  • fuck that mother fucker 800 bucks for that

  • i just bought one and still cant get that magic one second drop test to pass

  • 2:04 made me laugh

  • Comment removed

  • This was a great video for my attention deficit disorder.

  • LOL @ weighing his head!

  • I am sure that Mr. Brown, inventor or the steadicam, is equally insulted by people who complain that his system doesn't work after slapping a camera on without reading the manual. How many of us HONESTLY read the whole manual before trying something like this? The video covers a lot of ground because you need to know all of that to fly a camera. I am better at RTFM than anyone I know, and I am no saint. No offense taken by that remark.

  • He's fast...but Jimmy Johns is faster.

  • I had to watch this twic as the first min was me stunned at the speed they guy was talking. unless they recorded the voice first then put the spped up maintaining pitch then cut the edit to fit. ??? Anyway still wondering. May just look at the actual version.

  • the speed of this video is just comical, dude just made the most absurd blanket statement on americans

  • Speaking this quickly is just plain STUPID!!!

  • Did they get the "MatchBox Car Guy" to do this, lol.

  • I love cokehead quickstart videos.

  • why did he measure his head, LOL.

  • LOL @ 2:05

  • okay sloooow down!

  • lol 2:05

  • he insults 90% of america at the beginning.

    this is horrible

  • Yeah, but was he wrong?

  • @SeanTheOriginal i guess not

  • @BROKENHOUSEFILMS Nah, he's insulting the manufacturer for creating a product to complicated to use right off the shelf... thats poor design on their part.

  • @BROKENHOUSEFILMS Some people hear what they want to hear. He did not insult[?] anyone, it's simply a fact that Steadicam is _far_ trickier to operate than it looks.

  • WTF did he say?

  • Merlin Steadicam Quick Start Guide - that's more like a 'Very Quick Start Guide'

  • auhaiuhaiuhaiuhaiuhaiuhaiuhaiuhaiuhauhaiuahiuahiuahiuahiauaiuaui

this old man is very, very, very FAST!

    aiuhaihaiuhaiuhauihiuhaauhaui

  • Can you use the Merlin Steadicam with a Sony handycam DCR-HC17E (mini dv)?

  • WTF slow down right now

  • lol why did they speed up that video? Would not really be a problem for me to do that but wtf.

  • PHOTOSHOP!

  • slow down please!

  • insult potential customers right away...what an asshole

  • Quit being a damn cry baby.

  • Do you want some cheese with that whine?

I don't think they have invited him to work in 70 movies (including star wars) if he were an asshole.

  • @dabigjokeoftheday well there are the rich idiots who just stamp on their camera to the baseplate, and put sum weights there and there, and then write an angry review on amazon about how it won't "fucking balance"

  • quick quick start hahaha

  • Not bad. I just back off the coffee instead.

  • yeeeha!

  • $849? Are you crazy?

  • easy easy.....

  • crazy speaker ....[2]

  • nice little start guide!

  • lol that was great!

  • por favor publiquen algo en español...he comprado uno y no puedo usarlo por favooor

  • si pudieran traducirlo para la gente como nostros que hablamos en español

  • Reminds me of "What the frak is up with BSG?".

    Starbuck wouldn't read the manual.

  • THAT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • crazy speaker ....

  • Perfect ! Thanks

  • really quick!!

  • Finally a lesson that was highly informative and entertaining, I loved the speeded up dialogue that was easy for my fast thinking brain to absorb. All teaching systems should follow thier example, because some of us DO! think as fast as a race horse.

  • oooh you are so clever... gosh we are really impressed down here i can tell you..

  • Jay1967 and jackgray, don't assume that e2etech speeded up the video for Youtube. It was like that originally. At the end the speaker says, "Boy, that was quick!" Regarding Merlin, I think I'd still like to have a vest and spring arm support. Stuff gets heavy when you hold it away from your body. In a 4-minute shot in Atonement, the commentary says the operator's legs collapsed on one take. (My back would go first). BTW, watch Russian Ark for the longest Steadicam shot ever.

  • haaahahaha thats funny man, is way too fast

  • what was the point of speeding it up?... could have easily got that video on YouTube at normal speed with current YouTube limitations. Bloody studpid if u ask me and a waste.

  • It's called a quick guide for a reason. There's a long version included with the Merlin.

  • I got the SC Pilot, acts like a full-sized SC. Its great! In fact the ISO arm is only very slightly smaller than the Mk series. Hardly any difference comared to the flyer and even the Archer (apart from the new Archer design)

  • Perhaps, but with a 11k price difference compared to the Flyer, you can't help but wonder where they cut corners for the Pilot...

  • kaisergrendel - SC dont cut corners! You gotta understand the reasons for these different models. In fact it has nothing to do with price.. its do what cameras you use with which model. The Pilot takes cams up to 10lbs, the Flyer more etc.. The quality IS THE SAME! Ive used a few the more expensive ones, I know! The Pilot for my V1E is perfect, the tracks I get are exaclty the same as you would that of a £25k MkV model with say a RED stuck on it!!!.. its all to do with WEIGHT!

  • I see...

  • the point of speeding it up is to show the potential buyers and users how it basically works without being too verbose and long-winded in the video. this is an excellent video that runs through the basics. too fast for you? pause and repeat it. this was a good video FOR ITS STATED PURPOSE. 5 stars.

  • The Merlin Rocks!

    Hands down!

  • i loved this

  • Shitt - The speaker is the flash

  • my god thqat was hilaariously fast but also very informative

  • you got ten minutes, jesus! Take advantage of that, whats the fucking hurry!!!

  • If you are interested in making videos, you should know how to download this video, slow it down in any videoeditor and save it on your computer for your convinience...:)

  • Okay right I'm going to watch a video on youtube so I can download and re-edit it just so I can understand what he's saying? That makes so much more sense than utilizing youtube's time allowance and making an articulate instructional video that is easy to understand! What was I thinking! Not thinking of such brilliant ideas on how to revolutionize the convenience of YouTube!

  • WTF, did he say. FUCK!!!!

  • I want this steadicam.Where can I buy it and how much does it cost? Please help me somebody!!

  • it costs $800

  • I need a stabilizer to my head after trying to listen this tutorial. I'll go with the GLIDECAM 2000 PRO. It cost third, doing the same job, and most important- talk less.

  • Garrett Brown is a genius, a comic genius too!

  • wow. .that was so quick. .

  • Nice video! I would definitely buy one if it could hold the Sony Z1 including wide angle (and other accessories).

  • hahaha that was great

  • thanks!

  • oh yeah, I forgot about that

I was watching the rocky dvd awhile back, I must have gotten mixed up

  • garrett is a cool guy, what a great invention, hard to beleive that the first time we see it in use is when rocky is running up the steps in the philly museum of art

  • I find it very hard to believe, considering the first time we ACTUALLY saw in use was in the 1976 film Bound for Glory

  • casto69,

Considering Rocky was shot in 1975 and released in 1976, I don't find it hard to believe. Especially since John G. Avildsen says it on the Rocky DVD. Hahahaha. Idiot!

  • haha, look it up on wikipedia,

retard, why do you think bound for glory got the nod for the cinematography oscar?

  • gladue30,

Hahaha, I guess Wikipedia was there on set with John G. Avildsen. Funny John G. Avildsen who was actually there didn't see it your way. Watch the Rocky DVD in "Commentary" mode.

  • Dude, he's right, it was bound for glory, not rocky. Just because the cinematographer said so, doesn't mean it's true, he made a mistake.

Just like Spielberg when he thought he pioneered a new effect for Saving Private Ryan when he attached power drills to the lens housing on the camera for explosion effects. He later realized later there are "shaker" lenses for cameras.

People can make mistakes, sometimes you have to suck it up and admit your wrong.

  • calvatronic,

I'll try to live with it.
