - wider angle lens and better screen... the difference in resolution doesn't make a big deal in real life... feel free to ask any more Qs on the Cameralabs website!
I just came back from the store, comparing the 2 in real and I think I will follow your advice.
Btw, I have refered your website to some of my friends and on other forums. I really like it. Cnet people look like absolute ignorant in comparison to the knowledge and quality of information you are providing.
Again, great job on your website and thank you very much for your advice.
Thanks Martin! When you get your camera, check out our monthly assignment on the Cameralabs forums - it's a fun way of getting creative with your camera!
euhm i wanted to ask:P wich camera is better : Sony cybershot DSC W200 or Sony Cubershot T70 i mean the pictures if you print them ? please help me i really like to know cause i want to buy 1
The W200 will be able to make bigger prints (or tighter crops), but the T70 will still look great printed up to 10x8in. So if your prints are smaller than 10x8in, it doesn't matter which one you get...
Gordon I am torn between the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3 and the Sony DSC-W200.CEH. I can't work out if more pixels and 3x zoom is best of 7m pixels but 10x zoom is more favourable. I am a novice and just want a good camera I can set to auto and point and shoot people or landscape a general allround camera.
Have tried a Fuji camera with 10m pixels but found the delay in taking the shot far to much when taking pictures of my one year old Thanks Alan
Hi Alan, the 10x zoom of the TZ3 gives you much greater flexibility and it goes wider than the W200 as well. The screen is nicer on the TZ3 too and you won't notice much difference in sensor resolution in practice. The only downside is the TZ3 is a bit bigger than most compacts, but if the size is ok for you, then it's a great model. Feel free to discuss further on the Cameralabs forums!
How come you never made the review of Canon SX100 IS.. I mean for a DSLR user who is thinking of a smaller camera for the Jeans pocket.. that will be a GREAT GREAT Camera and looking at the features i believe that is one serious piece of equipment... I would love to hear your reviews on that Camera Gordon.. :)
I'm certainly interested in testing it in the future, but it's only just come out! That's also the trouble with Canon - they launch so many new cameras at a time you can't do them all!
Yes and this all technology comes up like anything, as today i came across the IXUS860IS which really impressed me with all its features.
Gordon, i have a EOS30D and i am totally surrounded by Nikon fans who always bombard me with the Phrase "Nikon is better then Canon". Despite considering, Canon has 70% professional Photographers and 1D mark 3 is world's no.1 DSLR. But if you were given 1 second to answer a question ( NIKON or Canon?)
I wouldn't say one was better than other, based on track record. Both produce excellent cameras... Maybe you should surround yourself by more Canon owners though if you're feeling out-numbered! Check out our Canon forum at the Cameralabs website...
Gordon, currently I ahve a DLSR but I am looking for a compact camera which I can keep in my pocket when I dont want to take the SLR out, can you recommend me a which is not too expensive but is a good size and the quality is good but does not need to be amazing as its only for quick snaps. Thanks
Hi Vic, you're not alone! Many DSLR owners want a nice compact to complement their kit. It depends what you're looking for. In terms of IQ, the Fuji F30 / F31fd remains hard to beat, but if you want wide angle, the Panasonics are nice. Check out the Compact Buyers Guide in the Best Buys section at Cameralabs . com.

The video mode is similar to other compacts - it's ok, but if you want the best quality, use a camcorder.
