he's my favourite guitarist bar non. total knowledge of the fretbord. throws in loads of jazz licks aswell as blinding blues. fast or slow style, he has total feeling . also love peter green in his fleetwood mac days.
Frank Marino is on a par with the best that have ever played guitar, period. Bar none. All one needs to do in order to check it out themselves is to listen to just a bit of his work. Come away awed.
Frank is the last great blues rock guitarist of the 70s - and he's still performing, bless him. He has borrowed greatly from Hendrix, but Frank is still very much his own player with his own sound and techniques - he was a bridge to the next generation of players. Thanks for the video and thanks to Frank for being a holder of the blues rock guitar flame, and an important one at that!
Not to take anything from the greats like: 1. T-Bone Walker 2. B.B. King 3. Stevie Ray Vaughan 4. Robert Johnson 5. Albert King 6. Eric Clapton 7. Buddy Guy 8. Muddy Waters 9. Otis Rush 10. Johnny Winter 11. Peter Green 12. Ronnie Earl ....but Frank NEVER got his dues! He is the final bridge between Hendix and blues still alive and should be heralded on par with Van Halen or his contribution to guitar!
Muddy was a great bluesman.. but he could not play guitar... He played very good feeling solos..like in record Muddy "Missisippi Water" Live... but we can't speak about him, when we speak great blues guitarists...like JW, SRV, Melvin Taylor and so on...
@stonepolismusic I dispise the debating of "who's the best this week", but I'll be a hypocrite just this once. First EVHalen-blues??, My contribution would be Roy Buchanan (9/23/39-8/16/88 RIP). He began recording blues in the late 50's (still a teenager) & continued up until his death. If there is another player to share his perch as "the best" guitarist & innovator in blues better check out RBuchanan before dismissing him. Just do a YT search for ROY BUCHANAN - ROY'S BLUZ(LIVE 1976)
Everything you'd ever need to know about rock/blues playing o guitar, bass and drums is found on Marino Live! You could make a career on his playing alone!
Frank Marino is a living legend!! -not to mention my favorite guitar player! Frank can wail like no other, and he's cool as hell(had the honor of finally meeting him and his band after the last two shows). This man is long overdue for some serious accolades and recognition for his most wicked playing!!!

Now were the hell is Rory Gallagher in this mix? He put Earl and Green to shame. Rory top 5 ever... Glad you got Johnny Winter in there though!
