does anyone remember the one with the two maoris in jail and one of them says "whats your story bro?" and they talk about some rugby game - cant remember the rest
Just three problems I have with this otherwise breathtakingly good PSA.
One, that crash is one of the least violent of any in these PSAs, yet the only one where the vehicle ignites. That seems implausible, and therefore they should have made the crash more violent.
Two, one of the passengers should have made it out, horribly burned, just to die on the ground in front of Mark.
Three, that ending slide should have "And a potential murderer" fade in below the "bloody idiot", after a short pause.
This is not my field or specialty, but adding that probably crosses the "over-the-top" line, reducing the impact again.
But on a side note, where I come from, unsafe drivers are treated as those "intentionally endangering the lives of others". A crime that if often repeated severely enough (eg multiple high-speed red-light running incidents) can carry the penalty of execution.
This is precisely why you should surround yourself only with competent, thinking people. Not piece of shit wankers who don't know that it's worth the risk of burning their hands to save a few lives... but then again their lives probably aren't worth much anyway. Every loser in society around us lowers our chance of surviving in an emergency. Fat people, dumb people, drunks... all are valueless in survival situations.
I remember this ad when I was a kid. I think it should be on TV again too. This ad terrified me. It shocked some of my mates when they saw it. Imagine what kids would feel like seeing this?
they need to put that back on TV. They say in moments like that you can have enough adrenalin in your body to move objects like that. i would've flipped that car in a heartbeat
i was going to send it to you to put on your channel. you have the infamous "same day david one" ;) i was going through some of our old rugby league video tapes and actually thought of you when i saw it lol
jesus christ, I've been watching gruesome road safety ads all day for work and this is the one that's really taken me aback. I guess usually people die quite quick in those ads whereas in this one you're watching them burn alive ... O.O
Watching this, I kind of got the feeling that the LTSA borrowed strongly from the Transport Accident Commission "Car Crash Nightmare" ad. Even though the message was different, there were a few similarities.

So... if the car didn't set on fire, they'd be fine? Somehow I don't think they thought this PSA/PIF through...

@1RadicalOne And then, after "potential murderer"... add in "...WHO DOESN'T DESERVE TO LIVE!"

If you guys want really see why you shouldn't speed, go to nothingtoxic and type in 'teens burn alive in car crash'...
I guarentee you will never break the speed limit or drive recklessly after that video.

That's what happen if they drink and drive and most people can't be bothered to follow the rules.

OMG!! That was heartbreaking.
They need to bring this ad back to TV. Some people never learn!
